Kinda disappointed they didn’t reduce the 512. And it’s not a great discount either.

  • +1

    Meh

    • -2

      Yeah you

    • +2

      Tah

  • ordered and cancelled 512gb is a must

  • +7

256gb should have been the mimimum.

    • +14

User expandable storage should be the minimum everywhere…

  • I've been waiting for the price to drop for like a month. Better than nothing. I went through App for extra $20 off first purchase. Didn't think the cashbacks of 15% would apply to this? More like 1% (via Topcashback). Not sure if it'll track through App. Maybe should have used Shopback app which opens the Prime app (0.05%).

I was curious though, on the Meta website they took Asgard Wrath off as a promotion (ended on 30.06.2024 last they advertised). Amazon is the only place I've seen it still in the title only. I wonder if this is a mistake and if it can still be redeemed? Anyone did it after June. I took a screenshot just in case I need to contact support.

    • +1

I too am curious about the Asgard Wrath situation - I'll know by tomorrow! I ordered mine this morning when the game was still advertised as being included (also have screenshot).

I suspect however that when I am unable to claim the game, Amazon will apologise and offer me a refund only - it seems they've taken a much harder line when it comes to giving away money, compensation or promotional credit

      • Yes. I think chances are can't claim. What do you think they will refund you for? The value of the game, nominal amount for inconvenience or just say return item? Update us if you have time. If I get to it first, I'll update.

        Update from Amazon customer service:

"We are aware of a known issue limiting certain customers from being able to access the bonus Asgard’s Wrath II game. We are working to rectify the issue and will email you a redemption code to enter in the Meta Quest Store once available. We are hoping to make these codes available to you by 23 July"

        • This is great news. Thank you for this!

  • +4

Nooooooo, I need discount for the 5122222222gb.

  • Did Jack get to this before the sale? Was 799 earlier, now has a base price of 899. Prob didn’t come with Asgard’s Wrath 2 though… I will keep holding

  • +1

Disappointing that 512 isn't on offer. I'll pass.

  • Do I "really" need 512GB? Considering I'll mainly use it for "work" purposes of having virtual screens etc.. along with running stuff off my PC like a VR unit? I know you can get games to download onto it directly, but I've also read that most of them aren't that big and 128GB can store significant amount?

    • +2

128 is fine. Most are around 5 gb

    • +1

Yeah, I'm the same with PC. Have a couple on the Quest 2 but I prefer the games I have on the PC.

    • +1

128GB is fine since if you are playing PC VR, your games are being streamed via your PC anyway. You don't require any storage on the Oculus apart from maybe VirtualDesktop or SteamLink apps.

    • +3

Had 128 for 5 months now. Play PCVR and direct. I have about 10 decent size games, small stuff, sidequest ant an time and no issues. You can delete games and reinstall as needed and most of the ones you would come back to down the track save your progress.
It would be nice to have 512 but for me easy to manage on 128

  • Psvr is also decent with horizon for $738…
    I'm tempted

  • Did they ever bring back casting to Chromecast?

    • +1

      yes you can cast

New accounts can use the OzBargain referral randomiser to get $47 meta credit: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/meta.com
Some people report success referring a new secondary account if they have an existing account https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/15059765/redir

There's also a page for a 25% discount off meta quest games using ozbargain referal links https://www.ozbargain.com.au/referral/oculus
Can add new games via https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/139622/comments

    • to get $47 credit, do I have to buy headset from meta directly? How does it work?

      • +1

No, any retailer. Just create a meta account via a referral link before you first turn the headset on.

  • Have a PSVR2 with a virtuallink adaptor on PC which is great for being able to have the oled display and no compression like you do over the quests wireless streaming or usb-c cable. However I do msis out on a lot of games like Asgards Wrath, AC Nexus and the upcoming Hitman VR. Curious if anyone has tried both and can compare what they prefer. For this price could probably sell my psvr and get most of the money towards this. I play 99% on PCVR only, have a ps5 but don't play vr on it.

    • Worth noting it looks like the virtual link after is discontinued, but on August 7 Sony is releasing an official PSVR2 to PC adapter for $95.

  • -1

do I also need to invest in a gaming PC? : -000000

    • Meta Quest are standalone headsets and a PC is optional.

  • Back in the day the 64 gig Quest 2 was ample but the new games are BIG and lately I have had to delete most of my stuff just to fit a few of the newer games on. I'd consider a version that had 256 gig memory but not 128

  • +1

    nooooo missed out

    • Should be some other deals floating as competition

      • Can only hope, just like how easy amazon is to use though

  • Damn, messed around trying to get a gift card and missed out ;(

Anyone we can sign up to get notified of a restock?

    • That's what I am hoping for also… F5……F5…….F5….

  • -1

Back in stock, but also back to $899.

    • wow at pricing of $899. It has been $799 on Amazon since launch day for the most part

    • Not really, sold by SkyRadar not Amazon. Going to keep an eye on the page and hope

  • Back in stock from Amazon AU for $799

    • Just refreshed the page after seeing 799 and it is now up to 897. Both fulfilled by Amazon AU so not too sure how fluid their pricing is…

  • +1

Just refreshed and it's back to $699.99

    • Brilliant, thanks for the update. Got one. Was kicking myself for taking so long to decide that 128GB should be enough for mainly PCVR.

      • Just ordered mine too! Looks like we miss out on the free game but I'll take it, had a $20 coupon to use too great deal for $680

  • +2

Looks like Amazon has allocated more stock, but they've updated the listing and Asgards Wrath 2 is no longer included.

    • +1

guessing they had old boxed stock which still had the Coupon or whatever for Asgards game which has now all been sold

  • Available again.

  • How do we redeem Asgards Wrath? Didn't get a notif in headset like other people said. Got the (Asgard’s Wrath 2 Game Included with Purchase).

    • +2

      Update from customer service:

"We are aware of a known issue limiting certain customers from being able to access the bonus Asgard’s Wrath II game. We are working to rectify the issue and will email you a redemption code to enter in the Meta Quest Store once available. We are hoping to make these codes available to you by 23 July"

  • looks like isntead of usual $100 promo credit they just took $100 off. so OK deal? use $20 off $59, $10 off pickup and $20 promo credit from $500 Amazon GC deal (or $10 promo with $200 GC if you didn't get that one) to knock it down a bit I guess.

people be hung up on the possible price error when it dropped to $500 something. that was a real deal.

    • Can't recall the Quest 3 dropping to $500. I think you might be referring to the 512GB one being mispriced ($800).

      • +1

Can't recall the Quest 3 dropping to $500. I think you might be referring to the 512GB one being mispriced ($800).

pretty sure it wasn't posted and was in comments. very brief price error I think. $570 or $530 or something.

can't bother searching it up now because it's gonna be hard as hell to find.

        • Wow that would have been heck of a deal in that case.

          • +1

@dins: yeah I think one comment did say "bought" but not sure how true that is or if it was fulfilled.

I have heard of amazon not fulfilling expensive price errors, and when contacting support they provide you with sorry credit (like $50 to $100 I have heard).

  • +2

Available again for $699, seems game not included though

  • +2

512 Gig version now showing as unavailable - wondering if its about to be put back up as a Prime deal

    • Fingers crossed.

    • If I recall, I think this happened with the Quest 2. I initially bought the 64GB variant and ended up returning for the 256GB version, all within an earlier PRIME period.

  • Not sure why the comment was deleted as spam maybe it was the links.

Anyhow pair it with a decent head strap like the BOBOVR https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006124803166.html? off AliExpress and the QuestGamesOptimizer (https://anagan79.itch.io/quest-games-optimizer) and you've got yourself a top notch VR kit for the price.

Also don't forget to sign up via a Meta referral for store credit and use game/app referrals/sales as well to make the most of it.

    • +2

Aliexpress app sharing links get detected as referral links by our system because they use the same URL formatting referral or affiliate links meaning you will need to share the long / expanded link to avoid having the system auto unpublish the comment. I have inserted those expanded link into your comment

      • Ah ok thanks for that cheers bud! 🍻

    • Any idea if the bobovr s3 is worth the extra over the m3?

      • I haven't tried the S3 myself but for mine the M3 with 2 batteries is more than sufficient. That way you can just keep charging and swapping batteries as you go.

  • Thanks for posting this! just bought one - been itching to get a Quest 3 !! after a mate loaned me his quest 2 headset for a couple of weeks to try I was just blown away with how amazing VR is! there is so many awesome games I want to play but can't wait to get back to my Half-life 2 playthrough. Playing this in VR made me feel like a kid again! only got about 15% the way through so looking forward to playing through all of it!

It says "Headset only" but it does include the controllers right?

    • Yes they'll include controllers if you ask nicely.

    • how do people play Half life 2 via Quest? I presume you connect to PC with a cable?

      • +1

Oculus link (free) can be used over wifi or a usb cable. Alternatively you have virtual desktop (paid) with only wifi streaming but has more settings to tweak for your specific setup.
