Oh no…. That is terrible news…

JV , “you’ve done it again”.

  • +2

Introducing? Didn't they have nbn plans before, like 7 years ago?

    • I wonder who they’ll use.

      • +2

I think Optus given they own amaysim. Someone will have to run a traceroute to confirm.

      • I thought providers traded directly with the wholesaler, NBN Co?

  • +1

I'm skeptical to be a beta tester for vital WFH infrastructure, wonder what the offering will be like though.

  • i think this will actually be good, it will basically be Optus no frills brand. Like Buddy, but hopefully with CG Nat opt out…Im already on Optus deal and actually loving network over Leaptel, Launtel, Superloop and ABB. I believe they have better international peering agreements

  • I'm interested to see what they offer. If they do any deals for existing mobile phone customers

Speed Tier Typical Evening Speed (7pm to 11pm) Intro Price Ongoing Price after 6 Months
      25/10 - Quick As 25/8 $60/Month for 6 months $70/Month
      50/20 - Speedy As 50/18 $75/Month for 6 months $85/Month
      100/20 - Fast As 100/18 $80/Month for 6 months $90/Month
      250/25 - Superfast As 240/22 $90/Month for 6 months $100/Month

Existing amaysim mobile customers will continue to receive the introductory discounted price even after the first 6 months are up. You just need to maintain an amaysim SIM only plan for it.

For now, sign-up is by invitation only until 14 August for the first 500 customers who currently have an existing mobile plan with the telco.

Existing customers who have already registered interest will be the first customers to be contacted.

It's keen to test things out before going full steam ahead, and so the full market drop is still "a few months out".

$10 a month bundling discount when you're with amaysim for both mobile and broadband

amaysim finally drops new NBN plans.

Can I call it a joke?

        • +1

          Yeah, certainly looks like it.
A crappy $10 off expensive full pricing for first 6 months. Definitely a case of looking elsewhere for better deals which aren't hard to find. Am surprised they enter the market at those prices.

        • ofcourse

      • +1

Doesnt seem any better than leaptel or superloop, or even other more budget providers. I'm paying $85 for 250/25 with leaptel for 12 months.

This deal must be for people who still use Optus and Telstra for nbn.

I have a mobile service with Amaysim and I got invited to this beta trialing amaysim nbn(via email and unique link). They have offered 3 months free nbn. I have scheduled the service to be connected from next week(for 250/25 plan - 3 months $0 offer), to see how it goes. Cant say no to free nbn for 3 months when prices have started to increase with most providers these days.

If you are an existing amaysim mobile customer, check your emails to see if you're targeted. Hope this helps someone.

Just an FYI to anyone looking for a lower priced NBN provider:

Any provider that offers a "discount" for being with them for other services such as mobile, gas, electricity, etc is generally a bad idea.

Since they're purchasing NBN wholesale services from the same place as everyone else, it means the "base" price will be higher to compensate for the so-called loyalty discount. The loyalty discount simply brings it back down to around the same level as everyone else.

Even if the discounted rate ends up being decent, it also locks you in for multiple utilities. That's not good. It increases the barrier to changing providers for any of the locked in utilities when a better deal comes up.

Go look at the NBN plans for Origin, AGL, etc. I guarantee you their undiscounted base prices are noticeably higher, usually around $10 so they can "discount" it for their dumber customers to make them feel like they're getting a deal.
