Original Coupon Deal

After spending a bit too much time on OzBargain I came to understand this chair is a fan favourite.

The TL:DR is it's definitely no Herman Miller but it's also a fraction of the price. There doesn't seem like there are better options for the same coin. I have one and haven't had any issues or desire to change it, so just ordered a second for my two kids. My wife bought chairs for us both at x2.5 the cost from a reputable brand, they're great but I can barely tell the difference between those and the ErgoDuke.

Currently $189 or $179 after using the coupon EOFY10. It'd be a real bargain if it was free shipping (which it is to some area's) but I got stung $69 to get it to WA.

  • Price in title please..

  • is this a good chair?

    • Had this for a couple of years and it’s been pretty good for the price. Fairly comfortable and breathes well, and does support a decent enough posture for a long day.

      • +1

:D glad I bought one. Was recently considering a secret lab, despite looking cool and comfy, $800 is hard to justify on a chair! Thanks OP

      • +1

        It arrived, it's super comfy!

        • Glad to hear! Enjoy.

    • +22

      You mean stealing their chair..?

      • Lol

        • -3

Not saying it's right, but if real wages continues with its downward trend, more of us will resort to thievery one way or another…

…or we just have to settle for less and buy some really shit stuff.

          • +10

@ElSyd: Or you can just not be a shitty person?

          • +1

@ElSyd: Buy within your means or get better.

          • @ElSyd: I assume you’re doing better off than someone on the street, can they come and steal from you and I guess it’s all ok?

Just because you can’t afford it doesn’t justify theft.

    • -1

      THAT'S BORROWING NOT STEALING LOL

  • +3

how does this compare to the 100 Aldi one?

    • -1

I'd guess this has better cushioning … guessing doe.

    • +1

My aldi one has a massive lean on one side after a few months. Avoid.

  • +7

I think this is the chair I have or at least it looks exactly the same as the one I have had for years. The arms are wobbly as (profanity) and I bought a back support i put in. Only real upside is that it doesn't get hot in summer so my ass doesn't get sweaty. I personally would not recommend

    • -3

I bought a back support i put in

This is how you know that a chair doesn't function as a chair should.

Aeron is actually a huge bargain if you sit a lot.

    • Do the arms collapse down from a raised position if you lift yourself up from a slouch? Like as in fully supporting your entire weight on both arms?

  • +1

Armrests do not tilt otherwise good.

  • I bought one and thought it was not bad, good lumbar support and all the adjustments you'd expect. Only thing is, it might be a bit small if you're like me 185cm and taller, otherwise my partner who is 175cm uses it perfectly fine.

    • A lot of the chairs I have to have a footrest because I'm too short to slouch down. I hope I don't need to for this.

Also, my ikea chair I keep moving around. probably not ergonomic.

    • I'm like 180cm ish hmm

  • +2

The Markus chair from Ikea is a good option in this sort of price range (slightly more). Very happy with mine.

    • Nah I find the Markus chair really bad. It's too tall for me, I'm 164cm, so it's a pain on my legs. My knees are shorter than the base, and I tend to wriggle around more on that chair (not ergonomic) than uni/corporate chairs

      • I don't think it's a problem with the chair!

      • Did you give a test in store before getting it?

        I'm 195cm, it's good for me ;)

        • It's not mine. My brother didn't want it lol. It's seat depth is 47cm which can be a problem if the person has a posture problem. May need to get lumbar support.

      • Same height here basically. Just got a Markus.
        Too tall? Nah.

    • +1

      markus

I liked the Markus but preferred the JÄRVFJÄLLET

But actually prefer HATTEFJÄLL over either of them.

      • +1

I didn't like the armrests on the Jarv. Yes, adjustable, but flimsy and a bit rickety when I tested in store. Jarv definitely was more customisable from memory. I don't recall seeing the Hatte when I bought my chair.

  • I'm have something like this and its been nice. Bought a Anda chair before this and that sucked but very tempted on a Razer chair. Have seen very good reviews.

    • Which Andaseat did you buy and what was wrong with it?

  • +1

I'm in the market for a new office chair before EOFY so this is great timing. This or Markus (from Ikea), or something else?

    • I love the recline on the Markus.

  • The specs are confusing. Can someone please confirm if the seat height is 30cm or 44-54cm?

  • +1

Thank you OP. just put my old one in hard rubbish yesterday— Great timing!
Also Cashreward has upsized cashback @ 12% before midnight today. and triple everyday reward points. not bad.

    • thanks. It's 12% in total without GST, right? What's the $10 cap they mentioned?

  • Here's some more reviews (negs) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/691201

  • Had Markus from Ikea for about 5 years, it's time to try something new.. 😂 Even though I did not need a new chair, thanks for the recommendation lol

169$ with code and some rewards dollar.

I guess it's way ahead compared to ikea, which is basically a crap chair.

    • let me know how it goes c:

      • There are so many things I don't like about ikea chair but I ended up standing all day long due to my sit bones, I just wanted to get rid of Markus, I'll sell it for getting some money back. The fixed arm rests, hated those. Basically everything is fixed 😂

        • -2

yeah fixed is a tad annoying…

my old gamin chair i attached the arms then sorta wanted to get em off but couldn't really unscrew em w the thingy mybob alloy key wrench thingy so i gaveup 😭…

the chair later went kaput a few yr later like late last yr i believe … the gosh dang like thingy under the seat or like something else broke and it would like fall back lol but still be attached .

        • -2

but yeh let's see how dis new chair goes aye.

if i do really get a new chair i hope it's got really good cushioning so my ass ain't in pain or ending up numb 😭😂… and good tailbone / back supports!!

  • There is no way to find out the seat depth which may be useful to know for short people so I hope this chair is right.

    • Buy now, think later.

  • +1
    • this alfordson brand be on ebay or smth as well…

ain't no way the rrp is $999 doe. dis shizzle from some factory in china doe aye (tho tbf they all prett much are)

      • ah true

  • I’ve got one for 2 years now. The bolts for the armrest keeps getting undone even after I’ve tighten them. They’re comfy enough to wfh 5 days a week

    • wat about 7 😂

    • For me its the right bolt behind the back near the lumar support that keeps coming loose. Must be from all the reclining I do. Have to tighten it every few weeks. Recently decided to apply some Loctite which seems to fix the issue for now.

  • +1

I bought this and it was the worst chair I've ever sat on. Ending up giving it away after 6 excruciating months and moving to a dining room chair at my desk instead.

    • +1

What part of the chair specifically is it because of? How tall are you?

      • 185cm, could never get comfy on the lower back or the ass of the chair

  • Anyone know if the wheels are changeable to rubber wheels? I have seriously soft floor boards and i would prefer not to use a mat. Previously have bought an ikea one and annoyingly not interchangeable.

  • CBA Yello frequently has MyDeal offers FYI.

    • how does one get cba yello btw…

my cba acc doesn't seem to have access.

is it spend a min amount on da card? cuz i ain't really used my cba acc to buy anything for quite sum time so mayb dats y

      • I forget the amount but its definitely a minimum spend per month

  • Thanks OP. Have been in need of a new chair for a while so took a punt on this one based it's features and the generally positive comments in this and previous threads. Hopefully it turns out to be a decent chair!

  • +1

How does this compare? Just after a better colour. ErgoDuke ErgoLux what's the difference? Seems same as the $249 one

  • Hmm I'm now hesitant with my purchase .. After era reading online it goes bad after a year as things start to fall apart.

  • Crap chair. Come back in a couple of months and read the reviews.

  • +1

I'd personally look at a sihoo m57, last time I check was on a EOFY deal for $319 atm with free express shipping. Reviews are good. My friend has one and ravs about it. This is OzB I brought my chair second hand from marketplace.

  • The Met High Back Office Chair since 2017 and its had solid use, seat fabric starting to go. Price has gone up nearly $200 since. Been a perfect chair for the money for 8+ hrs daily use and I'd just replace with another one.

  • I don't know on the durability because there's comments that it doesn't last long.

  • +1

I have the Ergoduke Jackson and must absolutely insist nobody ever consider it.

  • It looks very similar to the Ergohuman chair at a lot lower pricepoint. How does this Ergoduke compare to the Ergohuman?

  • Mine arrived, assembled, pretty happy, not the best quality in terms of material. A bit wiggly but generally comfortable, worth the price and prefer this one over my Ikea Markus
