  • Anyone with experience on using this brand? Compared to the more expensive brand?

    • +4

      this is excellent
been using this and the old one for 4 years

      • absolutely this is very good have been using it on my new car and it does beads water and easy to apply and wipe.

    • yeah there are heaps of prev. posts of this stuff, with many ppl (including myself) approving of it

    • +1

This stuffs great been swearing by it for a while now

  • +1

Sorry, not related to deal but what products do you use before applying this? Like a pre-wash or decontamination product?

    • +6

for me it's the final step
foam spray, car wash and as it's semi dry I apply this
      lasts quite a while

    • +2

I reckon at home, a thorough wash and then a clay bar prior to applying these.

    • +1

For the initial coat I make sure to clay bar, for touch up if you've cleaned it so the paint is pretty smooth then it's fine for a re-coat.

    • Wash, detailer / clay bar, cut, polish, wax

      • Don't wax before putting on a ceramic coat, it messes with the bonding process.

  • Anyone around the eastern suburbs of Melbourne wanna share? I'm based out of Doncaster.

    • You apply it at the end (wash > decontaminate > should wash again > buff > ceramic coat).

      • What/how do you decontaminate?

        • Depends. What are your contaminants?

        • Clay bar will do.

        • Clay bar

    • Keen to split in Melbourne.

      • +4

Have you tried talking to her first?

      • Where are you based?

      • I'm keen, you on the west?

      • If you'd just like a single bottle for $25 i'd be happy to sell you one mate.

        Yarraville / Maidstone area (home/work)

  • +6

Who is using 6 bottles of the stuff!?! I bought this some time ago and applied it …. it says apply very little and it last a long time …. how do you get through 6 bottles?!

    • Agree. Only want one bottle for private use. I am not running a car detailing business here.

      • +2

Completely agree, ordered one 4 years ago, yet to open the seal. What will I do with 6?

    • OzBargain YO!

    • I'm on my 2nd bottle I do use more than 'very little'

  • How long does the coat last for in the real world?

    • I wash and reapply every 4 - 6 odd weeks and it seems to maintain for that period. TBH you probably wanna wash about that regularly anyway if you love your car, cos birdshit etc

      • Dumb question here. Is this the same kind of coating the pros use when the dealerships offer the paint protection packages?

        • +1

Some might but this is called a spray sealant which lasts on average about 4-6 months.

When dealerships offer paint protection packages it’s mostly pointless and won’t be done to a good standard but normally they offer ceramic coating which are more stronger then the spray on sealants and last anywhere from 1+ years onwards.

        • I'd hope they use much much higher quality products and techniques, given they are usually charge several hundred to a couple thousand dollars for professional paint protection.

I just got a new car and thought about doing the pro paint protection, and decided not to given my old near 20-year-old car had very good paint with only me washing it my way since I bought it new.

Personally unless you have a Bugatti Chiron, I'd just wash your car about once a month and use something like this product as a finishing coat and save your money. Takes me 1 hr 15 mins to wash 2 cars with a snow foam cannon and then this stuff, including setup and pack away.

          There's also this: https://youtu.be/uw3eO1rI6Eo

      • +1

Doesn't the product says it can last up to 6 months? I don't really want to apply it every month, will be a pain in the ass.

        • Well it might, but what product doesn't bend the truth? Perhaps they mean in ideal conditions where you never take the car out of the garage!

In any case it takes about 10 mins to do a whole car, and in my experience is way, way quicker than the old-style wax or polish.

        • I don't think it last 6 months that is best case scenerio

      • TBH you probably wanna wash about that regularly anyway if you love your car, cos birdshit etc

If you are leaving bird shit, or worse - bat shit, for several weeks then the damage is done.

Batt shit will eat through a clear coat in a few hours.

If you really care about your car, you have a container of wipes ready to get rid of stuff like that on the go, and you wash it regularly.

    • Reapplying every 3-4 months is best. After the initial wash, I waited a week, washed and added a second coat, now its maintenance every 3 or 4 months (could prob go longer?) and in between washes are fast, dirt just falls off pretty much.

Lots of vids of youtube vids out there and this one is one of the best even when compared against stuff like meguiars etc.

Works wonders on the windscreen too in winter. Ice/Frost couldnt bond properly while my gf had to scrape ice off her windscreen (have since applied it for her too)

  • +1

    This stuff is excellent.

See prior posts re this stuff - been using for some time now.

Not the cheapest bulk Amazon deal but close and far better than Aus special prices.

Bought- no have to find a mate or two that would like to by a couple.

  • +1

personally only used the Meguiars version of this. Very good product. Beads well. lasts a while, much easier to apply than conventional wax.

would recommend with an older car if it is first time application to Clay-bar it first before spraying.

    • +1

Would not recommend using a clay bar if you aren’t going to use a polisher after as clay bar causes marring which only comes off with a finishing polish and pad in most cases.

  • Can I just foam, wash off, 2 bucket method, wash off, then apply this product?

    • 2 bucket is old-school? I thought the go was a stack of microfiber wipes used once?

    • That’s what I do (drying first though)

  • +1

Theres also single bottles for $34.21 on Amazon Obviously not as good of a deal as this but a good price for those who only need one bottle.

Also theres a good comparison video here if you're interested in the performance of the product

    • -2

C'mon mate, give it to him for cost price

      • -2

unfortunately the only way i could justify buying a 6pk to the misses was the idea some of the cost would be remitted by a few people getting a bottle with a slight mark-up. I figure it's a great way to give other Ozbargainers a cheaper single bottle than they'll find anywhere else on the interest whilst (possibly) making my own purchase a little cheaper.

    • +1

      Hah! Nice username.

I'll grab one too can you DM me details also.

      • Hello fellow slip streamer, will flick you a DM shortly

    • That's not on. You buy 6 bottles for $110.67, then you sell 5 bottles for $125, for a profit of $15.67? No.

      • Why?

It's cheaper by far than the cheapest single bottle anyone could find online. It means people can get a single bottle for themselves at the cheapest price online, i take on the risk of buying all 6 bottles ?

It's literally the way the worlds economy works, yet you think i have some obligation to provide at cost to people i don't know and have no relationship with? Why..

        • +2

            @edfoo: bargain
            /ˈbɑːɡ(ɪ)n/
            noun
            1.
an agreement between two or more people or groups as to what each will do for the other.
"bargains between political parties supporting the government"

            2.
a thing bought or offered for sale much more cheaply than is usual or expected.
"the table was a real bargain"

Where is it ever stated that a bargain is not supposed to contain any sort of profit to the person selling the item?

That idea is just ridiculous, there was nothing remotely unreasonable about me offering to buy 6 bottles of something then sell them individually far cheaper than the cheapest single price you can find online. That is in fact the actual definition of a bargain.

If you want to go out and purchase bulk quantities of items then offer them to random strangers on the internet at cost price why don't you go out and do it then?

Seriously, why aren't you doing that in the "spirit" of ozbargain?

You've literally stated in a comment above, and i quote : "Agree. Only want one bottle for private use. I am not running a car detailing business here."

So for people like yourself, having someone go out and by all six bottles, to then be able to offer you one at an absolutely reasonable markup which is literally cheaper than ANYWHERE online so you don't have to be "a car detailing business" you'd think would actually be appreciated.

but nope, your mentality is "nah (profanity), you buy them all and then give me one at cost ay, thanx bye"

The worst thing about all this is that I'm not even doing it to make any (profanity) money, the mark-up is (profanity) all in the grand scheme of things and was only used to justify to the misses in buying all 6 bottles. I'll probably end up giving the remaining ones away to friends as gifts or whatever.

The sense of entitlement some people display around here blows my mind sometimes.

            • @Slipstream: lol, agree with much of your sentiment (although I am by choice, and not expecting others to do same, going to offload some at unit cost in CBR). In the interests of your well-being, probably best to avoid the DISKAD Dishwasher deal thread: even worse in there, for a heavy appliance selling at 1000 less than IKEA was a few months ago.

  • +1

Unless you're giving some away or splitting the costs you're never going to get through 6 bottles.

    • This is more like a lifetimes supply, provided they don't expire before you do

  • I grabbed the last 6 bottles. Hopefully this stuff doesn't go off or have an expiration date!

    • +3

      I wouldn't drink it regardless

  • Any folks interested to split in Canberra send me a PM (already bought, grab 2-4 at cost price).

  • +1

$110 just buy real ceramic coating

    • How much is real ceramic coating? How long does it last?

      • +1

        Diy Gyeon is ~$200
        As a service ~800+

  • Have been using 303 graphene and get around 6-7 months of of the stuff before it's properly gone and have been happy with it.

My next one will be Griots 3 in 1 as that's the one that seems to get to the 10-12 month mark.

  • Bought a box last deal and still have 5 bottles. Happy to sell a few to others in SE Melbourne (located in Springvale) if anyone else lives around that area

    • Swap ya for a Daniel Donut brah

    • messaged you

This is a good consumer product. Works even better if your car already has paint correction and a proper ceramic coat done on it. Lasts about 1 month-ish. I can def report it's great at keeping the dirt off.

When you wash the car most of it is probably removed so you need to reapply everytime.

Personally I don't recommend using a clay bar on the car without doing some kind of polish after. Nowadays I don't bother with clay bars - send it to the detailer for a decontamination once a year is enough (or less if you are stingy).

    • When you wash the car most of it is probably removed so you need to reapply everytime

Based on what? Are you washing you car with dish soap?

      • My experience. I use a pre rinse foam and neutral pH shampoo.

The effectiveness of the beading is greatly reduced after I wash the car. Probably in part as I already have a ceramic coating and this top sealant washes off more easily.

  • Anyone would like to go halves DM me. Due to be delivered between 23rd July to 8th August. Pick can be arranged anywhere around St. Albans 3021 or Oak Park.3046.

  • having said that getting 6 botles at one go seemed an overkill

  • Price has gone up to $147 and only one pack left.

  • -1

OZB logic is spending $100 on this and doing it every few weeks instead of $600 to get your car ceramic coated once every 5 years.
