I've had this phone (in white as well) for 2 weeks now, did that JBHIFI $50 3G phone credit trade in thing, got it for $479…

    Pros
    - Excellent screen (120Hz OLED, 6.7" and 1200+ nits)
    - Haptics and build quality are nice (design subjective)
    - Glyphs on the back actually useful for notifications
    - Battery life is actually insane, overnight I will lose 1% in 9-10 hours, it's a 2-day phone for me with 6-8 hours screen on time
    - Camera is probably iPhone 12 good.. video is great and very stable, night video is impressive too!
    - Software is the best part of this phone for me, already had 3 updates in 2 weeks… my old Xiaomi had 3 updates in 9 months lol
    - Symmetrical bezels
    - 4 years of updates from Google/Nothing
    - Don't be fooled by MediaTek, its not 2019 anymore, this is an incredibly efficient chip with a 750K antutu score.

    CONS
    - Camera is good, but it's not a flagship, it is a $500 phone though
    - Glyphs can feel gimmicky after a while
    - No charger in the box
    - Get a case, this thing is 100% plastic and will scratch
    - It's huge/wide phone, may be uncomfortable to hold for some.

Just my 2c… 9/10 for me given its price.

    • Any SD card storage expansion?

      • +3

No headphone jack or SD expansion, no esim.

        • +1

can live w/o headphne jack but no SD card slot no good for me, hope to see this goes $300 in the future

          • @kaikor: I can live without either, but not both.

Using a hub to dongle both my music library AND my headphones is an exercise in bulk and damaged ports im just not keen on.

glad you mentioned mtk chips not being 2019 anymore, chips do evolve and improve and mtk offers a lot more value as they generally offer similar performance to SD yet typically good amount cheaper for the same phone

    • Thanks for the review, appreciate it.

How is it compared to xiaomi in terms of bloatware? Other misc stuff they're forcing you to use? I think I kept getting the smart messaging stuff with the xiaomi phone.

      • +5

0 bloat, essentially stock google apps, plus 3 or 4 from nothing, eg. weather, compass etc. All of them can be uninstalled rather than disabled.

        • Well…it's depends how you define bloat. One could argue all the custom apps Nothing and skin over android is bloat.

        • how to uninstall nothing weather? there is no uninstall button on mine

The phone looks amazing. Thank you for the 2 cents on this phone. You've almost convinced me to buy this instead of continueing to use my S20U

It's huge and uncomfortable to hold - that's what she said

      • Hmm, she said it to me as well

    • The latest iPhone and Samsung are both wider so not a problem. I have the Nothing Phone 1 and I don't even both with the Glyphs. I've got a dozen chargers lying around so not an issue. Yes you need a case but I always have a case on every phone I get. Camera is great and as you say it's only a $500 phone. Mine is 256GB which is more than enough. The best phone I've ever owned.

    • thx for the insight! does it have dual sim?

  • MediaTek? @shxhshzhz's favourite is a no brainer…

    • The 7200 Pro is stronger than the 7020 but in terms of value for money, the G54 is a no brainer 😂

  • does it allow to install alternative OS ?

    • If you have to ask this question. Then no.

There's only a couple of custom ROMs ATM. https://xdaforums.com/f/nothing-phone-2a.12838/?prefix_id=33

These are NOT 'alternative OS', technically they are all based on Android. And the way to install them is not just a few taps on the phone, so if you are new to doing this (custom rom) start out on a cheaper phone that is better supported by dev community.
