Should wait until Jan 2025 to save $1.11 😛

Should learn how to cook rice

      • I just rapid boil my rice. Takes around 7 minutes.

  • I got this in clearance for $40 at my local Aldi a while ago. It's good. I'm happy with how the rice turns out. I've never used a super expensive one though

  • Need 2 or 3 cup

Digital = will be a glorified paperweight in several years. Why do they always try and over complicate some of the simplest possible devices?

I just used my DeLorean & checked several years ahead… it's still working.

    • They're pretty good, my unit (a tefal) weighs how much water you put in and adjusts cook time. Never had mushy rice for example. Only ever been slightly off and that's based on my measurements being off.

I have a digital "Tiger" brand rice cooker that is pushing 15 years old and still works like new.
The rice comes out noticeably better than the cheap simple type that only lasted a few years.

I am still eating Analog rice - I feel like a caveman.

These are for people who only want a bit.

  • Looks exactly like the $65 Kmart one - which isn't great

    • Looks can be deceiving…

    • Ours as been brilliant, works brilliantly every time. I couldn't justify paying hundreds for a machine that cooks one thing only.

  • What’s wrong with a pot and boiling water?

Usually you need to add rice to it.

        jv prefers to add rice

      Can't set and forget

You can. It used to happen every so often in our house until we got a rice cooker. Stuffed up quite a few pans that way.

I bought this for $19.99 at my local when it was on clearance back in April. I probably would've bought it at this price also, given it's performance, as it's an awesome rice cooker. Probably overkill for 1 person but I tend to make rice in batches anyway so it suits my needs well.
