Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ WiFi 64GB $209 Delivered (Square Account Required) @ Square AU (Price Beat $198.55 @ Officeworks)

640

The description of this product is all over the place. The dimensions and screen size indicate a Galaxy Tab A8. Must be a price error right?

So I went and contacted the rep and they “assured” me it was definitely the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+. Lowest price ever? 🤷‍♂️

You’ll need a square account to purchase, not sure if that requires abn, or just filling in your details. :)
Plus you can always beat at Officeworks, but I rekon this price will raise eyebrows.

    Great tablet.
    4gb/64gb.
SD695. Same chip as the Motorola G84.

  • hmm is this australia shop, why domain is not .au

  • +4

Note: the product image used is for a Samsung Galaxy Tab A8.

  • +14

4G RAM is very limited based on experience of A8 4G RAM. Will definitely recommend paying extra for 8G RAM model. Will see huge improvement based on experience too.

    • How much extra compared to this deal though?

  • +1

here we go again.. do i need it do i want it does my wallet allows it and why my fingers are clicking add to cart

  • +2

Tempting, but do I reaaallly need another tablet?

  • +1

Looking for a mostly web-browsing machine (no games) + streaming video. Have been eyeing off the Lenovo M series (M10 or M11)

Any opinions? 4GB seems like enough, but not sure if it's worth pushing for something with 8GB.

    • +11

Well. The Lenovo M11 LTE tablet is $278 (a price difference of ~$79 dollars) you get

Mediatek MT6769H Helio G88 vs Snapdragon 695 (The Snapdragon is better)
      128GB ROM vs 64GB
      8GB RAM vs 4GB
      Stylus vs no Stylus
LTE 4G connectivity vs Wifi Only

      • Thanks. Most people will get some extra years from the Lenovo.

        • +5

Most people won't get extra years of Android upgrade with Lenovo, though.

          • +1

@kovojk: True, Samsung is a much better bet on the software side.

        Wifi only for $229.
        4gb/128gb
        G88
        With Pen

      • Not a lot of stock around but I grabbed the Lenovo M11 LTE 4/128 (non LTE) with pen plus a folio case from Big W. With code XJUL2024, and 5% off gift card, I paid $234.23. Without the case would have been $212.90

    • +2

From my experience with the Samsung A9+ and the Lenovo m11, the Samsung feels “higher quality” and will also probably get more software updates, but they both very much respond the same.

    • The device will use about 3gb for the OS with 1gb free. For light use it will be ok, especially if you are aggressive with closing background apps - the Samsung OS 'deep sleep' settings do this quite well

Personally I would want at least 6gb in a tablet

    • Im pretty happy with the Blackview tab 11 that I got for around $150 last year. Takes sim too so it was good when Boost had profit sims. Downside is that it doesn't fast charge, which from the comments below this doesn't either.

  • +8

Previous lows looks like it's been around $236 so definitely not an impulse buy.

  • While creating an account, do I need to provide ABN and other business details?

    • -2

      Yes

    • No you dont need an ABN.

  • +1

Lenovo m1 is so crappy slow

Anyone actually achieved an office works price beat?

I want to buy it, but maybe I should save my money for a steam deck lol

    • +1

I would love to see a pricebeat because last time I tried with Officeworks they need the site to display the model to confirm its an Australian model.

      • +2

I second you, had same experience. Plus they told me its a member only price and they dont pricebeat that.

        • And the model posted is 10.5”, but the one in officework is 11”

      • The model number is on the page, just hidden. View page source from desktop browser, it shows the SKU as SM-X210NZAAXSA.

        • Thanks, found it. hidden inside a script tag.

    • got a price match

  • Bargain compared to what JB Hi-Fi have it for @ $299.

    • +2

Online chat won't let me price match as well they say it's a different product since it's advertised at 10.5" and not 11". Like what the

Great deal - I recently bought an iPad for the kids and very disappointed in iOs on the pad - I wanted a unit where each kid can log into their own workspace easily, not possible on Apple. I'm getting this and tossing (selling) the ipad.

    • Keep in mind this will struggle with having both logged in at the same time

      • +1

Don't need to be logged in simultaneously - they both use reading eggs and Math Seeds at school and it is a pain having to log each one in on the iPad, on the Galaxy they can have an individual RE/MS login on their own workspace.

    • Google Pixel tablet is perfect for that use case, and also doubles as a smart display and is always charged and ready to go.

      • +1

Yeah, but $207 vs over $700

        • iPad for $207? Should have posted as a deal.

          • @elektron: Nah, this one at $207 oops $209

            • @singlemalt72: Got it, but you were talking about the iPad. The Pixel tablet is a much more useful device for multi-user at-home use.

              • @elektron: Talking about getting rid of the ipad because I want the versatility of an android device

                • @singlemalt72: I really like my Google Pixel Tablet, fwiw. It's even useful when it's not in use. Built-in Chromecast too.
Got it at a great price too earlier this year. But the multiuser fingerprint functionality kills the iPad for me. Apple wants you to buy one for every family member.

I have the A9+ with 5G and I have zero complaint so far other than there is no official keyboard (cover) for the tablet. However, mine is equipped with 8 GB of RAM and this one is 4GB, so experience could be different.

  • I literally just got the 128GB model, and boy it takes a LONG time to charge. From 15% to 100% takes 3.5 hours with a 15W charger, which I think is the max W it will take? Even the included cable is rated as Max 3A.

Most people leave it to charge overnight because of this, so be aware.

    • Hmm 15W max… that means they're probably only supporting 5V with 15W being only 5V x 3A. I hate this style of cost cutting, its probably saving them less than $1 in cost compared to 22.5W/27W PD (9V * 2.5A/3A) support which I'd argue should probably be the bare minimum support provided by a modern budget tier tablet because at least the 18W (9V * 2A) fallback still mitigates the 5V droop issues with cable quality/thickness and cable length and also mitigates issues with many chargers supporting lower than 3A max current. ie. Lots of chargers support 18W (as 9V x 2A) or 22.5W (as 9V x 2.5A) either as their maximum best case output or as their reduced maximum output in the case of multi-port charges when ports are simultaneously in use, and in many of these cases the 5V support would only be 10W (5V x 2A) or 12.5W (5V x 2.5A) which is low enough that you'd struggle to even increase in battery charge level if you were trying to use the tablet while it was charging.

That said, this is probably not even about cost cutting, rather about deliberately cutting features from the low tier tablets in order to increase product differentiation for mid tier tablets.

      • I mean, maybe they just supply a lower wattages charger but you can use a higher wattage one? Was common with phones to give you the bare minimum but leave you the "fast charge" option as an upsell (i.e. pixels did this)

        • They don't supply a charger. Just tablet, charging cable, sim pin and quick start guide

          • @sh4hp: Oh right, how disappointing. Also, it seems that you're right and 15w is the max, though others are reporting that charging takes 2 hours… 3.5 seems a bit much if the battery life is about 7 - 8 hours (depending on use of course)

            • @Droz: Yeah the battery is 25Whrs and charging at 15W with modest inefficiency should result in 2hr - 2.5hrs charge. There isn't going to be a significant time-extension for the final top-off charge when you're only charging at 15W max in the first place. 2hrs would require that the tablet is off during charge, and 2.5hrs would require that the screen is off and prob still require that there is no power hungry apps/tasks running in the background whether known or unknown to you, which will happen sometimes and may be an app/task/power-state that's bugged out. My guess is 3.5hrs charge primarily is coming from the charger doing less than 3A, there will be some voltage droop too but unless its a long cable it prob won't be the primary issue.

              • @Joku: Not sure where it all went wrong, but it was definitely 3.5 hours for me from 15% to 100%. Used both a samsung 15W charger, and a laptop 100W charger, and they both reported the same time.

If you turned on battery optimiser though, which limits charge to 85% max, then it changes to 2-ish hours. So it might just be the final 15% thats extremely slow charging.

    • My kids' 9th gen ipads take forever to charge as well, as does the ipad I have to use at work.

  • Hmmm, been looking for a cheap tablet to use for Reading Eggs.

  • +1

It doesn't come with the S-pen and 4gb is not enough with this one for writing.

  • I bought it. Lets find out.
A9+ is supposed to be 11inch not 10.5 so lets see….

    • Yahh,….and isn't it supposed to come with the S-pen and reviews say 12gb ram, so maybe this is the ancient one or the latest…the description is all over the place so who knows what you will actually get 🤔..

    • Same! Just ordered. See how it goes. Cost saving for OW price beat isn't worth the time driving down there and arguing with them for 30mins.

    • As an update - received it. It's definitely the a9+
      Arrived in under 24hrs

    @serpserpserp @jonoz @thrift seeker @juicyjacy

I went into Officeworks. They called 3 different people. They said that you can’t access it through the website so you can’t get it.

I had to show them how I could get it from the home page, which took a while but I stood my ground. Was rejected about 5 times and they constantly refused to follow my instructions on clicking the right parts of the website.

    Took half an hour.

    Finally got it.

Where there is a bargain, there is a way.

    • +9

Officeworks tends to do everything in their power to avoid honouring their price beat policy. Glad your persistence paid off

    • May I have the receipt please? So is easier for me to get the price in officework, thanks!

      • second this please! I can't seem to navigate to the product page either!

      • I think you need to enable messaging as I can’t start a conversation to send it to you

        • I sent you a message, thanks mate!

    • +1

I just bought it from Square after a failed attempt at OW.

      Gald it worked for you.

      • Can you confirm if this was an Australian model - i.e. the 2 year warranty- want to check before I pull the trigger.

    • +3

From Square's home page -> Hardware ->Accessories -> Display -> Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ (is the 4th one on the right)

      • Yeah that’s how you do it. They shouldn’t have any complaints after they access it through these steps

      • Awesome, worked well. One of them tried disqualifying me by saying the 2-7 business day delivery disqualified it lol

    • Could I also grab a receipt? :)

  • Is this any good for Stremio + RD?

    • I got an A8 from a previous Optus deal a couple years ago.
      Ran that combo fine.

  • Is this a good one for a home assistant dashboard?

  • Got one priced matched at OW Alexandria. Thanks

  • This tablet is a rectangle not a Square. Name doesn't check out.

Disappointed no one made this joke yet lol

    • A rectangle is just an unequal sided square, so…

      • 🤣 never heard anyone switch that around

    • We can be obtuse sometimes.

    • It was on the long side ;-)

  • with these cheapo price range I find they stutter froze or move rather slow

  • You are the real mvp. Just bought one, thank you.

  • Does anyone know if this one for $153 is the same one? https://squareup.com/shop/hardware/us/en/products/samsung-ga…

Looks like it may be with the difference being this is only 32gb

    • That's the US store, and also the non plus model

      • Ahhh right, my bad. Thank you.

  • Would this is cheaper with the cashback compared to Officeworks?

  • +1

Managed to get one from OW as well! Just need a case now.

    • +1

How did you price beat it? Lady over the phone said OW systems can't access squareup website lol

      • i went into store and was just all super friendly. Only comment the staff made was they didn't know Squareup sell Samsungs.

  • +2

I got mine in OW as well. Got a no over the phone as Squared don't put up a model number which is just rubbish.
Nice guy at my local OW did it in 2 seconds at 198.55.

Great gift for mum to watch her daily youtube :)

  • Weird that on the Samsung website has this as 8gb ram and Samsung support said this was 8gb too. Is this an old model?

  • It's over… Damn, was just on the phone with OW and they were almost ready till the price changed…
