DJI Mini 3 with DJI RC Controller $589.57 ($574.83 eBay Plus) Delivered @ Sydney Mobiles eBay

1140
NONFY20PLUSF22

Seems to be the cheapest price going at the moment for the Mini 3 with the DJI RC Controller (has the built in screen - so no phone required).
Purchased to replace my original Mavic Pro (which admittedly hasn't had much use of late).
The built in screen should make it quicker and easier to use, along with the benefit of the sub 250g weight class.

DJI Mini 3 and RC Controller details:

  • Lightweight and Compact: Mini 3 weighs under 249 g. Perfect for taking with you on your adventures, from hikes, road trips, and beach days.

  • Extended Battery Life: With up to 38 minutes of battery life, you can take Mini 3 out at every stop along the way or fly long flights without worrying about the battery.

  • Stunning Imagery: Film in 4K HDR Video for crystal clear aerial shots. Capture details in highlights and shadows, both day and night.
Capture Height, Be Social: With True Vertical Shooting, you can easily capture tall landmarks like skyscrapers and waterfalls. And after capturing, it's in the perfect orientation to post to Instagram or TikTok.

  • Focus on the moment: Epic shots are at your fingertips. Use QuickShots to choose dynamic flight patterns or capture a stunning view with Panorama.

  • Flying is a Breeze: Don't let a little wind get in your way. Mini 3 is resistant to 38kph winds (level 5), so you can stay steady and capture your shot.

Includes the new DJI RC, which has the DJI Fly App pre-installed and a built-in 5.5-inch HD display for crisp viewing even in direct sunlight.

Great price, keen to find a fly more set for under $800

    • Yes, I bought one with Fly More combo (not the Plus batteries because I want to keep the drone under 250g) from Amazon last week for $839. It is replacing my aging Phantom 3 Advanced which cost me nearly $2K.

      • I saw same price on DJI’s own website. Was wondering if it’s a good price.

        • +2

It is a good price, as it is part of DJI's EOFY 30% discount sale.

      • not the Plus batteries because I want to keep the drone under 250g

Nobody is walking around with a clipboard weighing drones. This is from my experience flying basically every other weekend. Always go for the Fly More Combo Plus. Massive quality of life improvement.

        • +1

Sure, but I never want this to be a reason just in case a ranger checking up on me one day. Plus I don't fly 30 minutes with each flight anyway.

          • @edfoo: I believe you aren't allowed to fly a drone in a national park in several states so a ranger won't be an issue. However if he does, just land the drone a kilometre away and tell him you lost it. Use your fine me function on the drone to either locate it or fly it back to you.

            • +1

@khrome: I like your play on words there

              • +1

@Fancydancer: Oh shit. totally unintentional hahaha…but it works.

            • @khrome: Of course I know you are not allowed to fly in most national parks.
As for trying the trick of landing far away when approach by a ranger, it is not always convenient when your drone is over a water or some dense bush. I just want as stress-free flying experience as possible.

              • @edfoo: So if you're not flying in a national park then you won't have problems with a ranger and it doesn't matter if your drone is over 249g.

                • +1

@khrome: Also less restriction when flying closer to airports if your drone is under 250g.

        • Become ungovernable, become unreasonable.

    Thanks, pulled the trigger
Upgraded from the original DJI Mini 1
range and flight time has massively improved

  • +2

Still waiting for Mini 4 Pro to upgrade my Mini 2

    • Still waiting for Mini 4 Pro to upgrade my Mini 2

Waiting for what? I saw one of these in JB for $900. No idea if that's a good price or not, it seemed like a good price but I'm not up with the latest on that.

  • +4

Amazing price given you get the RC (with screen controller)!!

    • +3

agree, while i loved flying my Mini 1 (and my old Mavic Pro 1)
its not very convenient to connect the phone and put into the holder everytime

      • Agreed with my Mini 2 in same situation.

  • Does this one have the tilting gimbal or is that the 4?

    • I believe it does, including the rotating one. Not all the features of the 4, but a good amount.

  • +1

Copped it. Hopefully it arrives within the estimated window so I can claim the GST as I head overseas.

  • -3
    • +4

that controller doesnt have a screen

      • Oh! That's for that!

        • +5

You almost gave me a heart attack

  • Damn, that's a good deal. Has fallen a lot in price.

    • +1

It is part of the EOFY 30% discount from DJI.

  • +25

Great price but this is missing a few key features. Need the Pro model for it.

    • No obstacle avoidance
    • No focus track - can't select yourself in the frame and have the drone follow you around
    • No master shots - automatic aerial photography and post-editing
    • No hyperlapse - can't create timelapse videos
    • +3

Thank you for saving me time from googling the comparsions

    • +4

It also cannot shoot in 4K60, only in 4K30. Max video bitrate of 100Mbps instead of 150Mbps in the 3 Pro. It does not have D-cine colour profile.
But not everyone want or need all the above features. Also Mini 3 Pro has been sold out in most places, DJI no longer list it in their website in Australia. DJI want people just spend more and buy the Mini 4 Pro instead.

    • +1

Thanks for the info, funny how my spark has most of those functions and was 4 generations ago. Still amazing price for a great drone

      • +4

yea, still remember when DJI introduce spark years ago
I believe DJI originally only put these advance features in Mavic Pro series and leave the Mini series to lower price points
but since there are many more countries impose drone flying license the 250g rules become a golden standard of new drones
and DJI put those pro features to Mini Pros

    • I used to have obstacle avoidance and auto-tracking when owning the original Mavic Pro
but moved onto Mini 1 and found that I only fly in open space anyway, so able to live without them
probably a decision of price vs features

    • No focus track

What? This was a feature in the Mavic Pro 1, how is it not standard this many iterations in?

      • obstacle avoidance and tracking have to be go in parallel
otherwise drone will easily get crashed while following object
Mini series is a lower grade tier to Pro series (even Mavic Pro was establish many years ago)

  • How many batteries do you get in the kit?

    • only 1 for this (which can fly max 38mins)
if you get the combo you get 3 and the multi-batteries charger

  • djis are the best. got a mini 3 pro last week and was so happy with it i went and found a mavic 3 on marketplace. amazing drones im hoping for some avata deals soon

    • How much did you get the mini 3 pro for?

      • $708 with 2 years fresh dji care

        • And I am presuming that is without the RC controller(With Screen)? If yes did you already have an RC controller handy?

          • @ninohax: rc controller with screen 4 batterys 1 being the bigger one. pack of 4 pgytech lens filters and a hard case. forgot about my sd cards so and extra $50 for 2x128gb sandisks

            • @bob98: Wow how did you get all of that for $708? That's bloody great value. The Mini 3 pro seems to be OOS on the DJI website now

              • @ninohax: I wonder how many others are waiting to hear where/how he got all that, lol…

We got ALL the info except the critical part (sigh)…

              • +1

@ninohax: $708 for Mini 3 Pro, RC controller and 4 batteries sound dodgy unless it is a private sale of second hand drone.

                • @edfoo: Agreed 👍
With this price can’t even get the mini 3 🫢

  • +3

How about warranty claims if bought from ebay (sydney mobiles)?

    • Even I want to know

    • Appears to be ran by Mobileciti.

I remember back in the days when they were at Church Street, Parramatta, bought a Nokia N95 there.

Never would have thought they will expend into selling drones :D

Though may not be the same people running the business, just trading as.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Got one thru the eBay listing. Decided the tracking and avoidance thing is not really worth me spending 1.5-2x this price on a pro. Especially since my first drone and just want it to record the kids in open space, check solar, and whatever else uses I can find for it (except collecting dust).

    • Same thought. The Pro is just way too expensive compared to this one even though I would have liked collision avoidance because without it Return to Home Feature just wouldn't work well. DJI being the monopoly just prices products as they wish to.

      • it works extremely well for just having front and back sensors. but if your going to pay extra for collision avoidance id be looking at mini 4 pro deals with the 360 avoidance

  • Not really sure if it was the right decision but pulled the trigger. Going to be my first ever drone. Hopefully I won't regret it in the years to come.

    • +1

We in the same boat. I think for a first drone it's more than good enough (if you were contemplating pro version for extra features). Considering most people say it ends up hardly being used lol

      • yea definitely don't want to be spending $1000+ on a thing that I will most likely rarely use.

        • Can definitely happen…

  • Has Remote ID so if you turn it on in the wrong area for 2 seconds police will go to your house and arrest you for it.

    • +1

For someone that doesn't know nothing about drones I'm trying to figure out if you serious or not

  • That's tempting. Considering whether or not to upgrade from my Mini 1.

Should I go for this or is it worth paying more for the 4? They feel so similar.

    • I just decided to buy this to upgrade my Mini 1 Combo
Mini 3 have significant improvement in range than Wifi (in Mini 1)
Signal is also more reliable and stable as OcuSync auto change less congested channels while flying
video quality has also improved quite a lot

The RC screen controller is also great addon compare to using phone for drone control screen

    • Definitely a significant upgrade from Mini 1 to Mini 3. Not so from Mini 2.

  • Have they fixed the "defocused corners" issue with the camera on these?

  • This is a good deal, the controller itself is worth $300.

Probably a good first time drone before deciding further commitments.

Also, under 250g means more places to fly.

  • +1

Thx op, I have a drone. I never use it

    Bought one😭

  • couldnt resist and bought one 😂 i have a mini2 but the controller here is really tempting!

    • +1

received it today! production date is 2024/3

  • +1

Can these carry a payload of an rpg?

    • +1

      1 x Mortar/Grenade only

    • Try carrying a bottle of drink water first…

  • Can we price match with JB?

  • Man, every time! OOS

  • How about battery? It is 2022 drone, more than 2 years old. The battery could degrade in 2 years, no? Or they keep producing it and it is fresh from DJI factory?

    • I don't think the drone, remote controller and batteries were manufactured in 2022 and been sitting on the shelves for past 2 years.

    • chatgpt here to help:

Estimating the exact capacity loss for a DJI Mini 3 drone battery that has been on the shelf for two years without use can be challenging, as it depends on various factors such as storage conditions and initial battery quality. However, based on general knowledge of lithium polymer (LiPo) battery behavior, we can make some educated guesses:

      1. General LiPo Battery Degradation: LiPo batteries typically lose around 3-5% of their capacity per year even when not in use, due to calendar aging. This is under ideal storage conditions (cool, dry place, stored at 50% charge).

      2. Shelf Conditions: If the battery was stored in less-than-ideal conditions (e.g., high temperatures, fully charged, or fully discharged), the capacity loss could be higher. In such cases, the annual capacity loss could be closer to 5-10%.

Considering these points, for a two-year-old battery, the capacity loss could be estimated as follows:
      - Ideal Conditions: Approximately 6-10% capacity loss (3-5% per year).
      - Less-Than-Ideal Conditions: Approximately 10-20% capacity loss (5-10% per year).

So, for a two-year-old DJI Mini 3 drone battery, you might expect a capacity loss in the range of 6-20%, with the lower end of the range representing ideal storage conditions and the higher end representing suboptimal storage conditions.

Received my drone, manufacture date is Mar 2024. Not too bad!

  • back in stock!

  • +1

It looks like they have more stock or people cancelled their orders.

Joined ebay plus for $5/month to get the $15 extra discount.

  • +1

Still waiting for a good Pro deal, I need that tracking

    • Mini 3 Pro is sold out in most places. Mini 4 Pro is current model and more expensive, there have been a few deals earlier this year but nothing outrageous.

    • Maybe they’ll get cheaper if this passes in the USA https://apple.news/AfQdJ_gm6RA-kb7dPoPjD2g

    • If you're looking for the mini 3 pro, here's a good alternative. Great reviews and video quality, on par with the mini 3 Pro if not better.

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/354231756972?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…

      • Not familiar with that Autel model but most people prefer DJI drones not because of the tech but also their software is better than other brands.

  • If I buy a carry case for the Mini 3 Pro, will the Mini 3 fit OK? AliExpress search only seems to give me bags/cases for the Mini 3 Pro.

    • +1

It can but a bit of a tight fit as the regular mini has “legs” on the front propellers that the pro doesn’t

  • Thanks very much OP. Ordered one.

  • Got this and it’s a good kit, but the battery is a joke. Flight time cuts down to 20mins if you actually pilot the drone rather than hovering, definately need at least one spare, or 3 if going on trips.

  • anybody knows of any deal for dji care refresh? keen on getting the 2yr plan =) cheers!

    • +1

No deal on care refresh at the moment. Just pay the DJI standard price.

  • I feel so sad since I own a RC controller already. I need the Mini 3 with more batteries instead of this "screen" controller.
