How much is delivery? Please add this to the title.

Fyi there is a shipping post code checker on site .

        • Poor comparison. You can download the watch app too but i bet you have plenty of watches at home.

          • +3

@dosada: Wow it's $13.32 delivery for me to Sydney!!!

            Total… $15.61

Hence why the delivery price should be added to the title.

            • +1

@WatchNerd: Still cheaper than any of your watches ;)

            • +3

@WatchNerd: Yeah mines same qld giving it a miss .

              • +2

@spock: If shipping is almost 6 times the price of the item it's misleading optics not to mention it in the title.

                • @WatchNerd: So if it cost more say $10 then you wouldn't have negged it?!

    • Price from this seller on eBay: $19.95 Free postage

  • What’s that wired reader- do we need to place that sensor somewhere appropriate and will be connected to base all time?

    • -1

I'd say it'll be the sensor for the outdoor temperature & humidity. There's no communication (WiFi, etc) on the device so it has no way of getting weather information from other sources, so how does it do indoor & outdoor readings? By having a "wired reader that's connected to the unit but is itself located outside.

For the curious, going by the specifications listed on the similar looking WSD010, it works out the current weather (rainy, cloudy, etc) by reading the atmospheric pressure:

Wireless transmission of weather forecast via built-in barometer

      • +2

Yes - shows wired outdoor temperature sensor. Need to pass attached sensor to outdoors.

        built-in barometer

Doubt it! Having a few similar cheap "weather stations" - forecast is described as "Boolean" based on previous changes in temp & humidity. Next to useless - just a nice icon on the screen.

        • built-in barometer

          Doubt it!

Why? Sensors are cheap. Most phones these days have in-built barometers.

          • @Chandler: These ones are pretty old design. That's why they are being cleared out very cheap!

Bought similar devices 10 years ago for few dollars from China. Quickly thrown in ewaste bin.

The $150 weather station you linked incorrectly as "similar looking" does have a barometer & wireless outdoor temp & humidity sensors.
But by what logic would this very basic cheap wired outdoor (temp only) unit have a barometer??

Boolean forecasting is as simple as - if temp rising & humidity falling over days = likely to be sunny tomorrow.
            In my experience - useless!

Very unlikely this contains a barometer. Considering it doesn't even have a (cheap) wireless outdoor sensor. Nor outdoor humidity sensor!

A barometer & associated circuit + processing capability to forcast - is totally outside this unit's specs!

If it did - it would cost a lot more than $2.29!
(More like the cost of a mobile with a barometer - found in most mid-range to high-end smartphones! No phone I own has a barometer.)

I wouldn't buy expecting what you think this is!! Especially with added delivery cost!

      • I'd say it'll be the sensor for the outdoor temperature & humidity.

Read the description, rather than imagine features it doesn't have!

        No outdoor humidity sensor!
        Just indoor.

          OP's post:

Same information is displayed in the linked page:

The Weather station comes equipped with a wired outdoor sensor.

I replied "No outdoor humidity sensor! Just indoor."

Again, I point out that your claim the probe is also for outdoor temperature & humidity is wrong!
No outdoor humidity sensor! Only temperature.

Your reply did not prove otherwise! So don't know what you are trying to prove, except you're wrong🤔

The wired outdoor sensor is also shown

Yes. It's a basic sealed temperature only probe.
Humidity requires a larger unit with venting to outside.
I am used to using these wired probes. Wireless costs a bit more, but is so much better! That's what I use.

            As you copied
            Indoor and outdoor temperature display
With thermo-hygrometer sensors for indoor and outdoor temperatures

Not outdoor humidity as you claimed!

Outdoor humidity is required by Boolean forecasting to predict weather. If humidity is only recorded inside - there is no way it can predict outside conditions!

            Follow your own advice…

            I do!

You better read it again. Rather than imagine features it doesn't come with😝

            • @INFIDEL: Apologies. Your prior comment made no mention of outdoor temperature, so I thought you were saying it had no outdoor sensor at all. When I posted my original comment, I hadn't really read too much into it, was just making a presumption as to the purpose of the wired reader. If I had done so, then yes I would likely have pointed out that it only does temperature, not humidity; as you have done so now :)

ScamBait Ad. False postage in description.
    $13 Sydney, $10 Melb, $15 Hobart.

Also looks like it's from the 90s.

  • Am I vision impaired? It's possible. I looked everywhere for some dimensions. I can't grasp if this is an inch high or 10 feet. Searching the web didn't help much, seems like a pretty obvious thing that should be in product description on the website - unless I missed it.

    • looks about 10cm high

      • +1

lol. How on earth do you have any kind of reference?

        • +1

bundle of cables cant be that thick and extrapolate from there.

I apologise for using metric, i dont know imperial

          • @Headless: Cheers. The fact it isn't in the listing, that seems beyond ridiculous, such a simple bit of product info to include. Everyone receiving this is opening it to view unexpected dimensions.

  • +3

They (same company) are selling on eBay for $19.95 including delivery. So say a Hobart delivery mentioned above if that's correct then $2.29+$15=$17.29 thereby making this deal discounted by like $2.66 cheaper only.

The irony with this sort of baiting is U would probably move more product saying it was 17$ and free delivery

    ~$8.90 Australia wide

Misleading, which city is it ~$8.90?

    • They mean roughly 8.90 I think. It’s 9.90 within Melbourne shipping from mitcham

      • So what is $8.90, an average, the lowest cost of shipping, an arbitrary number plucked from the air? It seems like a deliberate way to mislead

  • Bought this at the same price when it was posted in 2019. Unit is still going strong and seems to be accurate.

Sounds pedantic but I dislike these types of units when they display Month/Day rather than Day/Month. I guess they're catering for the US market.

Just ordered 5 so a total of only $23.20 including post to metro Melbourne.
    Thats $4.64 each delivered…
Feel like i got a bargain now.

Going to have some relos saying WTF is this for at Christmas time…..lol.
