Each amaysim nbn™ plans comes with no lock-in contracts and unlimited data you so all you need to do is pick the one you want to trial:

  • Any lockin contracts? :S

    • +3

Nope! No lock-in contracts and if you grab a modem from us it comes unlocked too :).

  • -1

You have the price for Mbps of speed but no mention of GB per month capacity? Are we to guess?

    • +3

Go on have a guess! Just kidding, our amaysim nbn plans come with unlimited data every month.

      • +7

Can you do anything better than unlimited? :p

        • +1

Why not just use double your unlimited plan to make it more worthwhile;)

        • +1

iinet do 'Limitless'… perhaps that is better?? ;)

        • I heard they offer double unlimited, ask for that.

        • @cloudy: Triple it and i'm sold!

The only way they can double/triple the unlimited is to offer double/triple the speed :p

      • -1

        Is that all?

  • Sounds good, I'm on a NBN plan trying spree to finally get off Telstra.
May as well give it a go!

    • That's the spirit! Let me know if you need a hand at any stage :).

      • Can't wait for the call!

        Couple of questions:

        • Who's your backhaul/wholesale provider?
        • If I already have services on Uni-D1, are you able to provision on Uni-D2/3/4?
        • Just received the call!! Getting connected in two days.

        • Woohoo!! Welcome to the team!

        • Yep we can certainly provision on Uni-D2/3/4 :)

        • edit: just received the email saying its activated. Can't wait to go home and try 100/40 speed

        • @ashikk: :o Still waiting for my call

        • @amaysim Min K: I was told that I get a month free but now it's two months free as per title. Am I still eligible for 2 months.

        • +1

@ashikk: I have been talking to them, through the setup support group. They say they will call me back on this. Will let you know if this is happening

        • @ashikk: Amaysim got back and said I have an extra month. I suggest you contact them to arrange this

        • @RockyRaccoon: thanks rocky!! Will contact them on Monday.
So far it's going great. Top speed, easy installation, quick activation. If this keeps on going I will say good buy to tpg

        • @amaysim Min K: Awesome! I'll be waiting for the call

  • Hmmmm…on a trial i'd kind of want better rates than that! The assumption is you'll want feedback, the service might be sketchy whilst you iron out the kinks and yet it's still (minus the 1st free month which can often be had by calling a provider up front if you ask) not the cheapest. For example https://www.letsbemates.com.au/nbn/ is $59/$69/$89 for the same plans with no up front fees and no contract.

  • Is it pricing per 28 day month? Or an actual month?

    • +10

      Don't give them ideas.

      • +3

LOL - they pushed their mobile plans to 28 days ages ago. Dodgy as. They decided to extract more cash from users and increase profits. How to do so? Easy! Add an extra month to the year: just rework the calendar so there's 13 months in the year. Shazamm!! THEN they mess with data allowances so as to induce plan creep. THEN they offer a "bargain" plan which is marginally cheaper than the plan creep plan they moved you to, but more than you were paying.

Basically, they game their users. Of which, I was one. Never again though.

    • Our amaysim nbn plans come with unlimited data that lasts for 31 days.

      • +2

        Even in Febuary? :D

        • +3

On the last day of February, the only movie we let you stream is The Phantom Menace, which often feels like it's a few days long :P.

  • Must be the day for NBN:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/304042
Belong NBN Unlimited 100/40 $57/Month for 13 Months (12 Month Contract)

Amaysim is $90/month, $33 more per month

Also, not much of a trial offering IMHO.

    Min, how is this competitve?

    • It's not, just want your feedback

      • Where's the incentive to be part of the trial?
One free month doesn't cut it.

        • +2

If you could come up with a competitive trial offer what would you want it to include? I'm open to suggestions :).

        • A cashback from Cashrewards seems to be a popular choice.

        • +2

          @amaysim Min K:
          12 months FREE

        • +1

@amaysim Min K: 3 months free + 6 months Netflix would get a lot of eager people wanting to trial.

    • +1

To be fair, that Belong deal is more of a price hack than an actual advertised deal.

    • Good question, amaysim nbn offers no lock-in contracts, unlimited data every month (30 days), and we also set up your nbn connection free of charge (so that's a $0 standard activation fee which with other providers could set you back a pretty penny). That being said, I'm open to suggestions. If you have any ideas on how I can make this offer more compelling please let me know.

      • +3

How about be different? Lts be honest, we all know cheap ISP problems are that the promised speeds aren't reached during weak because they all skimp on CVC. So it might be true the speeds can be reached during the mornings or middle of the day, but definitely no chance at 5pm-10pm.

How about you offer plans targeting off peak users, and set down load limit during the 5-10pm window (say 50gb per month) and make the plans CHEAP!.

I would honest dig plans like that.

        • why not just go with Telecube?

      • +2

and we also set up your nbn connection free of charge

Does this mean you absorb nbnco's $300 new development fee?

      • +2

        You just said 31! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/4635386/redir

I want my extra day back!

    • That is so confusing I'm sure half the people who try won't achieve that hack, lol, that's assuming the loophole doesn't get closed before u get ur 13months.

    • I wonder how much hair regeneration products/treatment one will have to go through to regain their hair loss from all the hassle. At least with amaysim, I can have a good night sleep and knowing my wallet won't get robbed.

  • +2

Definitely not competitive at $60 a month for up to 12/1Mbps….I'm getting that with Adsl2+ for $55 no contract!

    • I'm getting 100/40 unlimited for $69/month with TPG FTTB. NBN is not comperitive…

  • +6

    "NBN" at 12mbps…what a joke

    • +1

I get adsl at 3mbs, a massive upgrade from .8 mbps when my line was fuzzy, 12 would be a dream :)

      • +2

Try downloading pron with a 1200 baud modem!

        • +1

Back in the days of 1200 baud finding much more than low res bikini pictures was tricky. Apparently. No way I'm that old that I know from first hand experience. No, definitely not.

      • It's a dream on the FTTN…

I'm still waiting for the FTTP…

    • I once bought 12mbps from Spintel, but they delivered 2.5mbps. THAT'S a joke. Had to go to TIO, now with Telstra.

      • And what do you get now? And is that adsl?

I am thinking I get low speeds due to my distance from house to exchange. But I'm sure if that is the reason

        • Was and is NBN. Now bought 25Mbps, get 24.5Mbps delivered. Happy.

        • So you went from 2.5mbps to 25mbps on ADSL? By switching providers?

        • @cloudy: I would change to Telstra if they could promise the speed…

  • +3

    Sounds great, few questions:
    Do you NAT the IPs?
Anything against customers running a server on their connection?
Do you have an option for static IPs (or any plans to)?

    • +1

      Awesome questions, let's unpack them:

      Do you NAT the IPs?
      – We don't NAT the IPs. IPs are currently dynamic only.

Anything against customers running a server on their connection?
      – You're welcome to use your service in whatever way makes you happy, provided you operate within our Fair Use guidelines. Keep in mind these are residential services so if you're running a server farm you might get noticed.

Do you have an option for static IPs (or any plans to)?
      – Static IPs aren't currently an option but should be coming soon.

If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask!

      • Is IPv6 available?

  • Oh my area will be NBN ready by JUNE/JULY. I suppose you need takers now?

    • Good to hear you'll be up and running in June/July but you're right - we're after testers to give us feedback over the next couple of days. That being said if you'd like to stay updated on all things amaysim nbn (so that when your area becomes nbn ready you can have all the info you need at your fingertips), you can register your interest here: https://www.amaysim.com.au/plans/nbn/register-interest

      • I'll be on the NBN, somewhere around next year (or the year after that…)

Can you run a fibre connection for me? :D

  • Can someone tell me does kodi work ok with my republic or is it blocked?

    • It should… It's just Internet. Unless I'm missing something….

      You mean exodus right?

    • On the. belong deal on ozb someone said that belong block the link to kodi for streaming

  • +1

    Who is your wholesale provider?

  • Very competitive price indeed with a reputable provider.
I am with amaysim (vaya currently) for a few years now and the value & service has been second to none.
happy to give it a crack, no lockin contract, why not?
amaysim has been very competitive since the very beginnning and I appreciate that you constantly disrupt the telco market to benefit consumers. Hopefully, you can still manage to make some profit out of it.

    • Aww that's awesome to hear, thanks for your positive words. If you ever need a hand with anything don't hesitate to reach out. We're more than happy to help :).

  • +1

I'm interested, just about to move to my new place with NBN FTTP (waiting for NBN to be competent and connect the apartment to the network). Wouldn't mind trying out your service. Decent pricing.

    • That's fantastic to hear! If you register your interest with us (at this link: http://amays.im/nbn) we'll be able to keep you updated on all things amaysim nbn :).

  • +2

$70-$80/month for 100/40 - FTTP. You will have me as a customer. With TPG $79.99 25/5 with home phone bundle ATM but willing to pay a little extra for top speed.

    • +1

If a RSP had 100:1 contention ratio then your 100 plan would cost them $38 + $15 in NBN charges alone.

  • How long does it take to port from Telstra?

    • To port from Telstra would depend on the services class you have. If it's service class 3 or 6 we can activate a separate UNI D port within a day and you can simply cancel your Telstra service when you're ready :).

  • +5

    what backhaul do you use?

    • +1

I want to know this answer too, It seems lots of us do

  • +1

Confirming that I can cancel after the 30 days?

    • +1

Yep! No lock-in contracts mean you have the freedom to leave whenever you like.

  • +1

How about answering the question above: "what backhaul do you use?"

Of course, I'll have an educated guess and say "Optus". If that is the case (and probably why you have chosen to ignore answering the question) then everybody STAY AWAY. Rubbish network, congested to the point that it is worse than ADSL1!

I'm happy to be corrected though! :)

    • -2

We're building a hybrid network that'll use various carriers to deliver internet services to nbn connected premises. These arrangements will evolve over time as we increase our footprint, adding network components and partners as scale and customer experience demand. Our design goals are to use leading edge technologies to build an efficient and secure network that meets customer expectations on speed and latency. Hope that answers your question!

      • +2

Nope, it doesn't answer my question. Just typical sales spiel. I'm in the industry (and have been for a long time) so don't beat around the bush. There are not that many wholesalers around so it isn't hard for you to just say. However, I'm definitely putting my money on you guys using Optus (especially now that you have deliberately avoided mentioning anybody and also since you already use them for your mobile services).

        • Well, as per this article it seems I am at least partially correct with my guess of you using (rubbish) Optus as your wholesaler:

          https://www.itnews.com.au/news/amaysim-puts-speeds-at-centre…

Thumbs down to you for your lack of honesty, Amaysim rep!

I would now 100% recommend until you can promise people won't be put onto the congested and slow Optus network for users to STAY AWAY FROM AMAYSIM NBN!

    • Just checked via whatismyipaddress and it says ISP:Aapt
