Thanks updated
Seems like they're clearing all the remaining AM4 socket cpus now
RIP I spent $900 on this a few years ago during COVID…
I would have done that too, but OOS everywhere so had to go with the 5800X that no-one seemed to want.
To the “3600x is enough for gaming crew”: yes probably somewhat enough, but absolutely did find improvement both on 1% lows and OUTSIDE of the frame rate everything else I do on my second screen. (I have a 4K and 2k monitor so you’d think i would be GPU bound and I am)
but 5900x absolutely did make difference on smoothness of everything… you don’t realise how much single core stuff there is until you get a better cpu.
Waiting on the AMD 9000 Series X3D chips in September. Will be a mega update going from a 2012 Intel 3770. Longest I have had a single build. God damn, it's been 12 years. After 2012, the CPU space died with 4-10% improvements per gen for years. I had to literally wait a decade for a CPU to 2x the single core performance of the Intel 3770 from 2012.
I've had friends who held on to a 2500k for a decade for the same reason, wouldn't blame you.
I did this. Won the silicon lottery with mine. Cranked it to 5ghz. Still runs to this day as a server
Well done hodling for that whole time!!
Fell out of gaming when I bought my first house lol. Main reason for not needing to upgrade for a decade+. From needing a hardcore PC for gaming, I went to Excel and Powerpoint presentations hehehe. Now that I smashed the mortgage well down in the past 10 years eating 2 min noodles, it is time to get back into PC gaming.
Just realised your username. :)
3770 actually quite the beast hey! Slapped a 3770s in the Dell 27 XPS all in one I "repaired" (Dell via Grays Online) back around 2012 as well and literally just replaced their machine a few weeks ago even though was still chugging along.
Feel stupid for buying one of those 5700x3d chips now
I mean the 5700x3d probably still stomps on the 5900x for most gaming things and some file things… wouldn't feel too bad
How do? Is this better for multi threaded
You've put specs for a 5950
