  • Anyone know if this can be applied on top of ceramic coating to extend the life of the coating?

    • Yes. It can be used as a topper over existing sealants and coatings.

      • +1

Thanks! Any suggestions on which shampoo to wash it with during my regular wash?

        • +3

Use any pH neutral shampoo, personally I’m currently using the Meguiars Gold Class

          • +4

@shockme79: Gold Class leaves stuff behind due to the conditioners - great shampoo but defeats purpose if you’re going to IPA wipe before applying a sealant. The bond is compromised if sealing immediately after washing. Get PH neutral that leaves nothing behind on the surface like Carpro Reset or Gyeon Bathe or Autoglym HD. Many of the Meguiars have polymers for shine etc

Dude. Do yourself a favour and get Turtle wax hybrid solutions slick n slide pure wash (I know it's a mouthful). When it's on special at Supercheap for $28-30, it's the best value shampoo. Smells great, highly concentrated so you save product and foams really well in the bucket or foam canon. You can also use it as a clay lube to decontaminate your car before using this turtle way ceramic spray. It'll make the ceramic spray last longer. So if you get a clay mit and use the pure wash to rub down the car, then apply 2 coats of the ceramic spray, you'll get 6-12 months of good protection.

But personally, I just do a normal contact wash with the turtle wax pure wash, then apply Gyeon Wet Coat with an easy spray and rinse. Takes less than 10 mins to spray and wash down the whole car with the Gyeon Wet Coat. Reapply Wet Coat every 3/4 months and your laughing. Easiest way to ceramic coat the car.

  • I have Bowden lazy wax, can this be another layer outside?

    • +2

Applying ceramic coating over wax is not recommended because the wax prevents proper adhesion; instead, use an isopropyl alcohol to remove the wax before applying a ceramic coat

      • I still have a near full bottle :-( probs will just continue to do the wax

        • You could possibly apply the wax on top after a day.

          • @brb223: Ah, so ceramic first then wax after ?

            Thanks

            • @lieh: Ceramic solutions has hydrophobic properties in which wax can deminish but after a day, it will be somewhat cured. Regardless to this product is supported with wash and wax,

            • +1

@lieh: no, just use one or the other.

            • +1

@lieh: Never do this. Firstly, the spray coating isn't a property ceramic coating. Seriously, don't apply a wax into a ceramic/graphene coating.

  • hmmm… any suggestions on what else I can buy to get free international shipping

  • +2

According to this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYxKQwZah1s it's one of the best spray coatings on the market

  • It is a great product. Just don't expect it to last as long as a normal ceramic coat.

Ideally, you'd layer this with something else, a sealant, like Happy ending, to make it last longer.

  • +1

Could I use this on the inside of the front window? For some reason it gets a sticky look that makes other cars light look foggy and lowers visibility.
    Any tips appreciated.

    • I tried something similar and it seemed to make it worse, like the condensation sat on top of the coating.

    • Is there a haze or layer of something on the inside that needs to be wiped off?

    • +2

No need for any chemicals for the inside.

Just dish soap + Glass cleaner. The hot sun causes chemical reactions with the plastics inside which rise, then get absorbed by the glass.

Check out these vids from Chris and Pan.

    • Watched this one last week, might help: WilsonAutoDetailing

    • Just use a cotton cloth with a bit of water for the inside.
Normally this happens if you have applied some sort of protective coating or cleaner on the interior and it has evaporated onto the windscreen.

  • Bought before you post the deal. An excellent product.

  • +7

I have been using this for a while. Excellent on paint and wheels, but I don't recommend it on glass. It says it's "safe" for glass, but I have found it problematic. It leaves residue that smears and causes issues, and it's not easy to remove from the glass. Best to use a spray wax or rain-x on glass.

    • +2

      rain-x on glass.

If you use Rain-X on glass, then something like Bosch Windscreen Washer fluid or Trico Windscreen Washer additive will interfere with that Rain-X .

      • +6

Bosch will strip anything. It's a harsh additive that you should never use. It'll destroy any coating, you're wiper blades, paint, etc.

Trico is fine. It should work with Rain-x with no issue. But you also don't need to use it. It's mainly marketing buzz. Buy the cheaper, more effective stuff.

        • +1

          Trico is fine.

I have only ever used Trico.

I bought the big 5L bottle, and it's still going after 2 years :-)

        • +1

Thanks for letting me know. I have little bottles that came with my wiper blades. I will use the Bug Off instead.

  • +3

    Do they contain PFAS?

  • +3

How does this compare to Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Wax?
Sparesbox on Ebay has it on sale for $27.46 for plus members https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/166499066929

    • +1

TurtleWax Hybrid Solutions is better and lasts longer. If not mistaken another products that’s even better in the same price point is Bowden Own’s Bead Machine. There is utuber that did weekly testing on all these.

  • Thank you, have been using this after watching the Project Farm video and it has been working beautifully.

  • I’ve got a silly question. I moved to a house from apartment where we had a car wash bay.
In front of our house there’s a car space but I’ve seen none of my neighbours wash their car in front of their garage as water and foam will run.

    1) Is it illegal in Sydney to wash cars if there are no dedicated bay?
    2) Taking my car to a Wash is getting expensive. How do I do a quick wash or how do I use this spray?
I’ve took my car to star wash and whatever not it’s so badly cleaned. I have washing products yet I can’t use them living in a suburban house

    • Weird question. You have a stand-alone house, so of course you can wash your car in your own place, you can wash it in the street, driveway, anywhere basically. Who cares what the neighbours do/don't do?

      • +3

Not that weird. Some states have water restrictions about washing cars in driveways.

      • +1

It’s weird question cause all that foam after cleaning the car it would spill all over the street.
My question is it that legal? The only reason I’m asking this cause if my neighbours come running with a complaint I can refer them to an official website.

      • +1

Actually its technically illegal, only stormwater is supposed to go down drain but they cannot regulate it, plus pressure cleaner guys are dumping pool clorine down drains so I wouldn't worry

        • +5

I don't understand the neg for my comment, it is fact, I am a car detailer, i know a sydney car detailer that got fined close to 10k for this

Also this is a great sealant, bowdens bead machine does work a bit longer but for price this wins

Don't leave the bottle in the sun and don't buy in bulk because after about a year it can start to cause streaking and really hard to buff off

I try to be helpful and get neg..

          • @BenTheBargainer2013: Any thoughts on Mothers CMX Ceramic and NuFinish car polish? TIA

            • @x d: Mothers Ceramic is just as good, it won't last as long but i would be reapplying in 2-3 months anyway

Nufinish I would skip, hand polish is never a good idea

Personally I think getting a detailer to polish it and and just get a sealant instead of ceramic coating to save hundreds

You can also polish yourself but the costs add up - DA polisher, scholl s20 black polish, masking tape (to mask rubber trim), polishing pads (lake country orange pads my preference), buffing microfibres, isopropyl alcohol or flash prep)

By the time you buy all that you will have spent quite a bit

I charge around $400-$450 for a thorough 1 step polish and sealant but I use a $700+ dollar Flex gear driven polisher

I also find the website "Waxit" to be amazing for detailing products and if you msg them with any questions they will help you with anything

              Hope that helps

    • Wouldn't you be best off calling your local council or somewhere like sydneywater?

    • +3

      1) - no such rule. Having the bay is just convenient
      2) - Two bucket method. ChrisFixIt and Pan on youtube have great videos on this. You still need a wash, dry, then apply this product.

At home, you can do your driveway, the road, etc. Just don't spray it on other cars, or pedestrians. Stay out of the sun. Mobile detailers wash on the road all the time.

      • Thank you guys. I was scared to wash my car and now I will start washing my car .. finally.

Is meguiar’s ceramic wax the best for after wash spray?

        • +1

Anything from the top brands will do.

Just bear in mind that they don't last long. 3 months if sealed well, and garaged.

  • The flex wax they have is much better than this

    • 2 different products

      • Can you use both?

  • Anytime recommend a waterless cleaner?

    • +1

i never recommend a waterless cleaner, ymmv

    • +1

Definitely not recommended as any particles on the paint will scratch it when you wipe the waterless cleaner off.

  • Can someone suggest a clay bar or similar to compliment this, cheers

    • +1

any is fine, just make sure you lubricate when using.

  • Does this supercede wax?

    • not really, it just protects it and makes it hydrophobic. wax will shine it

  • Can you use this on caravans

  • Is there a guide for size of car to how many bottles you need?
    Thanks

    • +1

This will last a lot of cleans

    • This should do 4 large Suva twice.

  • Is it just me is showing $32

    • Not just you, I'm also getting $32 :(

  • $32 but still AU$24.38 with this link i just used.

    Mothers CMX Ceramic heaps better

    • Heaps more exxy.

      • +1

But much easier to apply and much better results. Just wait until it’s on special :)

        • +1

Mothers CMX Ceramic Spray Coating - 710mL on amazons is also on special at $32.73. A bit more but also 710 mLs vs 473 mLs of Turtle wax. Is this worth while?

EDIT - looks like dynamic pricing on this. now back to $48. I bought it though at the $32.73 and cancelled the turtlewax order.

Actually pricing is strange. Logged in with Prime shows $32.73 still, but search without logging in it's $48.99

    • Is it easy to apply and wipe off without streaks?
I have and don't like this turtle wax for this reason, compared to my previous bowdens (I think)

  • I have been using NuFinish on my cars for years and am a massive fan for its long protection. This would be even easier to apply. Any comparison thoughts? Bought thanks OP

  • +2

Price has changed. Now listed as $32.33
