Thanks OP, I had no idea ones existed with a glass pot. I was tempted to purchase the all in one microwave but that was a bit more expensive
https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/breville-32l-1200w-the-combi-…Wouldn't it be hard to clean after first burnt food?
Glass just make the stain more apparent.
But easier to clean.
You are just deceiving the eye
@CptnObvious: How?
@pizzaguy: Glass or metal the stains/teflon are always there. It's just more apparent on the clear glass.
If anything, you can use scrubber on glass to clean better.
@CptnObvious: Yeah, that's the whole point in these threads about cleaning - it is easier to clean glass. But you're saying it's "just deceiving the eye", so I was curious.
All good!
Reviews say it's easy to clean.
It's easier to clean glass, scrubbing or with chemicals, than all those fragile teflon-coated metal baskets, inserts.
I have a "normal" air fryer (one of the first Philips, rotary dial, nothing digital), and a cheap table top convection oven which is essentially a large glass bowl body - kind of the same concept. I use both around the same amount, and from a few years experience, I can tell you now that a glass bowl is a heap easier to clean and keep clean than all the nooks and crannies of the air fryer. By far. All you need to do is take a look at the two side by side to see the difference.
Just bought one for about $50 (45% cashback) last week, replacing a Phillips one that was about $400.
For $50, it's amazing. Easier to clean, cooks just as well (we only do simple stuff), doesn't seem to splatter as much onto the heating element, and glass makes it really easy to see what's going on. Build quality is fine. If it dies in a year just get another.
I really hesitated not going for a "proper" big brand, but now I'm sold.
Which site was the 45% CB for?
My deal. It was 30% base + 15% StG bonus during Shopback birthday
Mmmm….. One thing that makes air fryers so fast (and this is by design) is the low thermal mass of the oven's cooking surfaces, usually thin sheet steel or aluminium. Using glass is the very antithesis of this approach.
True, but what actually makes it fast is the power of a big oven in a much smaller heating piece that's in front of a fan. And this still has it.
Glass must be so, so much easier to clean that all those intricated metal parts. And the air is still forced to go around, unless you stuff the basket entirely from the top.
We got a very similar airfryer from costco, brand is “Couzinni.” We like it more than the Philips one mainly because of the ease of cleaning.
We just cook simple fried food, like fries, springroll, nuggets or precooked fried chicken. We also use it to heat up bread and leftover fried food. Nothing complicated.
We don’t really notice any impact on the cooking speed, I guess cause we don’t really watch it while it cooks, just wait for timer. I think we can just increase the cooking temperature if we are starving. :-)
One negative of the basket being glass, is that it’s heavy so we couldn’t shake the food(eg fries) using it; Need to use tongs.
Thanks @Edutan for the review. Good to know about the weight. Wouldn't have thought about that.
is that it’s heavy so we couldn’t shake the food(eg fries) using it; Need to use tongs
As in - it's going to break the handle if you shake it?
Ive cleaned my oven door. I know how dirty glass can get…
This is one of the few Air Fryers that does not use non-stick materials, which many people have concerns about due to potential toxicity issues (despite marketing copy claiming otherwise). However, some reviewers state that the glass basket breaks easily, and buying a replacement is impossible.
The Couzzini one came with a silicon mat, this is where glass basket should be placed when it's hot, i guess it avoids thermal shock. We permanently placed the mat on the counterspace in front of the airfryer; so it’s like a “landing” for the glass basket.
Is this better than the kmart one? I've had my kmart airfryer for 3yrs now and I plan to chuck it and get a new one
One review says: This is the perfect airfryer if u are looking for a non-toxic one! Makes crispy chips and so easy to clean!
Looking at the design - does this need a trivet to stop the food sitting on the bottom of the tray?
If you need the airflow under the food, as it is usually like in airfryers, then you need that included griddle (or a trivet).
If you don't need it to flow under the food, then you can place it directly on the glass.
