YouTube Premium Mex$139/Month (A$11.39), Mex$1390/Year (A$113.89), Students Mex$79/Month (A$6.47) - Mexico VPN Required

284

NB: For those not caught yet, YouTube has been cracking down on foreign accounts so most international countries are blocked for new signups, and they are cancelling Premium subscriptions once your current term runs out. And they know exactly what they’re doing because all of the countries with similar high pricing to Australia still allow signups. There seem to be pricing bands.

This is the only region I can find that is a worthwhile amount cheaper than Australia. Nothing like the past, but it’s something.

  1. VPN to Mexico (I used the cheap TorGuard deal).
  2. Navigate to YouTube Premium (https://www.youtube.com/premium) in the browser and sign up.
  3. I don’t know if this is required but for the post code I added an extra zero to the end of my Australia post code (which ends in zero) so it just looked like a typo. I used Revolut.

That simple. No special accounts required.

India sub cancelled this morning. All the neggers saying "get a better VPN" - care to make any suggestions?

  • Russia is about $3-$4 a month. Been on it for years.

Indian sub renewed yesterday - still about $2 a month

    • +1

We are the few apparently, still renewing for me as well.

  • i have been cought and they requested to update my payment or it will be cancelled probably 7 times, everytime i just ignore the email and message and they take the money and shut up. last time was 2 days ago. i am still on indian membership for the last 3 years. and still solid!!!

    • It’s different this time mate they just tell you to pay as per your country rates or you just won’t have more premium

      • since when? because as i said, i have just renewed my payment on indian rates 2 days ago.16th until 16th of July.

i recieved an email saying you must update payment details or you'll lose premium, and i am getting it every now and then, i simply ignore it and it keeps going. they deducted 3.43$, just checked.

Since this morning, lots of people woke up with an email from YouTube saying so.

        • +1

This is the mail you get:

Your YouTube Premium membership was canceled because we believe the signup country of Philippines was inaccurate.

If you want to maintain access, please sign up for YouTube Premium again within the next few weeks, otherwise your YouTube Premium benefits will end on July 3, 2024 and your plan will not renew automatically.

          • @Emilimu: Oh okay,

i didnt get it luckily. still running okay for now. lets see how long

      • Probably a dodgy VPN, I was billed yesterday.

        • I used a vpn when I registered over a year ago and never needed it again so it’s not that

  • I am still on Argentina, but the family plan jumped from less than $3 last month to ~$6.50 this month

    • My single plan doubled this month also. I'm still happy to pay it though if it means it stays active.

  • Just subbed to Pakistan on ios safari. 1 month . 2.49 aus roughly. Proton vpn pakistan. yes paid vpn so the ip is less crowded. Revolut card. Pakistan address. aus google account.

    Source?

    • Had my Pakistan subscription cancelled this morning.

    • Signed up Pakistan from last deal. Just received cancellation email today from Google.

"Your YouTube Premium membership was cancelled because we believe that the sign-up country of Pakistan was inaccurate. "

  • Got kicked out of Argentina and now my account needs KYC and verification. No other country works.
    all asks for verification.

i use Brave Browser and it prevents youtube adds.

I've been on Argentina for a couple years now.
The peso has been dropping in conversion price compared to AU, and YouTube are obviously feeling it in lost revenue.

    For YouTube Premium:
Most of 2023 was 699 peso ($3-4AU) per month. July 23 converted to $4, and by November 23 it converted to $3!
December 23 price went up to 1569 peso (but still only converted to $2.70AU) per month. Massive drop in conversion price again!
Now in June 24 jumped to 3699 peso ($6.22AU) per month.
By current trend 3699 peso may very well convert to $5 or less by Christmas. The peso/AU currency conversion charts don't look great for Argentina at all. But the thing will be when/if that ever changes. If the peso starts going up in value to where it was even 2-3 years ago, AU conversion price will be off the charts!!!

So they are definitely cluing into the VPN crowd, and will probably test the waters on how much they can gouge us until we leave entirely.

At the moment still much cheaper than local pricing so will carry on for time being. What is it, $33 a month or something now? Stuff that!

I reckon I'd be happy for the whole family to be covered for under $10 a month… but any more than that and they can go get stuffed.
I'll stick with Argentina as long as they allow it. Their currency isn't likely to rebound in the short term, so there's an automatic 'anti-inflation' price protection mechanism built in.
If you can double and triple the price in peso's, and still not affect AU pricing that much, I think we are doing fine :).

  • I’m on the plan in India. Would changing my region to India in the settings help me from being thrown off?

    • My payment country is India. So the play store comes up as it would in India. Been like that since March 2019.

  • Hi all, do you know the answer about you travel to overseas and signed Youtube Premium overseas for a cheaper price and use it in Australia? Is this possible or Youtube is locked by a different region? Thanks

    • You can, but sometimes the problem is that they want you to use a card ISSUED by banks from that country (which is how I lost India membership last year). But then I signed up Sri Lanka membership AUD3.10/month with same AU card no problem so far.

      • Thanks for letting me know. I will try next time.

Still on my Indian YouTube family account for over 6 years now
    Hopefully Google doesn’t catch up

    Same with Spotify Indian account

    Both on ING bank

This is the best ozbargin deal ever for me

    • Would make sure your google payment account is in India.

  • Subscription services are all due for a rude shock soon enough.

I pay 57.99 TRY (turkish liras) or $2.68 AUD Per month! lol. its linked to my revolut card and has no problems. Turkey is still King for youtube premium.

  • It never works for me - Mexico, Pakistan, Indonesia, Argentina, etc
Proton VPN, tried CBA card and Revolut Standard. Also tried disconnecting from VPN before payment as some people suggested and using a Pakistani address on the card when adding it to Google. It complains every time with:
Transaction declined. This purchase requires a payment method from your billing country. [OR_RECR_05]

Any tips are appreciated. Maybe it's just a blanket ban on new signups as far as cards are concerned.

  • Highly doubt anyone will sign back up at Australian prices. Their loss, i'll just turn on my router's adblock once my premium is cancelled

  • I’ve successfully switched to Bangladesh which charges 239BDT / 3.05AUD per month. Argentina, India, Ukraine, Pakistan etc. were all blocked for my account

    • What vpn are you using? Whatever I use it wants to charge me Hong Kong dollars

      • using nordvpn at the moment

        • Still working for you?

The good times might be coming to an end
    https://www.theverge.com/2024/6/20/24182686/youtube-premium-…

    • i saw this very interesting

  • No email yet, touch wood.
I did receive an email the other day offering me a 3 month trial for premium which I thought was weird considering I had it already.

Vietnam worked for me today for 4.91aud

  • How do I check what country my YouTube Premium is from as I can't remember where I subscribed from?

  • Payment for my Turkish subscription was cancelled a few days ago (CBA card).
I was able to renew it by simply switching to a Westpac card.

  • -1

Bah…I was on the cheap South African Rand!
Renewed using the same card, using the same Google account via Taiwan.
It's cheaper than the Mexican one stated and still half the price of AUD.

I am with an Aus bank with no FX fees and uses the mid market exchange rate (Up!, Macquarie also use no FX fees and uses the mid market exchange rate)

Used Tunnelbear VPN (one of the more reputable free VPNs) for both.
We'll see how long this goes for.

    • TunnelBear doesn’t have Vietnam

      • -1

South Africa is AU $1 more anyway.

        • I get we couldn’t verify your country

  • Can confirm I did this and it worked, did the year as I can be ass'ed doing this again, saves some kind of money off the full price of AUD

    • Taiwan is cheaper than Mexico as per my post.

  • I was able to sign up via Chili for CLP 5,500 (~$8.50)

    • Chile didn't work for me :(
South Africa seemed to work, but didn't accept my card and keeps saying it wants a local card. Tried turning off VPN just before pressing Pay, didn't help :(

    • +1

Cheers, this was the cheapest option , everything else was $7.19 USD which is about $11 AUD

  • Two days ago my Pakistan family membership got billed again at $4.82 AUD via my Macquarie bank card. I know a lot of people have not been able to get Pakistan to work. I am at 7 months now. Not sure how long i have left since Google is cracking down on these signups.

    • My Pakistan subscription was cancelled. A friend's continues still. Seems to be random

  • SmartTube has stopped working

  • Thanks, worked first go - used Mullvad VPN and Revolut virtual card

  • My Ukraine sub finally died - tried to reactivated with multiple cards, digital cards, gift cards lol, nothing gets passed the location blocks for account payment.

  • I was using India fore premium (Annual one), and last time it has asked to used credit card from the country of origin.
This time, I tried to open premium using nordVPN for various countries but google always gave country can not be found. I tried Pakistan, India, Ukrain, Vietnam, Phillipines, Turkey, Argentina etc etc. Only Thailand, Bangladesh and Mexico opened. Out of those, I tried to pay for Thailand Annual or BD monthly, both required payment method belonging from the country.

In the end, I sucked up and used Mexico, paid 116 AUD for single user for annual subs. Its a big jump from ~25 AUD (india) to 116 AUD :(

    • Same :(

    • Haven't seen any ozb users had their accounts banned. Neither for me, and I've had years and years of YT premium from various different countries

  • Just got kicked off my Pakistan subscription

  • +2

    Turkey just booted me off.

    • +1

      Me too

    • +1

      Likewise!

Your YouTube Premium membership was canceled because we believe the signup country of Turkey was inaccurate.

If you want to maintain access, please sign up for You Tube Premium again within the next few weeks, otherwise your YouTube Premium benefits will end on Aug 17, 2024 and your plan will not renew automatically.

      It was a good run.

  • I'm getting this "Transaction declined. This purchase requires a payment method from your billing country. [OR_RECR_05]" error for a few different cards - I've googled the issues but can't find any fixes - anybody have any ideas?

  • just got booted from Ukraine account.

i'm reading here Bangladesh and Vietnam.
will try them both and see how this goes.

should I still use the same account that got booted from Ukraine or better to use a new one?

    • +1

I'm still good on Ukraine. Payment was taken last week. Fingers crossed…

      • i'm still actually ok until 20August2024 according to their email as they have taken payment as well.
maybe i should just try to see how it goes from 21st onwards.

i might still try to make a new one for Bangladesh or Vietnam if this goes sideways.

        • +3

What's funny is I was happily paying $12 for years, but they upped it to $18 so I moved to this method and pay $4. If they take this away, I'll move to an adblocker and not pay them a cent.

    • I was on Vietnam. Got cancelled today 😞.

  • Im in bali and got the cancellation, tried to re-sign using hotel wifi and couldnt complete unfortunately.

    :(

  • Tried about 10 countries, one of the only ones working was Belarus which is $7.19 USD a month which I'm not paying

Every other one doesn't allow a payment if the card isn't from that country

  • Got Chile to work, 5,500 chile pesos to $8.80 AUD.

Still expensive but cheaper than paying $13.99 normally

  • What if payment card expires, can we update payment or even that won't work now ?

    • It works but then they might just cancel your premium membership anyway

  • What vpn services are working for this ?

    • +1

Urbanvpn , it’s a free app for google chrome

  • I got the cancelled email yesterday and have tried many different countries trying to pay with Wise card but was declined stating needing to use a card from that country. Only country i could sign up with was Chile and works out around $8.87aud which is cheaper then our rates. If kicked out again wont be signing up under rip off Aussie rates

    • Same here. Chile is the cheapest

      • Just used Chile to re-subscribe to mine combined with Wise virtual card. Was using Argentina base prior to getting my marching orders. Let's see if this lasts…

    YT finally got me.
I no longer live in Indonesia to them.

They dont want my money so its ad blocker time

    • +1

Got me too. Lost my virtual Turkey resident identity since 2020.

  • Is there anyway for me to check what country I signed up with?

  • Got the email today for YT Premium Pakistan.

  • Lost my Indian sub yesterday. ;\

  • +1

For those that use YT primarily on their TV (via Android) and want a free alternative to premium, check out SmartTube.

  • Lost my indian yesterday day, it was a good 4 years.

Revanced seems good, but casting has adds, which makes sense but I watch YouTube on my tv more than my mobile. I don't think I can install smarttube on my tv. Anyone know a workaround?

  • My Pakistan family membership was charged last night of $4.96 AUD to my Macquarie bank account. So far no email yet about the cancellation but since many of you guys are getting cancelled from Pakistan membership I suspect mine won't be far behind.

  • +1

I’m still going strong on my India sub. My only issue is my 28 Degrees card. Need to find another card that will work.

    • do you know how to change the credit card with YTpremium. I am now from INdia. Will they allow change to Australian credit card?
Can you or anyone give me a step by step instruction? Thank you

      • You need to sign into payments.google.com

Make sure you sign in with the Google account you’re using YT premium with

        • thank you. Do you need to use VPN? my PIA VPN has increased price so looking for a new VPN.

  • +2

I got an email this morning, I am losing my Turkey account access, I have had it for years, hopefully I can get one of these other countries to work.

    • I've given up on these cheap Youtube deals.
Have installed SmartTube on my Android TV devices and YouTube ReVanced on my Samsung phone.

      • I will give SmartTube a shot on my nVidia Shield, but 90% of my YT usage is on my iPhone.

  • Just got this to work, NordVPN MacBook Chrome normal mode, paid with Latitude 28 degree for 1 year

    • Did you use your old account or make an entirely new one?

I'm trying to figure out whether existing compromised accounts are being individually flagged, and thus whether it's worth keeping the ruse alive via an entirely new gmail that's created and signed up to YT in another country.

  • My long running turkish membership got cancelled.

Signed up with Pakistan and got booted in 2 hours as it was trial (i used new account)

Now i have signed up on old account using mexican vpn - lets see how it goes. paid 10.91$
