        Ah this brings back memories.

  • What's the purpose? Burger patty smasher?

    • Can assist in maintaining pressure thereby full surface contact during a sear.

This is more for bacon or steak. Need a smooth surface for smashed burgers.

    • pretty much, yt has been recommending me videos lately for smashed burgers, guess its a trend thing

      • guess its a trend thing

        it's been a thing for a while

I reckon smash burgers are here to stay. it's scientifically the best way to cook a burger

To help ensure the protein is in contact (flatly or evenly) with the heat source. I use mine (Lodge) on bacon, sausages, steaks, fish and so on.

And occassionally as one big paperweight. Lol

      • Oh. Sausages. They curl up at times. Why did I not think of using the one I've got on sausages (even if it's just stainless steel and not heavy like this cast iron one). D'oh moment right there.

Heat it in your pan or BBQ plate first and it helps cook quicker, seals the meat and reduces spatter. I have a round one and use it in a CI pan slightly bigger in diameter almost as a heated press or lid.

  • Do you wash these in hot soapy water & then have to re-oil to stop rust?
