I thought we weren't naming where they came from, just 'teenagers in Melbourne'

          • @ATangk: Doubt the stats changed much from -

Between 2015-2018 Sudanese-born males aged 10-17 had the highest rate of 'crimes against a person' offenses of 60/1,000, compared to a rate of 20/1,000 for Indigenous and 2/1,000 for non-Indigenous Australian born youth.

  • I think a cane knife / bush knife style tool is handier, similar to this one. Lighter & easier to swing and hack at the brush.

    • For value yes vs Fiskars 375 heritage and lifetime warranty.

On a product from Amazon Germany? How does that work.

        • +1

I’ve had good experiences returning things to Amazon directly even on international products

          • @Vaiels: Of course, but I wonder how warranty works on an item purchased from overseas via third party.

            • @Ham Dragon: with regards to Fiskars, their Axes X27..for those hardcore guys that used until it broke…Full refund/replacement at bunnings. Friend was told to take a picture and send to Fiskars anyway.

              • @raiseyoursteaks: Yeah I figured they would have a local contact point but you can't take an Amazon item back to Bunnings.

        • Warranty on bail or the blade

    Will this cut through bone.

    Axeing for a friend !!

    • +3

Yes, it will, as long as you get the hardened one, the softened one doesn't puncture as well.

At least that's what my friend says…

  • ohhh this one looks scarier than than the last deal.

  • Christmas present sorted.

    Thanks Op!

Be really careful with these. They do not keep the blade enough distance from your legs. If you take a big swing at a medium sized branch or stick, if you go through it easier than you expect, it is easy to put this into your leg on the follow through (and that can be really bad).

May I suggest something like the Machette Fiskars WoodXpert XA23 as it has a longer handle so keeps the blade away. I have almost got my foot using this guy too being really dumb, but its easier to keep the sharp bit away from you. Loosing a few toes would ruin your day, but not as much as hitting your femoral artery :-)

    • is your username short for Dexter Morgan T Pearson?

    • Agreed. The XA23 has a bigger hook too, it will grab shrubs more effectively. There's also a short-handle version good for smaller jobs at closer range.

The other issue is when you're in "slash tall grass mode" you will want the XA23 for the longer reach and two-handed operation. With the machete axe, using with one hand would be frustrating… and I agree less safe. Like slashing grass with an axe would be frustrating and less safe. The more I think about it, the more ridiculous this machete axe is!

Axchette…wet dream of every doomsday prepper.

  • Can people carry this into shopping centres?

    • +3

Only if you are dressed like Lara Croft.

      • I didn't know Lara was a fan of Nike and trying to bum a light off passing strangers. TIL

  • -3

and people wonder why there is an increase in knife and weapon crime. Too easy for absolutely anyone to get these harmful items……

    • Axes don't kill people…

  • The axe head seems gimmicky and possibly makes it awkward to use. The previous machete deal was better. A regular machete is actually quite useful as a gardening tool. You can even "mow" the lawn with it.

  • Back to $150?

  • Dont take this to shopping malls and crowded places. Thank you.

  • …why is this a joke btw? Are you one of those loners, and easily offended type?

    Sorry!
