Although it is not the best x3d processor, but the price is insane. It's almost the same price as 7800x3d.
Definitely ATL.

Rumours are the 9000 series going to come in at below the launch MSRP of the 7000 series… really trying to HODL but this does look good!

    • When are they releasing?

      • +1

End of this month, x3D versions end of this year start of next year.

  • +3

Come on 7800X3D, show us the price drop we're all wanting/waiting for!

    • +3

If you don't mind the aliexpress route there were some going for around $430.

      • +2

I'm worried I'd be the guy who gets the dodgy model only to find no warranty support when I need it lol

        • Nothing a little chargeback can't fix ;)

  • Phenomenal find OP.

  • +10

Keep in mind this is worse in gaming than the 7800x3d and worse in productivity than the 7900x,which is probably why the price is so low

    • +2

No one wants a 6 core X3D chip with a normal 6 core CPU on the side. = Price has tanked
Not that many people even want the 8 core X3D chip with a normal 8 core CPU on the side.

    • How much worse are we talking?

      • between 5-10% for gaming

        • Is that with or without Process Lasso?

          • +3

@BROKENKEYBOARD: The issue is that the non 3D cores are not always parking and the game wont always 100% of the time be running of the chip that has the 3D-V-cashe so FPS drops below what is expected,, i 100% think they will make the 9900X3D and 9950X3D two (2) X3D cores (CCX's) this time to avoid the issue.

If this 7900X3D WAS 2x X3D 6 core CCX's i would be placing my Oder for it right now at $586.34

            • +3

@vid_ghost: That's what Process Lasso is supposed to fix, it lets you force applications to run on specific cores.

              • @BROKENKEYBOARD: You said it yourself " supposed to fix " its not perfect so its a negative on the product

            • @vid_ghost: Either just run a virtual machine of some kind, or see if your motherboard BIOS has something like a “gaming/performance mode”, where performance disables the x3d cores, and gaming disables the non-x3d cores.

Damn, if I didn’t have to get a new mb and/or haven’t bought the 5900x recently, I’d totally buy this. So jealous

  • i have a 850W Gold PSU and also running a RTX4080 (base). Is my PSU sufficient to run this processor?

    • +2

No reason it wouldn't be. x3d series is extremely power efficient. Go for it

    • +4

Is there a reason you'd want this? Remember that the 7800X3D performs better for games

      • +1

My current processor is R5 2600  and i’m looking to upgrade

        • +3

Then pay less and grab the 7800X3D my friend - or wait just a month or 2 for the newest CPUs to come out

        • +2

Would require a whole platform upgrade to AM5?

          • +1

@prodnus: Correct. Yes mobo and RAM upgrades are part of my plan. I'm purchasing parts one by one as I prefer to capitalise on sales. Got that 4080 earlier this year.

            • @jianh: That’s some serious bottlenecking happening with your PC! Do your 4080 some justice and get a decent B650 board and 7800X3D

              • @qtmai: Yea exactly, that's why i'm shopping. PC still runs good though. Getting really good FPS out of games still.

But yes your point stands, that 4080 been sleeping.

If not desperate, better wait until formal price and specs announcement. If the new ones outperform current one by quite a bit, we'd get even sharper pricing.

Looking at the new one's efficient wattage it seems like it will open up a lot of possibilities, well hope so in theory anyway

Which one good for running stable diffusion ai?

    • +3

      4090

      • Already have 4090.

Apparently Ryzen 7 3700X and Intel Core i9-9900K more suited.

  • The 6+6 core split is a deal breaker. if only it was 8+4.
