Honestly, I had no idea you could still get brand name mSATA drives and have no idea if this is of any use to anyone but a deal is a deal.

Yep, I bought something similar last year for much more for an older mini PC which had a drive die.
Good deal OP!I have an old Intel 4th gen box, it says the motherboard and I can see 2x connectors..
- Mini PCI express slot
- Mini PCI express Or mSATA slot
I assume this msata drive in the post will fit slot 2.
Is it correct that the more modern PCI E gen 3, gen 4 NVMe won't fit / work in any of these? Those would be faster I think but they won't work?
They (nvme) might work with a pcie adapter. You’d need to check if it would be bootable though, if that’s what you’d need.
Ohhhh…boot…will check bios for boot order. But I found these msata slot the connectors are different to nvme. M key and B key thing…this msata is completely different. So I will have to order this one and use in slot 2.
If you need msata for the slot on your board this will do the job but one of these (or something similar) should work in a spare x4 (or faster) pcie slot with a nvme drive.

Is this the same as m.2 SATA? (Not NVME)
No. This is msata.
Cheers. Just been googling. Had no idea msata was a thing. I need m.2 SATA which is also difficult to find from brand names now.
The WD SA510 is probably your best bet for m.2 sata I reckon. There are other options though, from Silicon Power etc.
Yeah it can be a bit confusing!
mSATA is connection and interface type
m.2 is a connection type
NVME is a interface type that typically uses m.2 connection typeFor SSDs, there was SATA, mini-SATA (mSATA), NGFF, and finally NVME. The latter two both use m.2 connectors, but NGFF uses SATA while NVME uses PCIE. m.2 can support SATA, USB or PCIE devices, although I assume the motherboard has to be designed with this in mind also…?

So expensive on Amazon and this is on the 256GB version. I got the Lenovo 1TB version from Aliexpress for $60 in October.
Sure can! I paid $41 for this https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07QFXJ3NX last June so your post is a deal :D
