    Free is free! Good deal!

Should I get this, or wait for the >100% cashback offer?

  • +1

I got this in previous cashrewards promo for NordVPN. Already withdrawed the cashback into my bank account ;-)

    • When did you purchase?

      • April 14

It's a basic plan, so better combine with adblocker extension such as Ublock origin in your browser to block ads, trackers, etc. (useful to watch YouTube no ads).

Putting NextDNS in NordVPN setting only have very small effect in blocking ads (maybe deliberate from NordVPN).

Make sure to turn off auto-renewal.

    • +8

      ^ This right here

I was going to cancel my auto-renewal leading up to the day. The bastards do renewals 14 friggin' days before expiry. Now I'm stuck.

      • I had the same thing happen to me, but was able to get a refund almost right away.
Go to the Nord help page and click the live chat button on the bottom right.
Ask for the refund there and it'll link you to your account page where you can request a refund on your latest subscription.

        • Their T&Cs said refunds would not apply to subscription renewals. When I attempted to refund mine they asked me if I wanted an additional 18 months free so I opted for that instead. Not ideal but did ease the burden a lot.

          • @Guybrush57: Just threaten them with Australian Consumer Law and ask for a refund if you want one. Worked for me. ChatGPT wrote the email.

  • +2

Only if there was an offer for Proton VPN. That seems like the only one that works at my school :/

    • How about Adguard VPN (free 3 GB/month) ? Can be combined with NextDNS. How many VPN have you tried? Name?

Note: NextDNS is not a VPN, but can open certain websites that are blocked by ISP ;-) Proof: check google sflix or sflixtv :P

      • Ooooh, that's definitely one to try. I'll try Adguard and will look into what NextDNS is. Thanks!

    • Hotspot shield works at my school

      • I remember using that a long long time ago and totally forgot about it. Thanks Burger!

      • Hotspot Shield is not good for your privacy and data. Even the free version has ads etc. I know this because I read a lot of news and I have above average knowledge about many things.

Better use Adguard VPN combined with NextDNS in Adguard VPN setting

Or try only use NextDNS app or put its specific dns in the setting. NextDNS is not a VPN but can open certain blocked websites like sflix for example ;-) NextDNS can block ads, trackers, malware from internet too (a lot of settings and filters).

        • I’m talking from previous experience using it on macos - it bypasses restrictions on NSW school internet. I didn’t seem to get ad’s.

Nordvpn doesn’t seem to work on NSW school internet, even with a few custom settings

          • @Quarter Pounder: Try Adguard VPN and NextDNS to bypass restrictions ;-)

            • @neoleo: will try this when the amaysim cashback sims run dry :)

              • @Quarter Pounder: Why not try with that Amaysim? Try to open sflix dot to
                Can you ? :P
If fail, it is blocked by your ISP (sim card operator or school Internet). NextDNS can open the website ;-) even though it is not a VPN.

Watch movies even the latest movies for free :P Amaysim (100% cashback) has huge amount of data …

            • @neoleo: It doesn't matter on the VPN provider but the config they use, if you configure the vpn correctly it will work fine.

              • @c8au: although not all VPN provider provide the right options that work to bypass firewalls.

    • +6

Well they are a privacy focused vpn like mullvad. They don't do these offers because they don't Collect data and they spend time on getting the best anonymity and security instead of the most amount of servers and changing IP constantly so sometimes Netflix and other streaming services work. They are kinda different things.

      • Hmmm, makes sense. I guess they have different objectives.

  • Damn just signed up to Nord a few days ago to do the India Spotify deal, and then cancelled Nord in the few few days for a full refund.

Guess I'll use a new email address for the new account

Am I correct that there is no limit for the cashback, IE I can get the Complete plan for $143.76 ?

    • Am I correct

      No

"Cashback ineligible on upsold products (see terms)."

      • Thanks but the terms refer to an upsold product as "Upsold products such as NordPass & NordLocker."

I'm just looking at the complete plan not an additional product :(

    • -3

as long as you understand that with nord, you're the product, yes

      • It's only the basic plan, no the Plus one?

        • Only basic plan for any VPN for cashback purpose, but after that later you can pay more to add additional plans/features

        • I confirm it is only basic plan
I got the Complete one and it only tracked about $154 out of $238
          Will cancel …

      • I'm curious about what you mean?

        • Nord is not your friend for privacy. If you just want to circumvent geo blocked pricing, it'll work mostly. It's not a privacy service. Your data will be shared if requested

    • Only basic plan for any VPN for cashback purpose, but after that later you can pay more to add additional plans/features (the VPN company will offer you later to buy more plans anyway).

Pro tip - you can easily make more Gmail aliases with +

      Eg
      [email protected]
      [email protected]
      [email protected]

All go to the main inbox and let you easily sign up as a 'new' user.

Is this for 1 year only? Or 2 years as well?

    • Trying to figure that out too

    • +3

Works for 2 years as well.
Chose Armenia for vat free charge, was charged AUD122.85.
Cashback of AUD116.43 tracked after an hour.

Effectively about about AUD6 for 2years of NordVPN. Not bad at all.

      • $95.75 is 141Aud. how are you getting $122aud ?

        • Im sharing what i got charged on my credit card.
          Dont recall the usd price.
Its whatever they quoted for 2 year basic service with no add-ons and no VAT.

          • @Phonkmaster55: It would have to be $141AU unless you used a coupon.. But then you wont get cashback if coupon was used.

            • @Ryxxi: I used my wise debit card, so maybe a better rate on FX conversion compared to yours

  • +5

Obligatory don't buy if you don't need, cashbacks can be refused

  • What's the deal? No prices / plans this is applicable to in the deal listing?

    • Yeah really vague, as with any cashback buy with caution…

  • +2

Well it didn't track for me, F

    • Takes a few hours, are you sure?

      • +1

Days even. If it doesn't track in 10 days you should contact and If they can't do anything get Nord to refund you and you will not have to pay anything. This deal will come back again any day now.

    • It tracked for me overnight! Bought one year basic using PayPal

  • +3

Remember to turn off autorenew… It let me do this in 6 months in advance last time (haven't tried yet this time)

    • +1

Got 2 yr basic and turned off auto renew immediately

      • Did yours get tracked? I also want to purchase the two year plan but not sure if it qualifies for this deal. Thanks,

        • +1

Yes tracked with 116 cashback.. effectively $19 for 2 yrs.. cant complain

    • Get a Wise card to use for these type of purchases.
Use the digital card to make a purchase, then change the card number right after purchase/ cashback tracked.
This way Nordvpn has outdated payment info that will fail when they try to renew your account

      • Good info. Thanks

  • When it says new customers only does it mean if I made a new account 1 month ago, it's fine as long as this is my first payment? Also for the 2 year deal is this what everyone else is getting: $95.76AUD (Christmas Island)?

    • I once had nord and cancelled a few months ago. Also wondering if I’m forever locked out of this deal

    • Prices are shown as USD on the Nord website. Confused me for a while as the payment kept going through at ~$158AUD

  • +5

Full payment amount was $135.14 for me and cashback tracked at $116.53.

    • +2

You only get cashback for the product, no add-ons, and no GST.

      • +5

Correct, I was aware of this before purchasing. I was just posting totals in case anyone was curious or not sure how it worked.

Under $20 for 1 years VPN access is a pretty good deal.

      • Crap forgot to change the GST.

    • NordVPN receipt :
      A$122.85/2 years
      GST 10% - A$12.29
      Total: A$135.15/2 years

Why 116.53, should be 122.85 . Is there some other tax other than gst?

      • conversion/exchange fees?

      • I paid with PayPal so might be related to that?

  • Do they charge in aud or do you need one od those bankwest/28 degrees credit card to avoid foreign exchange and conversion fees?

    • +1

Charge in USD. When I used my regular CC, I ended up paying a small foreign exchange fee.

  • +1

Having terrible performance with NordVPN… 16KB/s
    I'd look elsewhere

  • Hi Peeps

Just a question. I know it says new customers only. What if you are a returning customer?

For example, my subscription expired a month ago. If I join this would I get 100% back?

    Thanks in advance

    • +3

Just need to sign up with Nord using a different email than the one you used before.

      • Okay thank you. So for certain the same email wouldn’t work?

        • +2

          I wouldn't risk it

          • @HaydosK: Thank you

            • +1

@basud: If you use Gmail, then you sort of have infinite email addresses anyway.

Let's say your Gmail is basaud@gmail, then for Nord you could use basaud+nord@gmail, for the second sign up, basaud+nord2@gmail, 3rd sign up - basaud+nord3@gmail etc… These will all be sent to basaud@gmail.
Unfortunately the odd website here and there will not allow the "+" symbol on the email sign up. Nord do allow it, so this works fine.

              • @snuke: Did you actually use this method successfully with Nord? I've always wondered if some companies would have some algorithm to equate the new gmail to your previous one.

                • @mickeyk: Nord, haven't tried.
I did do this with SurfShark via Top Cash Back.

I did have both Nord and Surf for two years, never had a need for Nord as Surf always worked in more places.

      • Different email but same name would work?

  • +2

What are the in-favour VPN services at the moment?

I’m about to come off-plan with PIA after three years. That’s been pretty good, but I want to claim another cashback offer as a new customer.

    Is there another well-regarded one?

Is Nord good or a little questionable? I see deals pop up like this for other providers too - Surfshark etc.

  • +1

How do I skip the GST on this one?

    • +3

If you live in somewhere where you're not part of Australia for tax purposes such as the Christmas Islands.

  • Stupidly enough i need a VPN to function my cashrewards as I live outside of Australia now and my Nord has expired. Proton and Windscribe both don't have free VPN for Australia servers, can anyone help me out? (I'm looking for a free VPN which can connect to Australia servers to utilise this deal while living outside of Australia)

    • You could try a 'free' VPN like Hola. Although it's not really free.

    • +1

You can try TunnelBear. Pretty sure they have Australian server for free.

    • You can use Tunnelbear which gives you enough bandwidth per day to sign this up. I used the cash rewards app by clearing the app cache and storage, signed in while connected on Tunnelbear VPN on Android and it worked for me as I had an Aussie IP

I'm using a roaming esim which gave me a Hong Kong IP which didn't let me use cash rewards

  • +1

No Nigerian server - no deal 🤣

    • +1

They actually have a Nigerian virtual server :P

      • Ah, yes! Didn’t seen that update about virtual servers.

  • I got the basic 2 years plan with bonus esim for usd $81.36 no gst is this the correct amount?

    • Yes, bought the same not long ago and received tracking confirmation already.

    • Haven't seen anything on esim Saily thing

    • how is it $81.36 m? for me its $95.75. I can get it to $81.40 but its with a coupon.. but cb is not valid with coupons.. confusing as hell deal.

  • +2

I now live in Christmas Islands..

  • Has anyone else had theirs automatically cancelled by NordVPN and refunded even though you didn't request it? Supposedly on live chat I've been told my credit card didn't pass their fraud check.

  • +1

Just be careful I had mine track for 45 days then rejected after so I couldn’t cancel (past 30 days already) - just a word of caution I would highly recommend recording the transaction as evidence as looks like I’ll just have the wear the $120 cost

    • thanks!

    • Right so need that transaction email invoice plus the cash rewards status says tracked. Is that enough?

      • Sometimes not enough I would record the transaction with phone camera just in case

  • Can someone explain why Nord does this? I used to see them as pretty trustworthy based in Panama with a no logs policy, but the past few years it's endless ads on YouTube and 98%+ cashbacks. How can they really not be collecting anything and essentially giving the product away? These cashback deals have done nothing but make me sceptical and actually pushed me away from them
