Hi all,

Was browsing fuel additives and noticed this stuff on clearance at Repco. Seems a good deal considering it's currently selling for $23.99 at Supercheap. Reviews look decent too.

Cheers

PSA this is the old version that does NOT contain PEA Polyetheramine.
Polyetheramine is the only chemical proven to work you need to buy the Rislone High-Performance Injector Cleaner - 177mL its more expensive

  • Check the date of manufacture….it deteriorates over time

  • $23.99 at Supercheap

You can price beat - not much from memory I think it was like $1 if not less

    • They probably wouldn't do it if it's a clearance item.

Gumout is my go to. I think it has the most amount of PEA and works like a treat.

    • Hmmm, at $38 the Gumout better have the most PEA!!

But I reckon 4 of these Rislone's will have more total PEA than one Gumout?

Like others have said, these things only work for older or poorly maintained cars that have carbon build-up. If you have a relatively new car and you always use premium fuel, this will be a waste of money.

      • 4 of these will have no PEA in it at all.

  • This crap does nothing. Snakeoil.

    • yeah, if petrol companies could add something to clean injectors they would and charge a bit more for fuel, problem is their claims might not make it through consumer affairs as making a difference …. even the 98 octane adds claim cleaner engine which could just be the result of car driving habit or being tested on treadmill …. this stuff, does it say cleans injectors or your money back ?

    • Any data to back up what you're claiming?

      • yes the bottle doesn’t says cleans your injectors or money back …BP ultimate 98 octane says cleans your engine.

Honestly if your car is pushing 200k's+ this helps, i had a Kia Sportage with 250,000k's and this dropped fuel consumption some 2L/100k's. I think the injectors were pretty cooked and there was a bit of carbon build up.

As @muchape has said this is the old fomula, the one you're looking for is the Hy-per fuel injector cleaner with P.E.A

If your car has done any less the benefits are dubious.

I remember reading about fuel additives a while ago - methinks nothing's changed…BTW PEA is a key ingredient in Techron:
