Got mine super cheap during the eBay deal

How is MS still maintaining these high prices?

Surely this console of almost 4 years, should be a lot cheaper now?

Evidently because people are willing to pay for one at these prices. No incentive to reduce it otherwise.

"Surely this console of almost 4 years, should be a lot cheaper now?"

Why? Not being angry, but if people are paying for the hardware at higher prices, and it costs Microsoft a lot to make them, why drop the prices?

People aren't. From what i've read Xbox console sales are slowing down. There was a Forbes article on this in April.

There is a chance that if they drop the price, lower than what it is atm, more people will buy it and MS makes money back by game sales and new Game Pass subscriptions.

        • Yeah I figure they could (but obviously shouldn't) give it away for free and still make plenty of money on the ink.

Do they try to sell more of them at a bigger loss though, possibly losing more money on it? I saw in 2022 they were selling at a $200 USD loss per XBox Series X. I don't know current values, but lowering prices to sell more might not be a financial benefit to them. They are pushing XBox on Windows more and even some XBox developed and exclusive games are moving to Nintendo and PlayStation, so the consoles don't seem like a big drive to them.

        • At the least, thanks to Microsoft for not raising the in the name of INFLATION! 😜😜

Not a great deal by any means. Anything more than $650 for Xbox Series X is not even a decent deal let alone a good deal.

    • +6

Cool, please share a current link where it's cheaper.

      • Objectively this isn’t a great deal. Just look at all the deals on OzB in the month of June. You see the is just on par, as the $5 you saved on top being Costco came out of the membership fee anyway. There were much much better deal throughout the past 2 weeks. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/Xbox%20series%20x

Was $639 just over a week ago and $669 with a game.

This is Costco though, I assume it's basically a free one year rental.

  • Was $550 all along the EOFY deals on Woolies marketplace, both SB and CR have had their runs.

Well I just read up on the Costco return policy and Video Game Consoles are included in their Lifetime Change of Mind policy…

Does this mean I can buy the Xbox, play it for a few years, then return it?

    • +1

For electronic goods, Costco Wholesale’s return policy for change of mind only applies for 90 days from the date the member receives the following goods: televisions, projectors, major household appliances (including refrigerators, freezers, rangehoods, cooktops, microwaves, dishwashers, washers and dryers), computers, touchscreen tablets, smart watches, cameras, aerial cameras (including drones) security cameras, camcorders, MP3 players, cellular phones and portable air conditioners.

      • I'd googled it further and yes it is possible to return the xbox at any time. Dunno why I'm down voted, their policy literally states "for any reason" which could mean 'I'm bored with it/want to upgrade to the new one'

        • Upgrade to new one like the superior PS5 right? 😎

  • Anyone have any thoughts on a good controller, that won't suffer from stick-drift? 3 out of 4 controllers now afflicted….

    • Anything with hall effects
