3% ITF kills it. This is my daily driver but not worth it any more.

    • I use Revolute for Foreign Transactions

      • -1

I want to use one card without thinking and this was going to be my forever card. Likely switching to bendigo ready credit or 28degrees. Free travel insurance, purchase protection, no AF. Churn other cards for points

      • But I'd rather put down someone else's money for hotel & car rental holds, and also use it for up to 55 days interest free.

Thanks for the reminder that I need to cancel this card though.

        • You wouldn’t pay the fee if it’s just a hold

          • @askbargain: IME most car rental companies charge the same card as the hold unless you waste another 15min at drop off changing the billing card, and most hotels will also for ancillaries (parking, etc.) so it's just easier to put it on another card with no ITF fee.

            • @ol mate: Took 12mins to swap out the anz for 28D in Milan. Lucky a second person in the office knew how to do it as well! ANZ Hold stayed on for an additional 2 weeks. ($1600)

Same here. I spent over $100k on this card last year and they didn't even offer to waive the annual fee when I went to cancel. Oh well.

Also don't ask but $100,000 was not a normal year for me, I had some very large purchases in foreign currency.

    • Agree. I want to replace this one with a better one now.

  • +1

99 dollar fee is killing it

    • I'd argue $99 is fairly cheap because spending $10,000 over the YEAR would give you $100 Flybuys dollars. Most families would easily cross this. The bonus of 80K points is already $400 flybuys dollars

      • +1

Most families would easily cross this

Not if they shop at Woolies…

        • +1

with 10 % off every month

          • @HolyCr4p: $50 max per month, so you could get :

$600 back off $6,000 spend at Woolies.
$100 back off $10,000 spend at Coles + $99 fee

            • +1

@jv: Shut up and dont take my money

            • @jv:

$100 back off $10,000 spend at Coles + $99 fee

Wrong It's a $10,000 spend anywhere (except some like govt or bpay), not just at Coles. Also you're ignoring the $400 in bonus, which means the card is essentially free for the first 4 years.

              • @soan papdi: $600 back off $6,000 spend at Woolies.

                • @jv: I don't have the option of 10% off (mobile, insurance, etc) and neither do I spend $500/mo on groceries alone. I do however spend at least $4000 a month (on average) on my ColesMC and make plenty back each year. Great that woolies works better for you.

                  • @soan papdi: I also get $600 back off $6,000 spend at Coles with Coles Plus Saver

So that is $1200 back per year in total…

Compared to $100 back with Coles Rewards Mastercard

                    • @jv: To get $600 back from Coles Plus Saver you need to spend $500 in one go every month for 12 months. $500 x 10%=$50 x 12=$600
                      Or am I missing something?

                      • @Mad Max: yes, you get $600 off a $6000 spend for the year.

              • +1

@soan papdi: Can't see the value in the card, let alone attributing it to be worth eroding the $400 bonus by keeping it for 4 years. Good for a churn I think.

  • Normally 50,000 Flybuys bonus points.(coles.com.au)

NAB is making this worse too. Last year's bonus offer was 60K (first year) and 40K (second year)

  • I got this card when it was 120,000 points. I’m forced to keep it because it’s still linked to YT premium in India, and the card can’t be changed without cancelling the membership.

    • Do you need to VPN to India to watch youtube content or just for signup?

      • +1

        Just for sign up

    • You can just cancel the card, let the membership expire due to failed payment, then add a new card that works (ING Visa Debit in my case).

Just went through it the other week

      • Was this with India? because there are new restrictions with foreign payment methods.

        • Sorry, it was India aaaaages ago.

I just checked and I switched to turkey about 3 years ago, and Pakistan at the end of May.

Same card for all. With Pakistan, its ~$4.90 for family.

  • +2

They removed the foreign currency transaction exemption and hit you with 3% now.
They even reduced the 2 points per $ to just 1 point per $ after spend of $3000 every month.

Also, the only way to pay the card is to Bpay and this can take several days to appear on your account which is very inconvenient if you need to top the card up during the month.

I have paid via Bpay on a Friday and had it land on the card on Tuesday.

    No PayID option.

  • $99 Annual Fee

    No thanks…

The 3% ITF is a huge downer for this card now, has been free up until end of June this year. Don't think there are any point earning credit cards with free ITF now?

    • +1

Ironically, NAB added it to their own card around the same time they removed it from the Coles (white-label former Citi) card.

      Edit; used correct link.

      • Monthly fee of $24 unless you spend $5000 a month.. crazy
Spewing, as the Coles $99 annual fee I was able to have refunded most annual rollovers to retain my business

  • I have a coles mastercard and they are TERRIBLE to deal with and completely unreasonable. Check out the reviews, not so good!

    • Genuine question but how many times have you given good reviews online to credit card companies?

I bet you haven’t given that many 😂

      • Fair points but people do give reviews and their score is particularly bad.

How many times has a credit card company offered you a settlement? I bet not many.

  • +1

NAB killed all the good products from Citi, so I canceled all of my Citi cards and accounts for this reason.

    • -1

so I canceled all of my Citi cards and accounts for this reason.

and since you did that, NAB have really been hurting…

  • I see a lot of hate for this card but really whta is better these days considering I am kind of running out of cards to churn…?
