In that kind of money you can easily get 2 channel setup, maybe powered speaker and a subwoofer

It amazes me how much people will pay for fundamentally gimped speaker designs.

This thing doesn't even come with a separate sub, yet Sennheiser claims that this Snickers bar of a sound system will go down to 30Hz, when the "six woofers" look like they are 2 inches across.

This is like claiming that six toddlers on tricycles dragging a shopping trolley is similar to a V6 engine.

      • Have you demo it for yourself ?

I see you've never owned an AlloyTec powered commodore.

      • Seems like the best option if you are unable/not willing to get a sub or rears. You can also add a wired sub to this if want.

    Sonos arc tho

    • Doesn't come close.

      • why?

The Arc by itself is pretty average, the Beam Gen2 is considered to be superior and the better choice if you want Sonos. I've owned the Arc for a few years now and when it's by itself it's ordinary, nothing special. It's only when you add at least a Sub that it starts to shine. But as you expand it can get expensive fast.

          Compare that to the Ambeo Max which gives you 90% of the surround setup with just a bar, if you get a chance to listen to them both at a shop do it and you'll notice just how much more impressive the Ambeo Max is as a bar. Good review below from the Sound Guys;

          • @playaz91: Yeah, I kind regret buying the Arc. The noises made by the media or bloggers in the beginning were in my opinion BIASED to get people excited just because they most likely get to keep the item for free. Agree that Beam Gen2 is as good for half the price, despite not having as much power. Only to find out almost 3 years later.

            • @craving: Google's LLM is being trained on reddit data at the moment. Very soon it will be close to impossible to find real information when advertisers start using it

            • @craving: Not sure about biased as it is a good bar but yeah much like you I do regret buying it now, the Beam Gen2 came out about 12 months after the Arc which made me wonder if I'd bought the wrong one especially after hearing it and personally not seeing much of a difference.

          • @playaz91: I have both of them except Sonos with Sub & Sennheiser without a sub, ( but i paid much more than this price though), While both the Sonos Arc with Sub and the Sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar offer exceptional performance, the Sonos Arc with Sub provides a more comprehensive solution for those looking for a high-quality, immersive audio experience with the added benefits of a user-friendly ecosystem and flexible multi-room audio capabilities, which I really enjoy. The Sonos Arc’s sleek design, superior integration with other devices, and effective room tuning make it a compelling choice for me. The additional subwoofer enhances the overall sound performance, making it a well-rounded choice for both movies and music. I am not bias as I own both, & i love both of them, but I dont see any drastic difference.

            • @chutibuti: You're completely right about the multi room niceties, and the ecosystem is much more mature compared to what Sennheiser has. However I'd still say without the Sub this is the superior soundbar, so if you don't want to spend the extra get this.

          • @playaz91: Feels I am still doing well by keeping the playbar + sub + 2 ikea synfonnisk as surround then

            • @siuol: Yeah the playbar still goes good; Atmos is really the only thing you're missing audio wise.

Great price. Bought second hand for $1600 year or two back. Best upfiring Atmos drivers I've heard. Certainly in an AIO.

    990D , end of story?

    • If you have room for subs and rears probably

  • At $1799 you aren't gonna get a better soundbar. I've done a head to head comparison in my living room between the Sonos Arc and the Ambeo and the Ambeo shits all over the Arc in terms of sound quality. I have proper studio monitors in my study (Kali LP-8 V2) and Krix floorstanders in my home cinema and the Ambeo manages to sound very close to these. You get bugger all "surround" effects, but as far as a good looking, easy to use LCR setup that can just go under a TV, the Amebo is what I'd go with at this price (but not at $2000+).
