The Red Rooster app used to be full of deals… these days there are buggerall… what happened? KFC has become the go-to.

The Red Rooster KFC app used to be full of deals… these days there are buggerall… what happened? KFC local goddamn chip shop has become the go-to.

KFC is still better value than maccas with the burger combo and spamming the survey drink.

They need to fix the location, it's so clunky changing locations.

What is the burger combo you refer to?

          • +2

@rokufan: $9.95 in the app for zinger/crispy burger (I get pepper mayo), chips, drink and mash and gravy. Used to be like $7.95.

      day old chips

Yeah, that's not a thing in the fast food industry

    • +5

I am surprised that was the case. I find their chips and the chicken to be the best compared to other similar fast food chains. Perhaps a franchisee thing

      • all stinky oil thst turns blacj after frying three batches of fried lol

I go for their fried chicken now instead of kfc. Kfc chips are now rather disappointing

Red rooster fried chicken is top tier - i work for kfc

      • In my experience their fried chicken has decreased in quality since it was released. When it came out the pieces were sizeable and every time I had it it seemed to have been fried not long before purchase. These days the pieces are smaller (similar in size to KFC OR) and it seems like the chicken has been sitting for longer. Not sure if it’s the stores I visit now though.

        • Yeah, i had it delivered the other day - pieces were still a decent size but smaller then what they were at release

        • Maybe the more popular it got, the more they make in advance to anticipate demand during peak hours.

          • @star-ggg: Could be. From what I recall it was quite popular when it was released, so maybe they kept cooking it to keep up with demand. Sadly that doesn't explain the decrease in the size of pieces though.

      • I don't get all the raving reports for RR fried chicken, I find it to be extremely bland and lacking flavour.

I have never tried it with any of the sauces, because drowning something in a sauce isn't something I like to do.
Every time I've had the RR fried chook I have ended up with an empty stomach, but a disappointed one.

        • RR is less salty than KFC which you don't bland but I prefer. The skin is crispier with a more fresh fried feel. I also think the sweetness is the sauce blends well with three savoury chicken.

got one today, hardly any food. I remember when quarter chicken and chips used to be quite filling. Also, they probably treat the animals like crap like KFC, but don't know about RR

I think you'll find that the chicken both KFC and RR use come from exactly the same places… processed by someone like Steggles or Ingams, which source from many farms who all treat their chickens differently.

That makes it extremely hard to point the finger at a specific restaurant, since not even they know how each bird was treated before they cook and sell it.

      • As an ex employee … on thr workspace resource platform they had PR videos of where their chicken is sourced and other things…

Yapping about the RSPCA certified by some farmer 😂😂

        • lol… Of course they did, they've gotta brainwash the 15 year olds somehow 😂

  • The $5 sub snack box before today was a lot better deal

  • Literally around 15 small pieces of chips

  • Cheaper than cooking it. Sign me up.

  • Chicken treat has same deal for just $5 if you live in WA, and they're bigger portions too.

    • I haven't been to Chicken Treat for decades.
Is Chicken Treat the same style of cooked chicken?

      • Chicken Treat is rotisserie

        • I guess Red Rooster is in an oven?
Is the taste a lot different?

        • Chicken treat and red rooter are owned by the same company and both do fried chicken now.

Chicken treats BBQ chicken is hands down the best though
