Citizen Promaster Mini Eco-Drive EO2028-06L $275 Delivered @ Watson's Jewellers

120

This watch is the same price at several places (see below) but I figured I'd give Watson's a plug this time around (sign up to their newsletter for a 5% discount code on your first purchase). I was just in there about a 1/2hr ago and saw it in the metal, it's fantastic if you want a smaller watch. I bought the EO2022-02A for Mrs. C and she absolutely loves it. While the dial is really nice I'm not totally in love with the colour of the strap, but it should be easy enough to swap for another 18mm.

  • Nice find. Pretty cute watches.

    • They are great watches. As you alluded to the 37mm is very small so get the 44mm version.

Don't let the size scare you they are relatively thin, light and sit flat on the wrist (without the silly recessed case back like the autos have, trying to hide the thickness).

37mm is a great size for a watch on just about any wrist IMO, but yeah these do look especially small because of the diver style bezel, so I'd say these are for small wrists only.

If someone is after a small diver though and is ok with regular quartz rather than solar eco-drive, the mini duro seems like great value too https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/404932462381?epid=25065036555&it…

        • Yeah not against it, and iirc citizen still call it a ladies watch. Keep in mind divers are meant to be big (and legible) so better off getting the normal one.

          • @G-rig: yeah. for my 7in wrist I find 40mm - 44mm divers look best

          • @G-rig: I used to think the same thing but after owning the back bay 54 and SKX013 I actually prefer a smaller size for daily wear . Yes it’s a divers watch but honestly how often do most people go diving professionally?

Remember 36mm were worn by big men back before this trend of big watches.

I have a 6.75 inch wrist and find this size sits nicely on my wrist .

Also need to take into consideration the lug to lug width as that will affect the overall feel of the size for the watch

            • @SpeedRunnerLink: Yeah those are dressy divers so 39-40mm look fine and also are my ideal size.

I think it was mostly the dress watches that were small (no big bezel) although I got a vintage inspired Timex 38mm, it's a thin watch though (Q Timex).

Agree, lug to lug and case design is the most important thing.

37mm, if you are an average sized male is very feminine

          • +1

@Tomcruise: not at all, as long as it's the right style of watch

something like a dress watch where the dial takes up most of the case's real estate actually looks better around 37mm than 40mm+ on an average size male

            @Tomcruise: Username checks out..

        • Yeah, the first time I saw these in a shop, admittedly next to the full size versions, I thought it really did look like a woman's watch. There was just something… off about the proportions.

And don't get me wrong, I don't mind a smaller watch and am currently rocking a 36mm for most day to day wear, but I'm still looking at the full sized version of these.

I do like this colourway though, pity they don't do that on the bigger one.

Agree about the larger model not being imposing. I have the BN0163-00H and it doesn’t feel big on my wrist at all. The 37mm allows you to have all the looks and functionality but in a slightly smaller package. I think Citizen have nailed the design on this range in both sizes.

      • I think it is great that Citizen offers these not only in the smaller 37mm size, but not (all) in typical "girlie" colours.

The blue dial/blue strap variant looks good regardless of the gender target - I'd seriously consider it if was in the regular 44mm size.

          Their words not mine, ha.
          Yeah, I like that colourway.

  • I must admit after seeing this one in person, the dimensions of the dial being almost similar to the lug width, makes it look a bit lopsided.
