  • @jv I hope this title passes the test

  • @alvian Thanks. It wasn't easy :)

    My God these are ugly

Someone got very very rich flogging wearable polyester blankets to the sort of people who watch Googlebox.

      • -4

        wearable polyester blankets

        Are they polyester ???

        No thanks then…………

        • +2

Yeah, made from "fleece", which is usually PET.

          • -1

            @Ham Dragon:

            which is usually PET.

            cats & dogs ???

@jv: Considering the country of origin, not an unreasonable assumption.

        • +7

Theyre still extremely soft and comfy. And they hold up pretty well to being washed over the years. Obviously not breathable at all but thats kind of the point of it imo. I feel SO warm inside these things, really saves on my power bill I reckon because I need the heater much much less.

          • @Nolanb134: I'm more concerned about the health issues of wearing polyester clothing, not the softness…

      • -1

        You are right

        What is a sherpa fleece?
Sherpa is a curly piled fabric structure made of synthetic yarns like acrylic or polyester.

        😠

        • -2

Wow, that's BS… Greenwashing at its peak. If I had 3 seconds to guess what 'sherpa fleece' was made of, I would either go for wool, or yak hair lol.

Haven't run the heating at home in years in Melbourne due to my Oodie. Same Oodie going strong after 3 years a many many cycles through wash. Saved a lot on gas heating bills 🤷

        • -1

Sure, if you want to ignore the health issues.

        • +1

Same here. Whilst it's certainly not going to win any fashion awards, I don't imagine anyone cares about wearing it around the house.

      • +4

Thing is if these were made from an organic fibre they'd definitely be charging 3-4x the price.

It's likely that microplastics from these Oodies are now in someone's testicles, somewhere.

  • Can't beat the Oodie I got for $1 back in November!

  • It's just min. $39 spend right? A$49 Oodie will still get $29 back from what I can see.

  • +2

$39 should be the RRP for these things.

  • +7

Downvoting for 3 reasons: overpriced, made from micro-plastics, and the fact they try to hide (behind marketing spin) that it's made from plastic. From their website:

"What are the Oodies made from?

Oodies are made from a premium sherpa fleece interior and soft, ToastyTek™ flannel fleece exterior."

Even if you don't care that the product is made from micro-plastics, you could easily get essentially the same thing from aliexpress for $20-30.

I agree with you about how they hide how it's made from plastic. It took me on a short google hunt and found out sherpa fleece can actually mean plastic.

That said, I disagree about getting the same from AliExpress. I've used and felt a fair few of the knock offs and nothing comes to the same feel and quality of the Oodie. I use mine every winter for weeks.

If I'm being honest, this is about all it's worth IMO.

  • For short people, is it better to buy kids size?

    • +2

I’m 5ft and own the adult size one. My daughter has the kids size and it fits me but it’s as big as the typical oversized jumper for women so it leaves my legs cold. the adult size is just a little bit over 5 inches from my feet so it doesn’t touch the ground.

      • Thanks

    • +1

@AnKu I contacted the Oodie on live chat and they also recommended the adult size for a short adult.
