  • $243.93AU, now how do I avoid currency conversion fees?

it might be a good Christmas toy.

      28 degree card?

      • I haven't got one yet.. and doubt i will have it before it is all gone. i guess that is the only option..

        • +3

u have been here ozbargain for 1.5 yrs. u still have not got a 28degrees card?

        • hahah yeah…. that has been on the "To Do" list for too long…

BankWest platinum MasterCard also has no fees

  • hm.. any 35mm 1.4?

where did you find the black friday deals list?

    thanks

Next cheapest I found on ebay is

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Rokinon-8mm-f-3-5-HD-Fisheye-Lens…

    $290 USD

    • just missed. amazon sold 35/1.4 earlier this week. but after i did some research, the deal expired. 35/1.4 is more useful to most people than a fisheye toy .

  • I recently got the updated version of this lens with AE chip. Fantastic pics and a high quality bit of glass for such little $$$. Highly recommended.

    • is this for nikon or canon? I can't find a canon one that mentions the AE chip

  • +2

Nikon now showing $214 as well I believe.

  • Review, looks good - this is DX lens. If you use it on FX, the pic will be framed and heavily bend/curved

  • I already have a tokin 11-16mm/f2.8,

    on a aps-c , its 16.5-24mm

this lens is 8mm which is 12mm on a nikon aps-c..

would it be worthwhile to get it for the 4.5mm that i don't already have or its not really worth the effort?

    • i have the tokina 11-16 too. it is a good lens (not great).

this Korean lens is a fish eye. so it is not really in the same category as a ultra wide lens.

  • would the 4/3 works on the m4/3?

    • No, you need a adapter for it… I think you can either get the Nikon or Canon mount, a Nikon/Canon to M4/3 adapter is easy to find on eBay.

      • thanks… that was probably wishful thinking haha

    • Yeah I don't think it does, this is the m4/3 one:

      http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/822810-REG/Rokinon_FE7…

      Which isn't on sale.

EDIT, also this 7.5mm has not AF :( I don't think there's much choices for fish eyes on m4/3, there's this one and the panasonic, which cost like $600 bucks

  • How does this compare to the Pentax Q fisheye? That thing only costs half of this lens… However, the Rokinon can be used on both the Pentax Q and M4/3 via a adapter tho, this is a big plus…

    • +1

Having a 50mm fisheye defeats the purpose of a fisheye IMHO

chipped lens for nikon, shipped for 237.48USD from amazon.com

    • To me that chip does not sound that useful. I mean, it does not actually do the autofocusing, it just enables your camera to blink a light and make a beep when it thinks it is in focus. Based on the description, I am not sure whether it will enable aperture control from the camera, but I doubt that. It's more likely a function that will tell your camera which aperture you have chosen on the lens. Again, not that useful except if you want to get the correct aperture information stored in you EXIF data.

      • It's useful if you're using a Nikon camera that does not allow you to enter in custom CPU info.

        That means, the Nikon D3xxxx, D5xxxx, D90, D70, D50, D40 etc won't meter in A or S modes. However, if you're using the D7000, or any semi-pro (D1xx, D2xx, D3xx, D6xx, D7xx) or pro body (D1, D2, D3, D4 etc) you'll be fine by just adding the CPU info.

So yes, it is useful. And you're right, there is no autofocusing.

And the lens is actually manufactured by a South Korean company called Samyang and is resold as Rokinon, Bower among several others.

Lots of photos in this flickr group - http://www.flickr.com/groups/fish-eye/

    • So inclusive of delivery, this Amazon deal is cheaper than the B&H deal.

      Edit: Here's some reviews -

      * http://www.thephoblographer.com/2012/01/18/review-rokinon-8m…

Also note, this only works on cameras with a cropped sensor (APS-C).

  • Good deal. Unfortunately, I do not need such a lens.

  • This is actually a pretty decent quality lens. And at this price, it's an absolute bargain for a lens type you might use once in a while for a special shot. Too bad m43 mount not on sale. Otherwise, would buy already.
