Hi from my understanding these are well reviewed and this is an all time low for these. Need to have an Amazon US account (I started a new account on a free trial). I let Amazon covert to AUD for the pricing. No idea what the "exchange rate guarantee fee" is but feel like I got ripped off there… You can avoid this by paying in USD.

Happy hunting people.

Now I just need to wrangle a Dac/Amp for these. Shout out to @jasswolf for help and guidance today!

If you are on a budget, I love my HiBy R4. If you have a bit more cash (and especially if you use Roon), I picked up a CA1000 recently which is excellent. Both drive my LCD-2C no problem, so should be fine for these.

      • Thanks for the pointers @mostlygordon, it's appreciated. I'll take a look.

How do we get Roon for cheap?

        • +1

Yeh their offers are few and far between it seems. Seen a few things posted on Reddit re occasional lifetime discounts, or discounts offered when cancel membership after a decent stint…

And no real material benefits via VPN to other countries either I don’t think…

Am currently on free trial but really just to suss, can’t see myself coughing up the asking rate (yeh, where my OzB badge proud)

        • Why do you need Roon?

          • @AncientWisdom: I did trial and likes two things:
            1. nice mix of my local content and Tidal content
            2. discovery

Yeah, not worth full price in my opinion.

    • What did the J-wolf recommend?

      • Heya @gazer, Jasswolf recommended the Shanling Onix XI1. Also the Schiit Midguard for the amp bit was still giving some thought on the dac.

        • +1

Ah yep midguard looks great, and I replied about the onix here

Running this with a Topping DX3 Pro+ for the last 2 years

    on windows with EqualizerAPO

    really good.

This is an amazingly low price for these though

    • Agreed that price is wild.

Last deal with amazon was $599 I'm pretty sure.

    • Using a EQ like Oratory, Resolve’s etc, or just your own flavour? I’ve been dabbling with a few…

Running off my B650e mobo and Magni 3 - wondering if I’ll really gain anything much going with a DX3 or maybe a SMSL C200 ($230)? I’m not super sensitive to subtle diffs in SQ…. I often wonder if I'm not just level matching properly and the one with more gain sounds better lol

      • The truth is that no one really is… 😉

Ha, too true. Yep have sussed ASR!

  • This is an insane deal, I have been using it then for a couple of years now and rate them very highly.

Recently got them in the second to last Ali Ex coupon sale for $447 delivered from a high rated seller. Delivery was quick. Unit is all hunky dory, just hope my pair last!

But this price with Amazon warranty (albeit US) is nice!

Was worried about size, but get away with them unextended and reasonably comfy - headband does get a bit sore in one spot after a couple of hours (but I got no hair..), but I just shift position - will probs try the headstrap mod from Custom Cans.

On more average recordings I can’t hack the upper harshness and sibilance, so I EQ them. Also like a bit more bottom end, but they’re pretty good there already :-)

  • Picked up a pair but kind of daunted by the dac/amp scenario. Based on my research the Qudelix-5K seems to be the cheapest option available. Anyone know anything better?

I ended up landing on the zen dac v2 from addicted to audio for $229. It has fantastic reviews and the price is good.

      • +1

Thanks man, ended up going the same seeing that Addicted to Audio had them on Sale. Was also considering the Fiio K11.

Who knew there are so many options for what I had previously thought was a fairly niche product.

The Qudelix is a very good option. Check our the SMSL c200 for another non portable option
