Bought this in the morning. It was worth joining ebay plus ($5 a month) just for this purchase.
Note that they have an open box card on their website for slightly less at $799: https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/open-box-sale-pny-gef…

      So
      Smarthomestoreau = Shopping Express ?
      TIL

      • Is Smarthomestoreau = Shopping Express ?

      • That's what people say here. Also one of "related stores" under this post refers to the shopping express page.

    • +2

I finally pulled the plug on the $799 open box. goodbye 1660super, you served me well.
Goodbye Ozbargain pc component section. (i dont want to see any deals for a while)

      • Wait, there is an Ozbargain pc component section? How do I get to it?

        @mamado

      • I been using it for few days now. nice and compact. fans noise is not loud but it is annoying. don't know how to explain it but normally fan had a higher pitch sound. But with a headset on or increasing the speakers volume a bit you wont hear it. keep in mind that this is as basic as a 4070 super can get. while some 4070super and be OC to 2700mhz, this one was stable up to 2600mhz. for $800 i have zero complaints and hope to keep this for few years.
As for an open box purchase, everything looked like new. there was no seal on the box and i think these come with a 12pin connector adapter, however there was none in the box

  • Worth it over the 3080?

    • -1

      Nah

    • +9

100%. I wouldn’t upgrade from a 3080 to this but if it’s a choice between then two then this would win.

    • +1

Absolutely. Mine runs almost silent and uses way less power/puts out less heat than even my old 3070 which was the noisiest and hottest card I've ever owned.

      • +1

So quiet and cool. Gave me enough head room to max out my am4 CPU without upgrading cooling or psu

    • +1

Same boat, the performance is very close.

You're paying for DLSS 3 support, better power efficiency and some extra ram.

      That's about it.

I think waiting for either 4080's to drop considerably in price or rtx 5000 to release would be the better choice

  • Still deliberating between this 4070 Super and a Gigabyte RTX 4070 Ti Super Windforce for $1180. $339 difference for minor perfomance upgrade + 4GB additional VRAM.

    • +1

Get the TI I was in same boat but the TI kicks ass.

    • +1

I'm stuck on this item too…. But my main requirement is for VR. So considering 4070s, 4070ti and 4070ti S.

      • +3

Yeah I'm trying to work with AI models & image generation and the extra VRAM would help but $339 seems like a lot.

        • It's awkward because the price difference between Ti and Ti S are like $50, so almost no reason to not get Ti S if not choosing the S.

    • From what I gather and looking at these charts - https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html

It seems that the 4070S had the biggest improvements over previous cards. I myself have a 3070 and want to upgrade but knowing that the 50 series is coming soon™ I don't know if I'll upgrade yet.

It depends on what you're coming from and whether you can shell that extra cash out. The 4080S seems to be the better option moving up in my opinion.

      • I'm in the exact same boat. My 3070 is still chugging along and honestly it's fine for most things, but not being able to run a few of the newer releases at high-max quality niggles at me a little.

I'll probably wait it out and see what kind of asking prices the 5000 series starts at, but I doubt it'll be anything reasonable.

        • Agreed and I understand what you mean with the newer titles.

No doubt they'll be steep prices on release.

If anything, hopefully the 50 series pushes the 40 series price down.

        • You have to get off of 8gb as quick as you can. Especially if you have a monitor over 1440p or better

    • 4070super worth it not worth the extra bucks for such a small perf gap 4070s vs 4070ti if you have the budget got for ti super but then may aswell get 4080 either 4080 or 4070s

Nvidia is walking you up the ladder (in your own mental pricing justification) to eventually getting a 4080 or 4090

Apple also does this too with their pricing structure for their iDevices and Macbooks..

Get the best card you can buy and have peace of mind

        FACT / REALITY Check

You will never have peace of mind if you are frequent ozbargainer..

You will either regret not waiting (when a better deal appears) after you just bought the item (from a deal that you saw here)
        OR
You will regret not buying the deal (when posted on ozbargain) because you thought there might be a better deal that will appear.

    • I choose this card because it was nice and small for myini itx build. Ti with 4gb extra might be worth it if you have the case space

This or the RX 7900 GRE for $830? Have one on back order that I can cancel.

Coming from a GTX 980 for 1440p gaming.

    • +2

7900 GRE slightly faster raw performance and 4gb more VRAM. 4070 S got DLSS 3, better RT performance, less energy consumption. 4070 S looks better if price is similar and if 12Gb VRAM is good enough for next 3-4 years. Who knows how much VRAM games needed in 3-4 years? It's gambling, I couldn't say which one is better right now, may be in 3-4 years.

      RT https://tpucdn.com/review/powercolor-radeon-rx-7900-gre-hell…

    • Where you getting the gre for $830 from?

I have a quote for $795 from scorptech if you're keen.

      • My bad, it’s $819 from Scorptec. Didn’t manage to get a quote when it was $795, how does it work?

        • +1

Oh, you add to cart, go to checkout, ask for a quote. They email you. That quote it valid till they say it is.

So I asked for a quote when it was sub $800 and it's good for me until the 26/6.

I then just bought it outright, not using the quote, straight from the basket, didn't want to wait anymore. So the quote is still with me.

Are you in Sydney /Newcastle /NSW?

        • This was the
XFX Qicksilver Radeon RX 7900 GRE MagAir Gaming White Edition, 16GB
But i still haven't received it. Someone else on the original thread received his. I'll message him to find out how it is.

  • +1

Upon closer inspection of the eBay listing, I noticed that the power supply has 8 pins, similar to the 4070 model. However, on the PNY website, the 4070 Super power supply is listed as having 12 pins. This discrepancy is causing confusion.

    • +1

      It's 12 with an adaptor

  • a bit off topic but did anyone tried Geforce now?

    • +3

Yes. Its pretty good. Esp. for games that dont require super low ping, shooters etc.

    • +1

I was part of the beta and gotta say was blown away. If I recall correctly they have a data centre here in Perth (possibly Malaga?) and really couldn't pick up many moments of lag even playing Apex Legends online was still able to compete. Would obviously be even better for single player gaming. In comparison with Xbox Cloud Gaming where it I'm guessing their data centre's are their normal servers over in the East with nothing but laggy moments.

    • +2

The better/bigger monitor you have, the shittier image you get comparing to the native rendering (video compression is very noticeable). And their threadripper CPUs are not the best for the 4080 rigs, they can't unlock 4080s full potential. That was the case at least in Cyberpunk where I tested this.

  • Cheap! I got my 4070ti like 1.2k few months ago

    • -2

RIP. Even a few months ago there were $1050 deals on 4070ti

      • Nah my 4070ti was already on deal since super variants was released

          • @ozdog64: Cool find but I guess I miss that January deal but looking at the comments, looks like 4070ti at 900$ seems like an amazon price error…

          • @ozdog64: Anyway I've already my choice and been happy with my asus tuf oc for months now hahaha…

Good thing I didn't buy that Amazon January deal though, else I will be getting 4060ti lol

            • -1

@lagur: 1050 AUD 4070Tis were really common at the time of your purchase.

For slightly more than 1.2k you could've gotten a 4070 Ti SUPER 😎

Heck, there were $1199 4070 Ti SUPER in early March!

              • @ozdog64: I was already looking around Dec/Jan as my xmas present for myself… and I know I bought mine already cheap that time.

I have gpu notifications ever since I wanted to buy in December so I'm aware of the prices.

But like I said I don't regret waiting for a cheaper but not enjoy games for 3 months.

  • Both PNY and Shopping Express have terrible reviews for dealing with warranty.
    Does anyone have first-hand experience?

    • they seem to be doing ok on their ebay store though with 99.8% positive Feedback 30K items sold so maybe ebay keeps them good when it comes to customer support

      • +7

ebay keeps them good when it comes to customer support

        in regards to eBay

eBay tends to side with customer complaints more than the sellers..
so big sellers less likely to be able to screw over customers than on their own website or store.

After 60 days or when you need to do a warranty claim (after paypal 180 days buyer protection)
then we don't know how well they handle warranty since it is now between the buyer and the seller
because ebay and paypal can wipe their hands clean and say this is now a warranty issue.

  • Paid $1400 for my Asus RTX4070TI 12GB last year.
Now they have Supers with 16GB RAM for the same price
    Thanks Nvidia
