Note: if you intend to get the DLC (Shadow of The Erd Tree) for this game too, you may want to consider getting the version with the DLC and the game for $99 instead, because the DLC alone is about $60, so the extra $40 for the DLC and the game may be the better option in the long run.

Also, it's currently 30% off on PC/Steam at $62.96 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/853654

Pay the extra $40 upfront and get the dlc bundle off Amazon etc… And watch your life be consumed by this game tarnished..

Worth noting that the Erdtree tree edition comes with a code. The DLC isn’t on the disc so to speak.

Better value at $99 than buying this separately.

      • Agreed, I’d rather just buy an old used copy of the game and then buy the DLC after.

    • That's the way I'd do it, if I had enough time to put into the game, which it deserves.

But, new players, don't need to worry that they'll be missing out on content from the start.

The DLC is an "extension" to the game, which afaik you can't access until you're you're long into the game, so people can start with the base game and get the DLC once they reach that far (although I wouldn't expect a discount on the DLC anytime soon so, if the budget allows it, getting the game and DLC together is probably the cheaper option in the long run).

Lies. I got killed by the guy on the horse and gave up.

Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed with the Elden Ring DLC. Messmer and the final boss have no connection at all.

      • Can you kill final boss before Messmer?

        • No you cant. No idea why he is saying theres no connection

          • -1

@Darkvolcos: I mean in terms of the storyline.

            • +1

@NVidia Sucks: Tons of information showing their connections. Hint: Messmer’s loot, kindling itself already revealed their connections in the item description, but the information won’t mean anything until you face the final boss.

Is Elden Ring your first soulborne game? If you expected an explicit storyline, this is not one. Soulborne games always have fragmented story pieces embedded everywhere and you need pull them together to create the storyline yourself. Your storyline may differ to others since how much info gathered. It’s the beauty of soulborne games.

@NVidia Sucks: Aussie already did the leg work so i wont repeat everything he said, but I will say that you clearly didnt pay enough attention if you dont understand the reason why you need to beat Messmer before you can fight the final boss.

  • ATL for a physical copy?

    • I think it has been $59 on amazon before.

If this is your first time playing, by the time you meet the requirements to get to the DLC area, the DLC may have gone on sale.

    • Lol, that's what I was thinking too, even though the DLC has just been released and probably won't be going on sale anytime soon.

    • if you mean you'll take over 12 months to finish the game then yeah sure, it aint going on sale this year.

      • You don't need to finish the game to unlock the DLC. Also, if you get to the end boss you haven't necessarily unlocked the DLC as you still need to defeat a very difficult optional boss.

        • still doesnt take 12 months

          • @Freestyle: Here are several reasons why it may take someone 12 months (or even longer):

            1) you're older than 12
            2) you're a full-time student
            3) you have a job
            4) you have a life
            5) you have a girlfriend
            6) you are married
            7) you have children
            8) you play other games too
            9) you get the game but don't start playing it for months.
            10) you play from time to time (for reasons 1-7, or for other reasons, or for no reason at all).

In any event, the DLC was released very recently to good reviews/ratings, and I don't expect it to go on sale anytime soon (at least not a substantial one) not in the next 12 months anyway.

            • @BooYa: yeah no way you can game unless you are single jobless and alone, how is it even possible?

Need to spend more time at the pub getting drunk and wasting your life obviously

              • -1

@Freestyle: Lol, not at all - you said that it doesn't take 12 months (as if it was a universal truth, or as if you know how much time other people will spend on this game).

I gave you some reasons why it may take people longer than 12 months to unlock the DLC.

P.S. If you'd have said that it doesn't take most people 12 months, that'd be a different story (although even then, how would anyone know for sure).

Besides, it was meant as a tongue-in-cheek reply, I guess you didn't see the humour in it.

                • -1

@BooYa: you think those are the people choosing gaming as their primary hobby and lookong for deals online?

What I was saying to the above post is buying base game im the hopes DLC goes on sale while you play it is dumb and is not realistic for most people

                  • -1

                    @Freestyle: Wrong again.

In my post, I recommended getting the DLC and the base game, if possible:

"Note: if you intend to get the DLC (Shadow of The Erd Tree) for this game too, you may want to consider getting the version with the DLC and the game for $99 instead, because the DLC alone is about $60, so the extra $40 for the DLC and the game may be the better option in the long run."

and I repeated that suggestion in one of my comments above:

"I wouldn't expect a discount on the DLC anytime soon so, if the budget allows it, getting the game and DLC together is probably the cheaper option in the long run"

I gave people options, I didn't tell them that buying one version or the other is "dumb" (like you did).

How people want to play, and what they want to buy, is up to them.

Although, I get the impression that you think you know better.

  • This was the average sale price almost a year and a half ago. Wow.

    • Their previous game(s) also rarely go on sale, and that was even longer ago.

It speaks to the timeless quality of the games, and the continuing demand from new players who discover them as they grow up.

      • That’s crazy. I’ll try and sell my copy and try and make back most of it!

Coming soon to gamepass, like all the other souls like games

  • I always refer to this game as Alvin Ring. Because that's the only way this game puts a smile on my face.
