  • "Credit status and points earned to Qantas Frequent Flyer"

Are you saying that QFF "Status Credits" are earned on CX ticketed flights?

I understand they are "One World" but I believed only QFF points but not QFF Status Credits could be earned on non QF ticketed flights.

Can you please clarify Im probably wrong?

    • You can earn both Qantas points and status credits when flying in Cathay Pacific
      https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/earning-points/f…

      • yeah thanks… Ive been through that calculator before but have never been able to get a result for how many status credits for CX flghts. Or what qualifies as "eligible"

        • Eligibility always comes down to the booking class (a.k.a. booking code, fare class, fare bucket), which you then cross-reference against https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/earn-points/airl… - this is the only thing that matters, regardless of what the calculator says. (The calculator can be very misleading depending on the partner airline and route.)

Some airlines conceal the booking class altogether, some may reveal it only after you've booked, some have it during the booking process but not obvious to find, and a few airlines don't try to hide it at all. (Concealing the booking class should be totally illegal but that's not the world we live in.)

With Cathay it appears you need to select a flight, then on the passenger details page you can click "View details" near the top of the page and it will display the detailed flight information, including the booking class.

From a limited sample of random flights on different BOM/DEL routes, the booking classes included economy K, Q, S and Y; premium economy E and R; and business C and I. The good news is that most of those letters appear in the Qantas table for Cathay Pacific and are therefore eligible for QFF points and status credits, except Q and S.

Unsurprisingly, the bad news is that the cheapest airfares listed in this deal will almost certainly be Q and S, and therefore ineligible to earn any points or status credits. This may not be immediately obvious to a layperson using the Qantas points calculator, and they certainly won't have any idea about booking classes or cross-referencing the table.

          • @UrMumsOnlyFan: Thanks for the info… helpful.

The calculator is weird. If I put in BNE BKK it only calculates for JQ. Only when I put in BNE HKG or HKG BKK I have an option of choosing CX.

            • @pointnlarf: That isn't a fault of the calculator. Each leg must be checked separately.

              • @UrMumsOnlyFan: yeah the weird part was when I put in individual sectors for BNE BKK for CX I would get more status points than if I flew QF which didnt make sense…

                • @pointnlarf: What booking class are you looking at for BNE-HKG plus HKG-BKK, and at what price compared to QF.

      • QFF points and status credits may be earned but only if the booking class is eligible.

  • Its crazy how the prices more than double if you choose Delhi / Mumbai as the origin and Australia as the destination. I just want some affordable tickets to bring my mum over for the holidays :(

    • +1

I paid INR 91,000 to Singapore Airlines to bring my mom in October and fly back in November. It’s crazy how much the price have gone up.

    • Should drop now with the new visa rules kicking in from yesterday.

  • really good prices
sadly despite Cathay flying out of Cairns again during that period they charge fare more to fly far less distance.
India visa fees and appl procedure is a bit of a damper.
F the QFF points they are really F ing useless

  • All the flights are before or after diwali….Though good deal as it will not be very cold during this time…
