  • Much cheaper at TGG commercial

    • How much?

      • +2

        3 pack $440
        2 pack $313

    • +2

I can't login to confirm, but every time this gets suggested, it's usually not the "pro" model like this one is

      • +2

You are correct. GGC is non pro.

      • +3

That's true. The only difference seems to be the inclusion of a 2.5gbps ethernet port on the pro. Probably of limited utility in this country with gigabit or below internet speeds, and a steep price increase between TGGC and this offer

        • Yeah it absolutely isn't something that most people would ever utilise for sure. But just pointing out the trend of pro price vs non pro price :)

    • Do they have BE25 and BE65 on there? I'm still waiting on my login for it. Takes forever.

      • +1

Not listed on the commercial site, as is often the case with newer products. But you can email them for the commercial quote for any product listed on the main TGG website. From memory BE65 2 pack is approx $550 on commercial pricing

        • legend. Thanks mate. Do you know if vouchers can be used on their corporate portal?

          • +1

@ONEMariachi: No idea. You have to get a manual quote anyway for those BE models

            • @evasive: All good I got them to honour the price you stated by calling their price check number for the ordinary website haha. Scored the 2 pack for $550

  • Warning, the Deco line does not allow you to switch off DHCP unless you switch to AP mode, this unfortunately means you can’t use something like PiHole to be the DHCP server and have more control or visibility into clients on the network.

    • +2

Thanks, all of it went straight above my head.

      • You know, Pie Holes and stuff.

    • Yep exactly it's annoying so my 2 decos just sit in AP mode behind an opnsense router

  • I sent another Deco version back because there is no option to bind a device to a particular node. Went with Asus XT8 instead.

    • +1

You CAN bind devices to nodes on XE75 Pro.

      • +2

You can on the XE75 too.

        • I had the X80 and I had all sorts of issues with it flipping between different bands and reassigning the backhaul to the band I needed to put another device on. Maybe I am mistaken about it being just a node binding thing but it definitely was a nightmare for the air link use case.

          • +1

@Gorby: I had an issue because in the 3 pack, I only used 2, but updated the firmware. I was unable to link the last device as a result of the conflicting firmware versions, so I had to use the third one as a temporary main gateway, update, then reconnect the system. Could be a firmware conflict issue which hides under a bunch of other errors.

  • What do you mean by bind? Doesn't msh switches automatically to the nearest router/node?

    • +2

It goes to the one with the strongest signal, which is what you want for a device that you're moving around the house with. But in the overlap zones between these nodes you can have stationary devices like a TV switching between equally strong signals on different nodes and disrupting the connection as it does.

There are also use cases like air link for VR where you want to connect your computer to a node with ethernet and then have a wifi connection directly with that node, rather than it flipping to some other one and running your data first through wifi backhaul between the nodes and then back to your headset.

      • +2

I do believe that there is a setting in this model to turn off roaming for individual devices, which may help with an issue like this

        • +2

Correct, can confirm you can assign a single node/satellite to any device with these units, which is very handy for stationary units etc

  • With 6E not needed, this or AX5400 at $184?

    • How large is your property? The only time I would ever touch a standalone router again is if I lived in an apartment. If you live in a unit or house, mesh is the only way.
