afaik the claims about ibuprofen sodium dihydrate being absorbed faster are true (how they define "twice" is debatable).
Neurofen got in trouble for branding their product for different types of pain when it was the same stuff. They used to have a headache/period/back pain branded things they priced higher.
Its why you only see regular & zavance now, they were the only ones with an actual difference.
Yeah… They've created multiple "Neurofen whatever" to make sure everyone has a reason to buy nurofen.
Suggestion therapy often works.
That clearly works for the company. $$$
Going by this, you're not wrong, they got fined $6 million, but are still doing it.

Wow! Court found that there was NO evidence that Zavance was absorbed faster than standard Ibuprofen!
And yet there they are advertising as fast absorption after a 6million fine that maybe was not even paid.

"ordered to be removed from the shelves" ?
I still have trust in institutions such as the TGA to keep us safe. We managed to dodge the US OxyContin disaster.
We should thank the integrity of doctors in Australia. That's the only thing that prevented it happening here.
I got caught with bad maths on this recently.
Yes Rafen is WAY cheaper than Nurofen. But the supermarket ones are much cheaper again :
Rafen 50 for $5.50 is 11c each
Aldi/Major supermarkets : 6.2 to 6.5c each (almost half the price again)
based on the other supermarkets pricing - thanks to this post : below
BOGOF on 14/07/2024
Aldi $1.49 for 24
Coles/woolworth $1.55 for 24
Is this better than the neurofen liquid caps ?
It's just ibuprofen. Buy the cheapest
Aldi $1.49 for 24
or
Colesworth $1.55 for 24
yep, the cheap generic stuff has the exact same active ingredient.
"Techincally" absorbed up to 4 times faster than normal tablets, but hardly worth paying 4 times the price for like 15 minutes.
Study here: (Ibuprofen is already absorbed very quickly… coating it in sodium (salt) makes the body take it a little faster)

Just buy the generic stuff for less than $2 for 24 tabs folks. Don't fall for the marketing.
I am not a research chemist, but I thought the whole "absorbed up to 2X FASTER" has been previously discredited. I have not resarched the subject myself, so my comments are subjective.
