  • i wonder if these pcs are affected by the power profile issue

    • OEM's tend to be more conservative with their power delivery, which is mainly due to the motherboard power delivery and if its complete rubbish and how the cooling of the chip is setup. Can't say they aren't affected but id say it's less likely however the chips are likely to have lower perfomance in the OEM builds as well due to this.

Looking at the case that looks like it could be a frikin oven… intel chips in that thing? i'd be a bit wary of it.

  • Chromebook for $279.74 seems cheap too

Major downside is 768p resolution on a 14 inch display.

  • https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364705670195?itmmeta=01J17FC3JF0… is this worth it? also, shows up 4,963.29 for me

    • Nope

      • thanks, whats most bang for the buck?

        • +6

This looks much better buy if you really need a 4090 machine. Coupon seems to be still active.
But the thing is that that the 4090 is not great value. A mid to high range card like the 4070 Ti Super in the OP offers much better bang for your buck

Anyone want a pc? I want the GPU. 😊

    • do u live in wa?

      • NSW. But shipping! DM me if you're keen. :)

        • +1

local would be better for me. ty

          • @s26f84: i live in WA, whats the plan? i take the GPU and you take the rest?

      • Hunting for a GPU and in WA. Lmk if you know if you're looking to break one of these up @s26f84

        • hey i can do that too, send me a PM you dont have PM enabled

    • +3

Probably not a good time to buy the 4090 though.

      • Why not? Genuinely interested

        • +3

          hodl for 5090

          • +5

@Aureus: why not wait few years for 7090? ;)

            • +5

              @s26f84: Even better. 👐💎

But the 5090 might come out in a few months. Seems silly to buy a $3k GPU right at the end of the cycle.

              • +3

@Aureus: that's why was keen on lordra's offer ;). btw i am still running series 6 i7 haha. unsure why I am here looking at 5k PCs!

                • @s26f84: Mate, you won't belive what I"m running, lmao. It's 10 years old.

                  • @lordra: I’m still on a 1080. Just played Hellblade II, and though it slowed to a crawl at times, it still looked damn good. HODL until smoke comes from the case.

              • +2

@Aureus: This is why I said no to 4090 atm. We have been HODLing for Computex and now that that is over, we have some answers.
The general consensus is to HODL because the 5090 is just around the corner.

        • +9

5080 will surpass the 4090 at a lower price point. Furthermore, 4090 PCBs are relatively thin despite being load bearing. A common mode of failure for 4090 GPUs is the PCB fracturing at the PCIe slot. All 4090 GPUs share the same weakness since they use an identical PCB spec.

          Several solutions:
          1. Anti-sag bracket/GPU brace
          2. Riser cable and mount the GPU elsewhere
          3. Watercooled 4090

I would also stay away from the 14900k CPU. Extremely high power draw and is known to suffer silicon degradation due to this.

          • @ozdog64: Will the 5080 be limited to 16gb though?

            • @greatlamp: Jensen would like that to push us to the 5090, but hopefully it will be at least 20GB…

      • +1

That's overkill for Division 2 XD

        • +1

Ready for Division 3 mate! 🤩

  • We have them where we want them lads! HODL!!!!1111ONE1111

  • Will this be able to run GTA 6?

  • in time for back myth wukong

  • What do people use gaming laptops for? Gaming while travelling?

    • and looking cool…

    • yes gaming at the airport particularly in the Qantas lounge

  • 27q is little bit cheaper but i7+4080 is $150 more expensive comparing to last time.

  • Does anyone know what brand of 4070 ti super the video card used in this build is? Ditto for the PSU?

    • Both are HP OEM models, this is very different from lets say a Techfast deal. PSU is a 600W 80+ Gold ATX PSU.

      • Different as in better? Would have thought the techfast one would perform better? Maybe swap out psu though.

  • This or the $1999 techfast deal? :)

    • +1

Spec by spec comparison, the HP one is cheaper

32GB RAM, 4070 Ti Super, Win 11 home

      • i7-14700F, 1TB SSD, 1TBHDD): HP $2,297.69 with < Techfast $2,535.00 after discounts.
      • Ryzen 7800X3D: Techfast $2,426 (2TB SSD)

HP again?! Thanks op for posting but honestly not recommend this deal. Got one from previous deal and refunded as advised by fellow ozbargainers.

    • What was wrong with it?

    • I’d also like to know what was wrong with it. The two things I could see are flaws are the air cooler and case, both easily swappable as HP actually uses standard form factor parts

  • With 1440p and 4k gaming, does it matter if I go i9 or i7 ? I heard from those resolutions the biggest performance driver is the GPU. I’d be looking at 4070 ti super / 4080/ 4090

    • +2

Clockspeed and cache are the biggest factors for gaming after you reach 6 cores, there's not an appreciable difference between the i9 and i7 for gaming no.

    • 4070TiS for 1440p titles of today. 4080 for 1440p future proofing.

4090 for 4K gaming. Some next gen UE5 titles already push the 4090 to its limits, struggling to break 60 FPS at 4K with DLSS…

  • Anyone know if HP Omen 16
    16.1" QHD 13th Gen i7 16GB 512GB RTX4060 $1,979.40

    Is a good deal??? 🤝

    • +1

don't think so. search for 4060 laptop here and you'll find some with similar or better specs for lower price. check for features not listed as well like fingerprint readers
