worth noting that these have 24g of carbohydrates per 30g serve.

Sour patch kids have 26.82g per 30g serve.

What you're paying for here by buying these is the convenience of prepackaged serving sizes. There's nothing groundbreaking in the product itself. It's carbohydrates in sugar that gives you energy. There's a little bit more sodium, but you could add some to water which you should be drinking anyway alongside with these.

Maltodextrin (as contained in Clif shots) is better for fueling during endurance activities than glucose (contained in sour patch kids).

Clif shots also a lot easier to chew.

      Agree that they're overpriced though.

Yep, correct. For endurance training purposes though, you're not likely to need the difference. Maltodextrin also makes it's way out of your gut a little faster.

        • Maltodextrin…what's that? And why should I care it makes it's way out of my gut a little faster?

      • Sour patch kids are less than 50% glucose.
INGREDIENTS: SUGAR, INVERT SUGAR, CORN SYRUP, MODIFIED CORN STARCH, CONTAINS LESS THAN 2% OF TARTARIC ACID, CITRIC ACID, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, YELLOW 6, RED 40, YELLOW 5, BLUE 1.

And since maltodextrine is just a slow way of getting glucose cant we just spread out consumption of simpler sugars to get the same effect.

the point was not to suggest sour patch kids specifically as a form of sports nutrition, but rather to just consider cheaper alternatives, as sports nutrition is often a rort. You can get great results from just table sugar in water which is cents for a serve.

@Arty.R: I agree with you. I'm questioning whether maltodextrin is worth it too, especially at this price. But I'm sure dentists will disagree

        • That doesn't say less than 50% glucose.

Also, it's simply not practical to keep taking small amounts of simple sugars in endurance events/training. With something like maltodextrin you want to take it every 20 minutes, which is annoying enough over an event (or training) to keep track of, keep on doing. So I'd hate to have to take on sugar more frequently.

  • Is this flavour reasonable? I'm normally more of a Black Cherry or Strawberry guy myself

  • Legit thought these were dishwasher tablets from the pic

  • Why not Winners? A lot cheaper

      DIY sugar water/syrup even cheaper
