JBL Powered Speaker PRX-612M $710.40 @ JB Hi-Fi

40

A little too expensive perhaps to qualify as a "bargain", however this is a very good price for a very good powered speaker for anyone who's looking to build up their PA.

Not appropriate for home theatre. These are for DJs and bands.

I've added a whole heap of features below, just take my word that this is one of the best powered speakers on the market, and for the cash (until Sunday), is easily the best choice if you need a PA for whatever purpose you wish.

Features:

Maximum SPL 134db peak

Dual purpose enclosure for both front-of house and floor monitor applications

Eight M10 fly points for horizontal or vertical suspension. One M10 pull-back point

Optimized EQ for monitor or front-of-house applications

305mm (12 in) Differential Drive® dual voice-coil and magnetic gap, neodymium woofer

37.5mm (1.5 in) annular polymer diaphragm, neodymium, compression driver

1000 Watt (Dual 500 watt) Class-D, Crown® amplifier

DSP input section, crossover, dynamic limiting, component optimization, selectable system EQ

Professional XLR line and ¼" Mic/Instrument inputs, with loop through

Dual-angle pole mount socket

    • Alrighty mate, I'll add some features haha. Not expecting to get many plusses on this one due to the niche market it appeals to.

      • sorry wasn't aimed at you, copied straight from jbhifi's website haha

  • +4

Thought this was a PC case

  • Can this one be used with the Pioneer amp in the other deal as a home theatre set up or it's more like a disco/concert/hobo busker's speaker?

    • More a disco/concert speaker. I'm a muso so it appeals to live sound guys more.

  • Definitely for musos and dj's only, good for parties too but that's about it. They won't have the low end rumble you'd want in a hi fi.
A band I play with have these, and they are clear and powerful, wouldn't mind some for myself!

  • im a DJ and am looking to upgrade from a pair of behringer b115d's to either the the 15 inch version of these or eon 515xt's
    any opinions appreciated

    • These destroy the Eons. I'd also consider the Elx 115p if you must need 15 inch tops. It's a better choice to go with 12s and a sub or two however.

      • i do like 12's but i need 15's for the bass as i only take a sub to bigger gigs, these are only speakers for house partys so i am only worried about 'loudness' really and not sound quality. PRX-612M still worth the extra $400 a pair over the eon 515xt's?

EDIT: also the ELX115P seem to be the heavier of the 3 which is also a factor for me

        • Are you talking about a pair of Eon 515xt's or just 1?
the Eon 515xt is only $799 delivered from www.storedj.com but if your talking about a pair where did you find it for that price? Quick google search showed them at $700 + Delivery at penrith

I recently went there to buy an cheap audio system for home use since they were having specials and were far cheaper than competitors for some of the gear

the Eons are only 625W so a pair of them might only be a bit louder than the 612 which is 1000W
          -EDIT there's only a +2dB difference between the 612 to the 515xt

        • At the end of the day, you can only draw limited conclusions by looking at speakers on paper. If there is a shop that has both models it would be really worth dropping in and do an A/B comparison. I've heard the EON's by themselves and they do sound good without a sub, but I've only heard the PRX's with the matching 18's underneath.
          Good luck in your quest!

        • I agree with the above, that you have to listen to them. But if loudness is your priority over quality, I'm sure your money would be spent better elsewhere than name brands.
