Damn, wish it was 12"…I like the skull, but I already have a regular 10.25" Lodge ($11 back in the day! lol)

I don't really get the skull on the bottom thing. Like, when will it ever be seen unless you hang your pots/pans up in a country-style kitchen.

Or is it just meant to be ornamental and when SHTF, throw it on the stove and when the eyes glow red you go to work on the zombie hordes?

I guess if you hit someone it will imprint the ornament into their face.

It's just a bit of fun…you're overthinking it.

It would otherwise be a plain unused (except for pizza!) surface, so why not put some decoration on there.

I would think of it more as a tip of the hat / wink to the people who admire these things - and I could see it as an interesting detail on a pan being passed down to a grandchild in 50 years time. (Oh hey, its grandpa's skull pan he used to cook us eggs on!)

Buy a plain one if you dont care for that - there are plenty of those around! :)

I really like it, it's just a shame I can't admire it more as I don't hang pots/pans as I would love to be able to do.

You make a great point about passing it down. I might have to grab one anyway!

I'm pretty chuffed I managed to find the last fancy looking frypan with hex-gridding from Aldi. I can admire my cheapness everytime I use it! 😍

          All good - enjoy!

I think it will make a fantastic heirloom one day - and you can remember talking to a rando on Ozbargain when you pass it down! Ahaha :)

I have an 80ish year old lodge (from the 40's I believe) - which I wish I could say was some sort of family heirloom! (Was a US fleamarket pickup.) Would be cooler if it had a skull on it! :)

            @caprimulgus: Haha, will do!

            Woah, nice find!

I never realised Lodge was such a long-standing name! Definitely going to snap one up then.

            Can't knock quality!

            • @WasBargain: Yeah, 1896 apparently!

Well…even though I really didnt need another 10" skillet, you / we have convinced me to buy one too! Ahaha.

My 3yo son loves spooky skeletons (it's as close to being tenuously meaningful to us as any of the Lodge designs - which tend to be very USA centric), so I hope he appreciates this pan one day! :)

  • Good price especially with the silicone handle heat protector which costs more than $10 on its own, and will be very useful to have.

Kind of wish it was the 12 inch size on special, but given the heavy weight of these pans, the 10.25 inch one might be a good balance of weight and function.
