Have seen a few different models out on the market, they are all quite expensive and not sure how well they function.

      Just watch the YouTube reviews.

I’ve had a couple in my car over the last two years. Currently running the same resolution and software on a narrower screen in my car and it has been really good. At this price it’s a steal IMO. And yeah there are a couple of reviews out of this model. https://youtu.be/J35RMCK_u9I?si=bTI2WBZ79gw97ofr

      • Thanks, that's a good review plus installation video

Wouldn't Tesla be selling more cars, if they comes with a HUD pre installed ? Lol

    • +3

Must be a lot down to personal preference. Had my M3 for 4 years and I don’t miss having an instrument cluster.

      • +2

Of course you could get used to it eventually, if that the only car you drive and same time I may end up getting few speeding tickets lol

        • +2

I drive a Lancer (conventional dash) and a Model 3 (central screen) in about equal amounts; I have absolutely no issues with the different location of the speedo when switching between them.

However, I sometimes find myself reaching for a gear lever to put the Tesla in reverse, or reaching for a key to switch off the Tesla when I park in the garage. It's definitely different, but not in a bad way.

@klaw81: I drive lancer and a Merc, I have the same gear stick problem 🤣🤣

      • +2

M3 has a fully digital gauge as standard, no?

I think he meant Model 3

          • +6

@iSauce: lol the most wannabe abbreviation out there

        • Yep M3 is reserved for the real M3! Not some wannabe leccy Camry. Telsa drivers do not hate me, I own a Model 3 Performance as a daily chariot, but never call my appliance an M3. If you've driven an M3 or M4 Comp you'd know why.

    • Yes they would, and no they don't care. In fact, they just removed these indicator stalks to really show they don't care.

  • wheres the front camera?

    • +5

      In the front, m8

  • +1

    Lol

  • How is the front camera free if adding it causes the price to increase by $10?

would it affect the warranty if the 12v battery went flat?

When we first purchased the Model Y, adding an Instrument Cluster was high on my list of priorities. However, after a week of driving without it, I’ve found that I don’t miss it at all.

Contrary to what many people say about needing Google Maps to drive, I usually search for my destination on my phone and share it with the car. By the time I get in, the destination is already set and ready to go.

Regarding the speedometer issue, the software’s speed warning feature has been incredibly helpful. It alerts me until I adjust my speed to comply with the street sign limits.

Overall, the integrated features of the Model Y have made the need for an additional Instrument Cluster unnecessary for me.

Yeah I'm in the same boat, was initially eyeing these things off when I first got my Model 3 but after having it a while I'm not missing them. The only thing I miss is Waze's unparalleled speed camera and traffic data and a wider variety of audio options (though this is gradually being rectified)

      • This. I use mine for waze predominantly. Bit better now that we have speed cam alerts on native but not having that in 2023 was ridiculous IMO. I still find that waze notifications are much more rich (stopped car, object on road, pothole, construction, water on road, crash, etc. You can choose to do a 70:30 split with maps and speedo on screen or just full map if you prefer that.

Pretty sure the speed camera detection is built into the teslaOS, albeit it is under a subscription.

        • +1

You’re right but only came out via OTA a couple of months ago. Prior to that there was nothing.

  • What would a rough install cost be?

    • The front camera requires the frunk to come out and the cable to be passed through the firewall so it can be time consuming especially in Model 3. Depends who you ask but I’d ballpark somewhere between $300-$500 to be a fair install cost. If you are handy it’s not complex and there are a lot of videos to follow.

      • I have seen couple of video about installation and they seems pretty intrusive. Taking out dash or steering trim, side linings, rubber seals and lot more. I am concerned if they really fit back properly without prior experience and also effect on Tesla warranty.
        any thoughts?

        • +1

Everything is held together by clips and the rubber seals are friction fit. It all fits back properly and there’s no warranty impact as it’s plug and play. No splicing or any other modifications to parts or components.

      • Anyone you can recommend in Brisbane
I'm mostly keen for the front cameras the rest is a bonus. It's the thing I miss the most!!

  • Should have been standard on these cars, but had to cut cost to pay for Elon's $56b bonus pay package.

  • Is this considered road legal? For insurance reasons?

    • +1

Yes it’s road legal and is not a modification that would affect insurance

      • Cheers

  • How much does it cost to install if I were to pay for it through your company?

    • If you hop on the Tesla owners australia facebook group and ask there are installers in every state that will be happy to help you mate.
