good for those who didn't buy a bed base/frame with their Quokka mattress - made with solid Canadian timber (anyone know exactly what type?) apparently chipboard

similar alternatives:

  I have this bed in king size. Looks nice and the price was good but the “solid” timber is a veneer that in one place was peeling. I asked for a replacement part and was refused, instead offered a small sum in partial refund. I was able to glue the veneer back but was left pretty unhappy for a new product.

      Chipboard underneath veneer. NOT solid as I understand the term.

        given that it seems like false/deceptive advertising, did you try for a full refund/replacement as per ACL Consumer Guarantees?

    Is it the exact same bed? That's shockingly deceptive advertising.

    I went with a Quokka because I absolutely did not want a veneer, but if I'd seen this I may have been tempted - I'm glad I wasn't!

  We have the Eva bed frame linked above. I absolutely didn't want to pay that price for cnc cut plywood, but the wife won out. It's left me very impressed though. Looks great and is super solid. Not one squeak.

    thanks - yes, plywood isn't ideal, but like Leander cots, product still seems good

  For anyone in Melbourne interested in the Eva bed frame, I found a furniture store in Yarraville advertising significantly reduced prices of the frame (and mattresses!) on FB Marketplace - here are the posts:

  Not sure why the frames are discounted but I recently purchased a double frame from them and it was in perfect/new condition.

  They also seem to have some of the Eva modular sofas available at reduced prices.
