Been looking for a standalone scanner for paper documents. Seems to be a very popular unit for portable document scanners. If you don't need the duplex scanning or wireless connection, the DS-640 is a cheaper option.

  Thought about it but in the end just got an MFC since it was hardly any more expensive (probably because they can then try on-sell you the overpriced cartridges)

  Sold my old MFC as well so the cost was very similar

  What's the best scanner (that's not the $1600 v850)? Doesn't need to be portable.

      I should have been more specific. Image scanning is what I'm after. And price. I have no other requirements (no OCR, not portable, etc.. don't care)
