  • The 60" seems to be also an Akai.

The front page shows it's a Bauhn, like the last 60" I bought from them like 7 years ago for $100 more. Still going strong using it an hour or two at night while cooking/eating.

      • Yes, that is right. It's just that the illegible logo of the 60" looks like the illegible logo of the 40" that is an Akai. Maybe the logos are illegible for a reason.

Akai any good? Anyone had them before?

    • I'd like to say yes, but all I remember from them is they're like the lowest of the low quality. Akai was being sold by the Reject Shop over a decade ago, bits like in-line earphones, cheap speakers. They could have up's their game but most likely just floating around in the nether as I haven't heard of them since..

The original Akai company died back in 2000. Now just their name on cheap junk.

^ Yeah, this sounds about right.

      All the same OEM TV.
Akai, Polaroid, JVC, Blaupunkt, Aiwa…etc.. same!

Akai, Sharp, Onix, Braun, Linsar all imported / ordered / supported by Tempo. https://tempo.org/brand-management/

          Do love the 1yr warranty.
They will honor 3years.. but nothing stops them putting 1yr on the box.

As per my previous posts. Key is to turn the backlight down on all these. They are normally set to max. Uses more power than needed and will die prematurely. My OEM is 12 yrs old…good as new.

  • I got a 55” 2 years ago, still going strong but it turns on sporadically in the throughout the day.
Ohh I also have to reset the tv every month or so as it won’t show the connected inputs, not even the free to air channels.
Anyone else have this issue with also tvs?
