It can do that, and no need to hardwire - it has a gigabit ethernet port.
A more budget friendly version is a secondhand router from marketplace for $15 (assuming you don't need fancy wifi 6)
I was particularly interesting in having WiFi 6 for higher speeds and handling more devices.
Then my suggestion is not for you as per my suggestion.
A WiFi6 AX5400 VX420 is often on marketplace for under $50, some even brand new never used. The 4G is also great for Felix $40 unlimited too, although with Felix's 20Mbps cap you probably don't need WiFi6 in the first place.
Decent extender. I use it in mesh mode with my AXE75 router to get Wi-Fi to my shed.
I paid $144.90 in March.
I still don't get it. You can use a full AX3000 tp-link router to do exactly the same thing, for a few dollars more.
I got another AX55-Pro for $117 from Amazon last week to match my main router. Powered it up, told my main AX55-Pro to look for an EasyMesh device, and it found it and now its an instant mesh and I can plug in my ethernet printer and provide a 4 port switch and mesh wifi to that side of the house. My main router was even able to update the mesh device's firmware.
Now I have an indentical spare router in case my main one craps out. And I can do 2.5Gbps ethernet backhaul EasyMesh if I wanted to, for less than $30 more.
EDIT: AX55-Pro is only $108 bux today
https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0BNYT4764?psc=1&smid=ANEGB3WVE…I got a cheap ASUS RT-AX1800S (which looks like a re-dressed TP-link AX3000) following a similar advice in this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/848931.
You'd think with four external antennas and more ports, LEDs, whatnot it's a no-brainer, but the coverage and performance seems to be the same as my cheap Tenda Nova MW5c cubes, a set of three costing not more than as a single router in question…
So yeah, IDK about performance of this extender, but it might be doing a better job in what it's designed for. If you need the ports or to connect better antennas - then the wifi world is your oyster.
Is it better to stick to the same brands or will that TP-link work fine with my Asus ax58u
Purchase another Asus RT to create a mesh Wi-Fi network.
They work great. I have one upstairs and one in the garage connected to my AX6000. The GB port works well connected to a POE switch for the cameras.
there is a RE705X AX3000 v2, but looks like not available for sale yet.
This looks like it would make a decent budget WiFi access point if hardwired to the router. Thoughts?
