    A cheap diamond stone sharpener or an oilstone might also be better alternatives if you want to sharpen more often: the 10 mins soaking in water beforehand made me get something else for sharpening my woodwork tools.

  For chisels, these kinds of stones need wetting before use.

  Diamond stones can be expensive.

  Belt sander?
  What grit belt?

  I've always wondered , why do people get so excited when the knife sharpening man announces he's going to be at some weekend festival?

  Apart from requiring some physical effort won't these do just as well and more regularly?
