That original price seems inflated $15 at Supercheap and $11 at total tools.

    Still good price

Tape measure is a tape measure - I love this little guy though https://www.bunnings.com.au/crescent-lufkin-shockforce-nite-…

Better than using the ikea 1m paper tape measure

There's the el cheapo craftright brand as well for $2

Using 3m one for years but creased the end when I dropped a pipe on it. Fits nicely in pocket.

Tape measure is a tape measure

      The hell it is.

      What is the standout?
      Magnetic hook?
      Strength of magnet?
      Single or double hook?
Hook secured by how many pins?
      Hook slide accuracy?
      Nylon coated?
How long does the coating last?
      How long is the coating?
      Double sided ruler?
      Metric and Imperial?
      Impact resistance?
      Belt clip?
      Lock design?
      How long to recoil?
How does it handle dust and dirt?
      Body measurement displayed?

Horses for courses. I’m not disputing any of the above - but for Johnny average (ie someone whose idea of a tape measure is ikea’s tape), they wouldn’t know what half of that list is, never mind having a need for it.

    • The things I’m measuring are more than 3metres ;)

  • such a good deal!

  • Measure 5m/16"

    The conversion maths doesn't mathematical.

    • Maybe it means 16'?

Pretty annoying to use with one side in imperial.
Good for the kids to work on their fractions I guess.

    • +4

Nearly every tape measure I own bar one is like this though. I thought it was pretty standard to have both metric and imperial.

      • +2

Not if you use it for work and your marking and cutting things off it all day. Unless you work in an industry which uses both systems. Some tapes have imperial in the centre, this has it all down one side, so if your measuring millimetres in a tight corner it’s not ideal. Ok for diy I guess.

    • Unfortunately Australia still hangs onto the imperial system, will be a few generations more before we get off it

    • For the folks of us that play Pickleball it was very much needed..

Finally, Something to measure it with.

    • You can obtain the length of your car from the manufacturers website under specifications.

      • I do not own a car and if I did it would not have a website.

So this one is coated? Will it stop my fear of getting sliced by the retracting tape?

  • +1

I would buy ten of these if it was in mm only

  • +3

prefer my Lufkin double sided mm but good deal if you like inches (why!!?)

    • link?

      • Lufkin shock force nite eye, they've got a gen 2 that improves on some stuff

I prefer the Milwaukee belt hook, bent wire rather than sheet metal is easier to clip on to things in my experience.

Edit: if you're looking for a tape you'll use regularly, recommend going to total tools or similar (not Bunnings) and try a few out. Lots of options out there

  • I've had one of these for 9 years now, still going strong around the house when needed.

  • Thanks ordered 2, I keep loosing my tape measures. Wife blames me

    • +1

Well, if she's blaming you, she's probably just covering her tracks. its classic diversion tactic!

  • Good for home use only and RRP of $30 is a joke.

  • -2

Anyone know where this made in?

    • +3

For $7 who cares honestly come on

      • Chillax. Was just curious. I thought if it was made in Germany and the like then it would be even more of a bargain than it already was.

    • Made in Greenland

  • This is a decent tape measure but.. it doesn’t have a lot of reach before folding. But quality wise, it’s a decent tape.

  • Amazon price jacking RRP to a great extent.
    This is $11 tape
