i was hunting around around for a 512GB Micro SD Card for my switch and noticed the Lexar play is $44.05 at the moment. i have heard good reviews about the card, only downside i heard is, the write/speed can be slow.

It's a generic one. If you want to buy a no-brand MicroSD card, just purchase one of Ali Express.
Looks like we should only target 512gb for around $45, then will be a good deal.

I had the 1 gb version of this. It was the size it was supposed to be, but incredibly slow.
After all the slow speeds I had with SanDisk and Lexar back in the day, I only buy Samsung for flash storage.
