Seiko 5 SRPD73P-9 $299, Black Presage SRPH95J $499, Prospex SNJ039P Arnie Tropical Lagoon Watch $399 Delivered @ Watch Depot

140

Watch Depot woke up this morning and decided to have a weekend sale for the first time in months, and it's surprisingly not complete garbage. And the prices are good! Trigger warning: all 3 in the title have hardlex crystals 🫠

Remember $20 off if you sign up to their thing.

Seiko 5 Sports SRPD73P-9 Automatic $279 for one of the least offensive 5s. You got the fake patina and milanese for that vintage vibe. Scratch up the bezel, case and crystal a bit and it''d legit look like vintage 70s Seiko from a meter or two away.

Seiko Presage SRPH95J Automatic I don't own any of the 60's Presage range but this is my favourite cw of the ones I've seen; it's clean, sharp and sporty. Not copping but if I was forced to pick one, I'd pick this one.

Seiko Prospex SNJ039P Tropical Lagoon Special Edition I own nearly all of the Arnie models becuase ana-digi makes my loins tingle. this one is nice because it has some colour. Not many stores have this model, or any Arnies in stock. Same with solar tunas. Will Seiko bring them back? Who knows? But if you want an Arnie for $380, I suggest you hop on this while the price is low and there's still stock,

Citizen Eco-Drive BL8164-57E Perpetual Calendar this one if easily the best value of the lot, and has the best specs. Not too big at 42mm, sapphire, perpetual cal, two-tone if that's your thing. All for $379. I have the brown dial version on leather and I think I paid more.

I already got this one for $500 recently because I wanted a grab and go pepsi dial watch, instead of setting the day and date on my SKX007, but look here's the shittty replacement for $279.

So props to the WD team for some actual deals. I hope to see more next weekend,

I have that Arnie model. I love it.

I changed it to a black strap though.

That Seiko sports is speaking to me… will this be my first watch depot purchase πŸ€”

I honestly think it's a very handsome watch, and it'd look good on you. And it's only $279, that's less than a carton of ciggies.

    • I don't think you'll be allowed, too many watch purchases already this year.

  • '$279 for one of the least offensive 5s' ..still offensive.

  • Tropical Lagoon is certainly an acquired taste

    Ordered the Arnie.

    Thanks OP.

    • That one will look good on you. Hopefully you didn't forget the $20 sign up credit.

My citizen ecodrive perpetual calendar watch had served me for more than 17 years and use it as my daily.

The two tone is a bit much but vouch that these are good watches

Pretty good prices, those Arnie's are getting harder to find for a decent price, gone are the $349 days in late 2023 when they were clearing them. Seems hard to find for under $400-500. I ended up getting the 025p for $425 this year with a $hiels voucher, couldn't do any better but a great keeper.

one of the least offensive 5s

I'm happy to give the whole range a miss - sure it's the entry level or affordable series, but there are too many variants slapped together in the same case.
(One exception is the Seiko 5 Field GMT. Different case, crown at 3'oc.. not even sure why it is called a Seiko 5).

I'm in two minds about the Citizen BL81xx models. Is it good that there are cheaper pseudo-PCATs that retain the most-useful specs - perpetual calendar, sapphire, eco-drive - or is annoying that they removed the full feature set - world time, radio signal reception, stopwatch?

Incidentally, they aren't listed in the sale but WD has the blue and brown variants for $397.

    • Yeah that style off dress-crono (and two tone) isn't my style but may suit some people. Just like i hate Seiko Couturas.

Radio recpception useless in AUS, not many people really need world time (but it's cool), likewise stopwatch and timer (easier on phone or my fitbit).
I'd just keep the full features for Casio G-Shocks etc.

      Citizen Yacht Timer $499
(although I never pulled the trigger at $449 recently)

      • (easier on phone or my fitbit).

        Wash your mouth out heathen

        • haha, don't worry.. plenty of time pieces to choose from.

the lil yachty is dope. It has been around for a while nowm and been on "sale" a lot of tmes. I think i'fd drop to $399

        • Yeah mate I'd COP for $400, great looking piece and although big it wears pretty well ;)
(I tried it on, the rubber drops down vertically)

I think the ones with sapphire and perpetual are great deals at ~$350 and are ususally smaller in size. I have a few and think they're great.

A titanium PCAT with everything + sensors and other shit are at least double the price, pushing $1K depending on the model. But most of them are 44mm+ and people complain about the "busy dials", I also have a few and I thnk they're great.

I have too many Ecos with functions I never use. My next Citizen purchase will most likely be another Series 8, and i've decided not to buy any nore auto citizens with 8XXX movements, you can get watches with cal. 9whatever for 6R money, and the miyota 9s are better than seiko 6Rs. Like the 9050 is very accurate for the orice. only thing 6R has over a Miyota 9 is pwer reserve, which I don't really care abiut

      • Yeah agreed, won't buy any more old Miyota movements, only really got the small seconds with the upgraded 8322 movement (& 60hr). I can't say I'm blown away by the accuracy of the 6R35 movement vs the 4R35 (proven affordable workhorse) and think you are mainly paying for the longer power reserve.

The 9000 series would be appreciated for a thinner case (until they put on a display case back and ruin it ha).
