These are rated 10a max right? Should be safe for high power appliances like airfryer or oil heater?
Yeah of course.
Similar model $12 at Big W atm - https://www.bigw.com.au/product/eko-wifi-power-plug-with-ene…
(Tuya based).
I have homeassistant. When do i need to get a hub eg. tapo hub or aqara hub?
For example tapo temperature & humity or tapo contact sensor says hub. So even though I have HA do i now need to buy another hub??
Sometimes these listings say hub required?
I really don't get it. Help!!! I'm new to HA.
I know this device here works without hub but I'm getting deeper into HA and want more tapo devices and they say hub required. Same for aqara. Some devices say hub required.
Same i want to know, i want to get tapo temperature sensor currently $43 at amazon
$38 here all the way from japan, https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0BWCL335L?psc=1&smid=A2K69GP4E…
sayonara
You can use the official Tapo Add-on. You won't need a hub in this case, your HA installation acts as the hub.
including this as well ? https://www.amazon.com.au/TP-Link-Tapo-Temperature-Notificat…
temp sensor
Hub-Connected Devices3: T110, T300, T310, T315
Looks like yes.
@JSONBourne: So yes I need the hub to setup it seems?
T100 cannot be setup / paired / connected to wifi without the hub it seems.
@MrBillions: yep t100 t110 are the same i think
@CyberMurning: So yes Tapo Hub even with Home Assisant?
It seems they cannot be setup without it.
Operated once setup/paired to wifi perhaps but first they need to be paired and for that it seems I need the hub.
The hubs support lower powered devices (think battery operated) by using a different communications system rather than wifi. Generally if it runs off a battery you'll need a hub.
awesome !!
Also any recommendations for a good thermostat that fits into the home assistant eco system?
I have some dumb braemar TST that does nothing but on/off manually.
just received the tapo t100 motion sensor and can't seem to setup without a hub?
the app guides me to the hub setup.

This all still convoluted with hubs and different protocols eveywhere.
i think the t100 motion sensor needs the hub.
well title say need hub so…
Quoting JSONBourne here: "You can use the official Tapo Add-on. You won't need a hub in this case, your HA installation acts as the hub."
Ended buying a hub. Because it was needed.
While for Tapo Smart Plug you don't need a hub, for sensor and some other devices, you need a hub. It is even written on their box.

Thinking about replacing all tapos smart plugs. They were very stable until last week. Annoying dropouts and no changes in my network.
Thanks! I just saw screenshots of the monitoring page, looks like exactly what I needed.
