Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 256GB $0 or Galaxy Z Fold6 256GB $999 - Outright on Optus $69/M 24-Month Plan @ Harvey Norman

570

Optus phone plan offer T&Cs — Even though the $69 offers aren't on the page I linked, a little birdie told me they are legit.

CIS has changed so if customer cancels within 120 days, they have to pay half of remaining ($828 + $500)

Cancel method would be stay on for 4 months and cancel as $69x4 + $69/2x20 will work out to be like $966 all up for flip 6 and $1965 for fold 6.

no Preorder bonus gift card included.

      • Any deals or plans for S24 Ultra?? Thinking between Flip 6 and S24ultra.

I am using galaxy z flip3 which has been well for 2.5 years but all of sudden just went bonkers!!! As soon as i shut the flap the device just shuts off. Cant flip anylonger.

I am scared of the new flip6 will have this issue as well.

        • no offer on S24U at the moment.
flip series since flip 5 has had major quality of life changes, much better reliability.
In the meantime, would definitely take the flip3 to samsung to see if they can raise a claim under australian consumer law. may be entitled to a refund as that is a major failure.

          • @HardlyNormal: Thanks for the response!! Might go instore tomorow to grab this deal. A quick question!! Are there any trade in bonus for this deal??

If yes its going to be my first time doing trade ins!! Can i wait to get the new phone transfer data and then return the old phone? Unsure how this works. Thanks

            • +1

@Tokz666: no trade in bonus offer at HN, would recommend see what your device would go for at a place like webuyback or mobile monster as their value is good and so you can take ur time with data transfer. but regardless smart switch is sooo easy to use and transfer.

              • @HardlyNormal: Would you know if I accept any loyalty offer from Optus within the first 120 days like 50% discount for the remainder of the plan, will I be hit with a $500 cancellation fee by Harvey Norman? Thanks.

                • @rick5042: Did u manage to get them to offer u 50% off?? How did that happen??

I just signed up to this deal today and the HN rep was saying new clause now if we cancel early they will charge the whole gift card value (phone's RRP). So i am pretty confused on the cancellation charges.

                  • @Tokz666: @HardlyNormal Thoughts?

                  • @Tokz666: its confusing but they say base gift card value in the CIS which is $500.

                • +1

@rick5042: any discounts wont change the cancellation fee.

                  • @HardlyNormal: Sorry, do you mean won't charge cancellation fees?

                    • @rick5042: if you take a discount and cancel after 4 months, you will only be charged half amount owing ($690~)

  • standard Optus plan usually have 5G and international calls to some countries but this giftcard voice plan only use of 4G and no free international calls included, is this right? is there more things missing? I still think it's good deal if there's no significant price drop of the phone in next few months. I've been using Telstra and telstra network past nearly 14 years after shocking experience with 3 (Old Voda). People not using Telstra continue stated Telstra is good but I often have extremely bad reception in supermarket and/or shopping centre. Ringwood east Coles, Coles in Eastland shopping centre were main pain area. I find that some change yesterday but browser still not opening quickly when I was in eastland yesterday and I've connected with wifi to use. How's connection of Optus especially in Melbourne's east?

    • +1

this plan is uncapped 5g speed but no int calls. unlimited int calls to 35 countries for $10/m
have used optus frequently in ringwood area and surrounds and no issues for me personally.

      • Amazing, also I have galaxy watch 5 pro, which I scrapped to upgrade to Ultra so I'm considering to go with HN. can I add $5 for one number plan ?

also I'm with Uber eat partner, can I apply discount in a way?

        • yes you can use number share for your watch for $5/m.
not sure of any uber eats promos that work but if they add a credit to your account then yes.

          • @HardlyNormal: I just made a contract in HN Springvale. I preordered phone as Gold isn't in stock.

But my sim has been transferred and Speed is amazing with Optus 5G. I'm impressed of over 300 Mbps.

            • +1

@Ryoon: where i live i get ~600-700mbps down, i hotspot with unlimited data day to quickly download games and would never go back to an MVNO with capped speeds/4g.
only issue is in east melb 5g is pretty scarce, but 4g @ 200mbps is fine.

              • @HardlyNormal: I've been Telstra for so long, I felt that optus nextwork works better in East but no one believed me. I know some areas optus might have lack in west, but so far so great. I will be more than happy if average work out 150-200Mbps. what's unlimited data day ?

How is the total minimum cost $2,655 calculated? 🤔

    • Oh my God.!! Are we trapped by the contract?

    • possibly cancellation + phone value, can confirm that no additional phone charge will occur if cancelled after 120 days.

      • The terms and conditions as per the link I shared above apparently have been updated by an idiot. It refers to the gift card which is not a part of this deal at all and also refers to the critical information summary for $69 per month SIM only plan. This is obviously not a SIM only plan. Total minimum cost $2,655 is for the Fold6 which is an additional $999. So, $69 X 24 = $1,656 + $999 = $2,655, so not true for the Flip6. LOL!!

        • I'm working closely of reviewing contracts occasionally in the role, T&C often written with less care and re-use or replicate with other contracts and written unfairly with intention. We should read carefully when we sign the contract but I didn't read carefully of minimum cost. I liked service of optus, like the speed of connection, I will likely continue using them after 24 months., :)

    • any update of you attempt to accept the credit offer (half price for 12 months)?

    • I've acquired 50% off for 12 months and just applied to my account. Thank you so much Rick and also HardlyNormal, I have picked up the phone from store this afternoon after work too. I'm truely satisfied with Fast Optus network in east outer of Melbourne.

      • Great! So you practically got 50% discount from the day you received the new phone! Didn't even have to wait for the 120 days deadline?

        • 120 days are perhaps applied for cancellation as such,

what optus indicate is that HN sold Optus service, Optus gave user discount for 12 months. so I screenshot of important discussion just in case.

My optus sim was active and the plan started already from 30 July, I had a call and picked up the phone yesterday,

Before I pick up, I messaged optus online chat to discuss carefully, took some times but worthwhile.

I initially ordered flip and ultra watch with samsung and trading my old flip and 5 pro watch, I cancelled as I don't feel worth to pay over $1200 after giving away all of items I have. I saw your post and thought it would be worthwhile trying and even wiithout it, it's still near par with ordering from samsung.

          1. I'm with boost and going to expiry on late August, I thought to port out and buy another yearly plan but seriously boost signal is horrible and speed is not fast as optus 5G (based on my few days experience),

2 I may have bought boost $260 for $220 Telstra is increasing their plan again and market price will increase shortly in general, boost is not continuing $260 plan so next year I might paying for monthly likely somewhere $30-35 for sim only

          1. Number share option can be brilliant for my 5 Pro watch. only main provider like Telstra, optus and may be Vodafone offer number sharing, optus charge $5 per month and my watch will have same number and internet service if i understand correctly. I'm waiting for my new case, then transfer from old to new phone then will add number share service

I appreciate your posting @rick5042 @Hardlynormal for your information and knowledge.

          • @Ryoon: Great! So what does your My Optus app show what the plan is? Does it still state it as $69 plan or something different? Do you mind sharing a snip, hiding all of your personal information. Thanks 👍

            • @rick5042: Nothing is changed on the app. it shows $69 Gift card voice plan which I believe you have same, I'm expecting to see half of price in value in the upcoming payment, I will share with you in few weeks time.

              • +1

                @Ryoon: Awesome. Thanks 👍

              • @Ryoon: Did you call the optus rep? Or via chat? How did you manage to get the 50% off?

I just got a call from HN to oick up my device today so hoping to go today after work or tomorrow morning. But my optus plan has started since last week?

                • @Tokz666: I read post of rick5042 to had this in mind then I had optus chat online to ask. I escalated only couple of times and one of consultant had an approval from his manager to offer. It took approx 1-2 hours from start to complete. Hope this helps.

                  • @Ryoon: Thanks for the info mate!! Did they know u got the flip 6 plan? Or just the BYO plan?

                    • +1

@Tokz666: I explained to Optus but they don't seem to interested to know, but I repeated and asked if there's any issue.
I've been told, HN sold service of optus and Optus gave discount to you so no issue :)

Main thing is not cancelling the service I believe and I have saved conversation to ensure I'm safe.

  • did anyone here figure out how to claim Samsung Care+?
