Lots of debate over salmon farming and fishing practices however still a good deal/might be useful for anyone that does eat.

Sometime it comes from thawed
The Australian-farmed salmon is always sold fresh, at least by Colesworth. Frozen salmon is imported.
BTW, it should be safe to re-freeze food that has been thawed properly, but the quality will suffer.
Hmmmm… enjoy the additives

That was an isolated incident. And shows how food monitoring works in Australia.

Experts say Australians should use water filters after drinking water in parts of the country was found to contain dangerous cancer-causing chemicals.
The contaminants - perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) - have been found in tap water in every state and territory, The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age reported today.

Smell before committing, often this price cut is done when not the freshest
Correct those prices mean its a day or two before useby.
Buy and freeze immediately if not planning to use within 2 days. I've never had off fish from Coles, touch wood.
As a person who does eat I'd risk it if available.
So just one store I'm assuming
I notice farmed salmon has a dark brown layer at the back of the skin. It doesnt taste the best either, I dont know what its from or whether it is from what they feed them, but it not nice to look at.
Farming practises vary. The end-product is great though. Tasty, healthy, and freezes well. Stock up!
