    Blunt Sport Umbrella $149

How much for a Sharp one?

    • +6

      $229 for sharp ones.

  • got one, cheers

    • +32

We need to revoke your OzBargain membership.

    • nice one!

  • Are they all made in China?
I thiught Blunt oroducts are designed in NZ and made in China?

    • +1

      Yupz. China.

    • They used to be made in NZ, but sadly saw higher profits and lower quality and outsourced it

      • +1

2 factories I worked at over the years did that. 1st one just closed up literally over night with all the workers showing up the next day to locked gates and no job. Guess I won't be buying Blunt then.

        • You probably won’t find an umbrella made in Australia or New Zealand. These economies need to focus on higher value activities like engineering vs manufacture on consumer goods like umbrellas.

  • +1

What exactly is a sport umbrella?

    • Similar canopy dimensions to a typical golf umbrella?

      • +2

        yup … big big umbrella.

    • For sporty people.

      • -2

        the sportiest

    • +2

      Skydiving?!

      • +1

        we recommend against this.

    • +1

Do you not play footy or soccer with an umbrella?

      • only vollyball

  • +4

My Blunt XL Exec umbrella was great for a few years but then earlier this year refused to stay closed, so it's now garbage.

Given Davek has a lifetime warranty, are noticeably lighter, 50% discount on lost umbrellas and their equivalent folding umbrellas are shorter (more compact) when closed, it's a much better option functionally if you're in the market for a BIFL brolly. That said, the Blunt umbrellas look fantastic, and uniquely so thanks to their rounded, passer-by-eye-friendly spoke tips.

    • +2

Did you enquire about getting it repaired?

    • Get it fixed under warranty? Or even if out of warranty it can be fixed

      • How much does it cost for repairs?

        • +1

ask blunt. and coupon codes dont work on repairs.

      • +3

My 5YO Blunt blew the wire that held the 'ribs' to the 'shaft' - anyway - Blunt sent me a new wire for free and I repaired it myself (there are videos online). Pretty happy with with that…….

        • Mine's about the same age ie outside warranty. I haven't tossed it yet so maybe I'll contact them.

          • +1

@y2k: Don't toss, waste of money if you can service and repair for a reasonable amount, 5 years isn't that long.

    • +2

Blunt do out of warranty repairs. It is a hassle to send it out to them and wait for the repairs and there is a charge, but better than buying a new one if it's something that can be repaired.

      • +1

        and better for the planet.

  • +3

Are they the bulletproof ones from Kingsman..?

    • +9

      nah those ones are cheaper

      • lol

    • You can get bulletproof suits like John Wick. I'm sure they could make an umbrella from the fabric…

      • I think some company makes something like this for VIPs. They deploy from a briefcase if I remember correctly. Expensive and not available to the general public.

    • +1

We're not saying try that. Certainly paintball proof, look it up on youtube.

  • +7

How does this compare to the $15 Aldi golf umbrella? I think I’d prefer the cheaper one. $150 isn’t a bargain

    • -5

Don't be like Wt133. No one wants an Aldi umbrella.

      • +6

Exactly how does a $150 umbrella protect me better from rain compared to a $15 one

        • +2

It won't fail on a blustery day https://youtu.be/4LPGVjtmrg4

        • -2

you get 10x less rain on you with our umbrellas. :P

        • -1

How does your $15 umbrella protect me better than my 50c garbage bag with a stick.

          • -3

            @Simetime: be like @simetime, they're the best!

          • -2

@Simetime: @simetime…. because you won Rushfaster ozbargain today… you get a free umbrella! Please DM me your details and we'll sort that out for you.

            • @RushfasterAu: Wow thanks! Guess I’ll be upgrading from my garbage bag after all.

              • -5

@Simetime: Please make video comparing your garbage umbrella to our super amazing $150 umbrella.

              • @Simetime: Umbrella order is sorted for you. 😎

                • @RushfasterAu: Thanks so much. I received the order confirmation email. This was a very generous thing for you to do and I really appreciate it. Thank you!!

      • +2

Why the negs for rushfaster. Obviously the reply was just a casual dig in good humour.

        • ikr

        • +1

          Shill

        • They probably see it as spamming/shitposting for lulz

    • Don’t suppose you’ll be downvoting all branded or designer wear since you can buy a shirt cheaper at Rivers?

      • right?! but why stop at rivers… theres always vomit temu vomit.

        • Exactly. Such selective outrage. Blunt also create really sturdy products, so yes, there is a difference between this and Aldi.

  • +5

How about bunnings' umbrella for $12?
    137cm wide

Its really hard to justify $137 for an extra 9cm…

    • +6

some people would pay $137 for another 9cm.

      • +1

Yeah but definitely not on umbrellas

        • +1

          Kinda what i was implying.

      • +1

Please don't tell my wife this is an option 🙏

        • . >_<

  • +4

Bunnings have the best umbrella rn $12, can fit 3 people under it. Idk which continent yall live in but this is plenty. Who even needs an umbrella for $149 genuinely like what does it do that my $12 umbrella doesn't. No bargain to be seen here at all. I'll let you know if my Bunnings umbrella breaks, so far has lasted 4 years and counting..

  • Fancy umbrella

    • only the best for some people.

  • +3

Got it from Black Friday sales, we used it like 3 times, usually it's too big to take around everywhere but the shoulder strap makes it easier to carry but then it makes it look like you've got a sword or something (looks cool for 5 minutes but people think you're weird)

Also pretty worried I'll leave and forget it someday much more comfortable with carrying a lighter umbrella and leaving a cheaper umbrella somewhere.

  • +2

3 pack of Woodworm 60" golf umbrella is peak OzBargain, wind tunnel or no.

    • Mine are still good as is the three pack of folding umbrellas from the same time.

  • +1

Seems a lot of $ for an umbrella!

Pretty sure I can get a good one for half that price.

You do you, but I don't see a deal here…

    • -1

      Should have gone to specsavers

  • Why does everyone love this? It's like the OZB of umbrellas

    • -2

      IYKYK KWIM?

  • Any deals on the metro rep?

    • +1

Go with Catch for navy or black $83.30 Rushfaster is doing the same price but only in black

      • We will match catch so you don’t need to buy from them.

        • +1

          But catch has free shipping

          • -1

            @DrScavenger: There’s always a catch

            • @RushfasterAu: Can you offer free shipping so we don't have to purchase from catch?

              • @stickymoo: No. Because catch is $8.95 shipping. Spend $99 on rush and you have free shipping. You got this.

                • @RushfasterAu: It is a OnePass item, OnePass members get free delivery.

OnePass is $4 for a month. Which is cheaper than your:

                  Standard: $9.95
                  Priority: $11.95
                  Express: $15.95

                  • @stickymoo: If you paid us $4 a month for 12 months ($48) I'd give you free shipping too. :P

                    • @RushfasterAu: Cancel any time, in this instance it is only 1x$4 ($4).

With the added perk of free shipping for a month if needed.

        • @RushfasterAu, Your Blunt Metro Compact Umbrella Navy is coming up as $109.95

          • @stickymoo: Fixed. Though please note at this price, when we sell one, we do not make any profit. Profit allows companies to exist and people to be employed.

  • Why is there a difference in weight between the metro (385g) and the metro special editions (415g)?

    • -2

      30g of special edition 😎

  • +1

I have a blunt metro, which has seen very little use, yet have had to send it back for repairs twice. Do not recommend blunt umbrellas - quality does not match the high price.

    • +1

'Tis a shame; I've had a Blunt Metro for about 6 years, used on average about 3 to 4 times a week during winter, still going strong with no need for repairs.
